Cowboys Sign Price

The Cowboys signed free agent WR Peerless Price to a one year, $2 million deal. His signing will likely make one of the Terrence Copper, Quincy Morgan duo expendable, more likely Morgan given the size of his contract.

Update: The numbers don't add up. If you look at the post below this and the roster on the team's official site, you see 53 players. But that does not include Price. Unless Dallas has a temporary exemption, somebody was cut to accomodate Price.

If he plays well when he gets his chance, he might get a longer term deal, like a two year extension that he’s looking for next year. I still think that morgan will be cut or traded this week.

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Saturday that the club has traded LB Scott Fujita to the Dallas Cowboys for a sixth-round draft pick in 2006 and a conditional draft pick in 2007.

Terrell Bierria (SS) from Seattle is the most recognizable name, other than him, pure rookies and 2 year players that seem to be directed to their respective PS’s, there one name to consider Ernest Shazor (Arizona).

Yeah, maybe a slot type guy like Randle El. This is a guy who’s a tweener and not a protype size for any NFL position, but he just makes way too many plays when he touches the ball.

by Raul Villaronga on Sep 3, 2005 10:04 PM CDT reply actions

I’m not too excited about Fujita. I’ve never really focused on him while KC was playing but think he’s just like another Singleton at best — just someone to plug in who will generally play things right but never be outstanding. Did we really need another player like that?

As far as Morgan goes, I hope we can recover the 6th round pick we’re losing for Fujita. I’ll assume its unlikely someone will give up something for Morgan, but its likely that he’d be quickly resigned if the cowboys just cut him.

by rockytop cowboy on Sep 3, 2005 10:31 PM CDT reply actions

Price didnt do well in atlanta because he had no one in front of him. in buffalo he had moulds taking the double teams, he was the focus in atlanta. he’s a great 2nd receiver and like ive said for a week, would/is a great pickup for dallas

by nate on Sep 3, 2005 11:51 PM CDT reply actions

Just my opinion, but I’d say if your offense revolves around how many yards your quarterback gets on the ground then a wr would have a bad year.

by Tommy on Sep 4, 2005 12:10 AM CDT reply actions

PP gives the Cowboys a future number two if he works out and signs for more years. Crayton gives a number three. That means the team still needs to draft or find a number one WR. The Cowboys need a future QB as well. I am wondering what should the teams concern be next year in the draft QB or WR?

by Brad on Sep 4, 2005 1:03 AM CDT reply actions

see, any WR that has ever played with mike vick has never been successful EVER, for the simple fact the man is a runningback with an arm he has no clue how to use… witht hat being said he has had one tight end thats has been successful and i think that is due to the unnatural skill that tight end has.. hes just insane, top that off with price not being a real number one, and a team focusing more on a runninggame including Vick, Dunn and T.J. Duckett. no WR including randy moss would have a good season.

by scrappydoo on Sep 4, 2005 1:29 AM CDT reply actions

oh yeah and for all you guys being so sceptical on scott fugita. let me emphasize this for you. this man has had the most tackles on that whole entire defense the last two seasons and has made several key plays and interceptions. very fast physical and sized for a 3-4 defense. we basically picked up a bigger Dat Ngyuen. however he was expandable cuz they think they have something better.. which is fine with me cuz we got off with the better end of the deal. and the best part about this whole thing is. he has only been in the league for four years. no one knows he might blossum even more than he already has in this scheme of 3-4, and he still has soooooooomuch time to grow with this only being his fifth year. go cowboys

by scrappydoo on Sep 4, 2005 1:34 AM CDT reply actions

I really like the Scott Fujita signing. Like Scrappydoo says, he led the team in tackles for the past two years. He will really solidify our LB corps.

Peerless Price will do a whole lot better in Dallas, than in Atlanta, now that he has a “True Passer” to get the ball to him. This is the reason why Price signed a one year deal with Dallas instead of signing elsewhere for more. Why? Because Bledsoe was the one throwing him the ball when he had his breakout year. He wants to prove to the NFL that he is not the bust that Atlanta thought he was, so what better place to prove it than in Dallas, with Bledsoe at the helm? Drew was one of the first people that Peersless called when he was released. He wanted to come to Big D.

Bledsoe and Price hooked up really well in Buffalo. Bledsoe and Glenn hooked up really well in New England. With Johnson, Campbell and Witten as security blankets, plus throw Crayton in the mix………

Those who think that Bledsoe is done, and those who think that we’ll run the ball a lot, and be all about ball control, are in for a surprise. Julius will get his yards, because we will run the ball, not only with JJ, but with A-Train, TT and Barber as well(What a running attack that will be.) However, lookout for a high-powered passing attack from the ‘Boys this year, because I’m sure that Bledsoe is salivating already!

We now have not only one of the best group of running backs in the league, but hear this! We now have one of the best group receivers in the league! Never thought I’d be saying that! Couple that with a young, playmaking, scrappy defense, with a punter who reminds me of Ray Guy, who can pin the opponents down deep in their own territory, and we are in for some fun this year!

Now if only we can find more Safeties and the OL does their job……. Oh, more consistency from Cortez wouldn’t hurt either(At least his kick-offs are awesome.)

Regardless, we are a whole lot better off today than we we were on Friday, and I think we’ll get more Safeties, and we’ll be fine!

Bring on the ’Bolts! Too bad unMerriman is injured……..

I agree, after looking at all this again I’m very excited about this team!Price gives us much needed depth at reciever and Fujita sounds like a tackling machine! Can you guys believe the progress we have made so quickly in such a short amount of time???And mark my words,we aren’t thru, keep watching the wires and news,BP and JJ are out for blood and we should see at least two more significant additions soon(possibly by Monday)!Lookout NFL.no longer are the Cowboys gonna let you circle us as a win……!!!!!The Cowboys are gonna be the scariest team in the NFL by far this year!!! GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!

I just noticed the the Boys’ D had the fewest points allowed in the Preseason. While I’m not ready to brand them ‘doomsday’ just jet; you’ve got to say that’s pretty damn promising. I’d give them a while to gain experience, fill a few holes, and time to ‘gel’ as a unit. Then I’ll be willing to bet that TO won’t come over the middle, and he sure as hell isn’t going to be celebrating on our star. Dignity has returned to BIG D.

by VegasCowboy on Sep 4, 2005 5:33 AM CDT reply actions

I think the Cowboys did a prudent thing in signing Peerless Price (I really like Patrick Crayton, but Price is more of a known commodity). He is a proven veteran who has had success with Drew Bledsoe. While he possesses quickness, he does not bring speed to the offense—something some fans have complained about for a couple of years. He reportedly ran a 4.56 forty-yard-dash during his college days. Not many 28 year old players are as fast as they were in college, so it stands to reason that he runs in the 4.6 to 4.65 range; Price is not a burner and is not the field-stretching receiver many fans have clamored for, but, as Coach Parcells has pointed out, he has the ability to create separation from defenders QUICKLY. He should be an excellent target, even if he is not always a threat to take it all the way.

by Ron Hicks on Sep 4, 2005 8:49 AM CDT reply actions

Ron Hicks:

We had a discussion on a prior thread where the announcers for one of the preseason games stated it would be interested to see if Parcells kept his WR corps with two older guys (Key, Glenn) and two basic rookies (Crayton, Copper) and no young veteran – wich at the time was Morgan. Price is that vet, IMO.

by Raul Villaronga on Sep 4, 2005 9:29 AM CDT reply actions

a little of topic but what i have read on other threads you guys were talking about vince young of texas for our qb next year. he is a junior so he could opt to stay for his sr year but i doubt it. although he is extremely gifted i would much rather have a true passing qb. i am the biggest michael vick hater so i don’t care too much for a scrambling qb. the qb i would like for us to get in next year’s draft if he would be in the draft because he is a jr would be chris leak from florida. now there is a qb i wouldn’t mind getting and he may be there as a mid to high 1st round pick. and since we will be picking later in the first round next year he would be perfect for us. anyone who would want to get leinart all i have to say is that he is going to be the #1 pick next year and i would not want to give up so much just to get him when we could get leak.

by lilbeast on Sep 4, 2005 9:39 AM CDT reply actions

Actually, I think we could make a play for Brees or rivers, because I cant see San Diego paying both after this year. I’m hoping for Brees, since he’s more seasoned.

by Derrick on Sep 4, 2005 9:49 AM CDT reply actions

Rafael,

I believe that Price has only agreed to a contract, but has not actually signed it. It only becomes official when he signs, and the contract is turned into the league. Until then, we can keep an extra player.

Does anyone know if the league offices are even open today and/or tomorrow. If not, it will be close of business Tuesday before we have to cut a player to make room for Price, assuming he actually signs.

I think it is pretty obvious that the player to be dropped to make room for Price will be Morgan. Perhaps they are trying to work Morgan into a trade. That would explain the delay in Price’s signing.

by Mr. Bill on Sep 4, 2005 10:12 AM CDT reply actions

Reading the commentary on rookies vs. veterans throughout the blogs, I was reminded of the year that we went to the SB with 12 rookies on the team. Of course, Roger “the Dodger” was the QB at that time. BTW, we won that year.

I think we should all be excited about this year. Sure we probably won’t have an undefeated season, yet I’ve got a feeling that even any losses we incur will neverless be exciting and not particularly frustrating as in the past. As an avid fan of the ‘Boys, I’m tired of seeing them lose games they should win.

Imagine this, with the WR & RB corps we have now, the 4th qtr game is going to be awesome. While each of the guys are somewhat different in talent, they bring to the table “freshness”, i.e. when one goes out for a “blow”, the sub is “fresh”. Thus, Ds throughout the league will not be able to ease up when a starter is off the field because of less talent in the backup player. For you basketball fans, remember Cooper with the Lakers? Well, I see our “backups” acquiring the same kind of reputation as being the “off the bench” players that keep the team on the field with 1st team talent regardless of who is in WR or RB position.

Concerns for the OL seem to be justified, although the Jacksonville game showed some “gel” that the prior ones didn’t. Maybe they can overcome the sigma of being porous and be just the right melding of youth and veteran talent that has the strength and speed that is needed for the team to be able to maximize its WR and RB talents.

Congrats to BP for his decisions. Only a few surprises for me on his final list and that was the release of Carson, Coady and Crowder. Maybe we can sign Crowder to PS and develop him into that “other role” that will bring him back for ST. The one “keeper” that surprised me after his performance in the Jacksonville game was Reeves. Frankly, I thought he’d be gone after his “rookie” mistake on the kick reception in the endzone where he lost concentration, muffed the catch, then compounded it all with trying to run it out. Apparently, BP sees more than we’ve seen in him.

With all that’s been stated … R U Ready for FOOTBALL!!!!

I hope I’m not jumping into this conversation too late, but I think that it is really telling that Peerless Price wants to come to Dallas. Obviously, he hasn’t lost faith in Bledsoe’s ability. This really makes me excited about what this offense could do this year. If it gels, we are going to be a contender. Go Cowboys!!!!!

I say with the Peerless signing and the Fujuita trade, we are going to be the sleeper to win the NFC. Im telling everybody, we are going to be good. Our D has looked great in the preseason, and I LOVE the PP signing. If history repeats itself and Glenn goes down, we have insurance. Now we can stretch the field alot more. We all love the 2 TE sets, but when its 3rd and 15 lets run some 4-5 WR sets, with Witten playing WR. Think about this, it will force some teams to run a quarter defense, meaning Bledsoe should have plenty of time to read his WR’s. Look out this year NFC, we’re going to make some noise.

Raul,

I agree. As Mr. Bill pointed out, it looks as if Quincy Morgan will be released outright or traded. That scenario doesn’t concern me because I have never been a big fan of Morgan.

With respect to the younger guys, I would have liked for Coach Parcells to have kept Tom Crowder instead of Terrance Copper. I think he is potentially a better special teams player, and I like his speed (He reportedly runs a 4.4 forty-yard-dash). Hopefully, as has been suggested, Crowder will be placed on the practice squad where he can develop into an adequate receiver. If not, I think he will find a place to play somewhere in the NFL.

by Jonesrocket on Sep 4, 2005 12:38 PM CDT reply actions

Ron:

There is a big difference between game speed and 40 speed. Most of those 4/2-4.4 guys don’t run as fast in pads. Irvin, on the other hand ran just as fast in pads as he did in shorts, which explains how he always got oer the defense even though he never timed well in the 40. I don’t know if this applies to Price or not.

Also, I think it’s a misconception that players cannot get faster. As I recall, Rice was not as fast at the beginning of his career as he was at his peak. Alot of that has to do with training regiments and form. I also do not know if this has to do with Price.

What I do know is that Price is considered a speed WR in the NFL. Now, he’s no Santana Moss, but he’s got more game speed than most WRs. I think Antonio Bryant is the perfect comparison. He seemed to have plenty of speed when he played, but actuall timed 4.57 in the 40.

Sorry Just thinking out loud. I looked at all the cuts made by all the teams and I only found 6 guys worth even a look at S. They are Lord from Houston, Stone from the Rams, and 4 guys from the Titans. The rest were rookies, first year guys, or camp bodies. I hope that we are working a trade, unless BP thinks that he is going to re-sign Scott/Coady after they clear waivers?

by James on Sep 4, 2005 1:00 PM CDT reply actions

The more I think it over , the more ticked I am about Vollers/Walter. Walter losing to Noll I can see and accept. But Tucker being kept over Vollers? This is one of those times when BP is exercising his bad habit of playing personal favorites. None of us are perfect.

by James on Sep 4, 2005 1:29 PM CDT reply actions

James,

Vollers was waived-injured. I think his hand injury affected his ability to play his position.

Also, Tucker has rebounded strongly in the last two games.

I still think that the Cowboys will strongly consider bringing in a veteran OT after the first game.

by Mr. Bill on Sep 4, 2005 2:07 PM CDT reply actions

The offensive line & safety positions are the only two positions that really concern me because of the lack of depth. I think roster changes are about done, looks like BP has still got some tweeking to do but overall he has to be pleased with the All-STAR cast. I know I am.

lilbeast,

I agree completely on your QB assessment. I think Chris Leak is going to be great. He’s more like a Randall Cunningham rather than a Michael Vick. Has much better throwing mechanics. He would be a guy I would love to see Dallas draft next year. As for Brees/Rivers, I say forget both of them. But definitely, we need to draft a star QB or WR next year.

by Cosby Sweater on Sep 4, 2005 3:28 PM CDT reply actions

bowser,

Yep, I’m worried that we won’t get to see Caryton develop as much due to Price being on the field. That why Price’s signing is not exactly great news for me and quite a few other fans on here.

I’m worried that Bledsoe won’t be spreading the ball around, but only to the WR he’s pre-determined to throw to. He seems to do that a lot, and thusly I doubt that Crayton will get as many thrown his way. Luckily, Price will probably only be around for one year….

Cosby Sweater,

I’m with you on forgeting Brees and Rivers and drafting a young QB and WR. The emphasis should be on offense next year, especially if Dallas’ defense is as good as it looks like it’s going to be.

chandus i think bierria is actually a better back up ss then fs, heres espn scouting take on him

He is at his best in-the-box. Can serve as a fourth LB-type. Does a good job of using his hands to take on blocks and get through traffic. He has good short area power. Fills hard vs. the run and will throw his body around. Is tough, feisty and fearless. Shows explosive hips as a tackler. However, Bierria simply does not match up athletically in space. He is high-cut and has stiff hips. He is slow to diagnose and gets a late jump on too many throws. He lacks COD skills and loses too much in transition when he’s forced to stop and start. He has limited range in zone coverage

Then lets grab Bierria. He can back up Roy. Reeves can back Davis at FS. Unless we are working a deal that is. Before we grab someone off waivers we have to wait for those of teams ahead of us in draft order to pass on the guy.

ESPN has us signing the following to the PS: Kincade RB, Crowder and Rector WR, Curtis and Ryan TE, Van Hoy DT, Tarullo OT, Suishman PK.

They scooped the boys at dc.com, DMN, FWST again. Nothing on their sites to confirm this.

bowser,

I have some of that same concern. But, Crayton should get at least the Chargers game to show what he can do, before Price is able to pass him on the depth chart.

I believe that once Price gets up to speed, that all 4 (Crayton, Glenn, Johnson and Price) will be taken to the games and there will be liberal substitution, at least until this all shakes out. The one’s who get open, catch the ball, and make plays will eventually get the most playing time. If the Cowboys do that, and Crayton doesn’t measure up to the others, then I have no problem with him getting fewer snaps.

James,

It looks like all of those local sites have given their reporters the day off. We probably won’t get much out of them tomorrow, either.

by Mr. Bill on Sep 4, 2005 6:09 PM CDT reply actions

I’m pretty sure there are only 6 guys allowed on the PS…you’ve got 8.

You guys should quit worrying about drafting a QB next year…Henson gets another year. Bledsoe’s on a three year gig. If Henson bombs next year, they’ll be looking in earnest the following year. So much consternation over a backup QB. We got our starter…quit worrying.

Yes, Rich, you are. mmm…let’s see, I want to play a guy that’s worse…OK.

by Fighter15 on Sep 4, 2005 6:09 PM CDT reply actions

Give Patrick Crayton two years, he will step up for the cowboys as a No. 1/No. 2 reciever. When i watch him play i see a future potential, T.O. type-playmaker. And what is all this fuss about safety? Though they are young and have room for improvement here and there, both Beriault and Davis showed that they can be hard-hitting, playmakers during the preseason.

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 6:20 PM CDT reply actions

8 on the PS Fighter. Used to be 6.

by James on Sep 4, 2005 6:30 PM CDT reply actions

i am happy about the moves this weekend as anybody, but let’s not lose our heads just yet.

i may be reading too much into this, but FOX sports had a blurb about Fujita recently commiting on a shoulder injury and a sluggish return from last year’s ankle injury were going to call Fujita’s ability to even make the team (Chief’s) into question. a lot of that has to do with the drafting of DJ, but it makes me wonder even for the low picks traded are we gambling with some damage goods at SOLB? i have always liked the type of player Fujita has been but does anyone know if he will still be the type of guy who could lead us in tackles?

also, i would like to claim Bierria for the backup Safety, but i don’t imagine we will be the only ones.

and who is really going to trade for Morgan? there were a lot of “i’ve heard of him” recievers without jobs after saturday.

by JLH on Sep 4, 2005 6:56 PM CDT reply actions

It’s not a risk at OLB, it’s not like we are losing the players we already have. We still have the same players, just adding one to it. That is not a risk, i may consider it as a gamble, but then again if he doesnt work out we can just play Singleton or Burnett in his place. Back to where we were with no loses except a 6th round draft pick.. and who’s gonna fight over that?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 7:03 PM CDT reply actions

And why does everyone have the hotts for this Bierria guy? Has anyone seen this guy play? What do you see in him that the Seahwaks didn’t?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 7:08 PM CDT reply actions

the thing about Bierria is he is a young, but somewhat experienced back-up who got pushed out of seattle because of numbers. he could easily walk onto our squad as the third safety.

i guess i am just not ready to put Fujita in as a starter if there is a chance he is still hurt, especially if the rookies can produce even a portion of their potential.

by JLH on Sep 4, 2005 7:13 PM CDT reply actions

Okay.. I can understand where you are coming from with your point about Fujita. I feel the same about the situation with Coleman starting over Spears. Which most likely won’t be the case during the season. But they were pretty serisous about it throughout camp. None the less, we ARE getting a two-time leading tackler, for the Chiefs, for a 6th round draft pick. Sounds like the scale is weighed to our side just a bit. But back to Bierria.. Do we really need another young safety? especially if we are getting him to sit behind to other young guys. Both who have great potential themselves, and not to mention, actually made an NFL team’s roster. I just don’t see this as a MUST at all.

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

What I see is a really good looking 4 receiver spread that cant be totally covered and a quaterback that will find the open guy

by pk1955 on Sep 4, 2005 7:57 PM CDT reply actions

Joe,
We need more than 2 safeties, whether they are young or old.

by James on Sep 4, 2005 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

Aftercall,

I am going to stick with my observation that Price isn’t a burner and plays quicker than he does fast. Also, MOST players do not get faster as they age. If Jerry Rice actually got faster in the pros than he was in college, then he is a rare exception. Rather, I think he fits the category you alluded to: Some players play faster than their forty times would suggest. Let’s see how many times Price outruns opposing secondaries this year. That will be the true test of his “game speed.” We should know something definitive in a few weeks.

by Ron Hicks on Sep 4, 2005 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

price deffintely is not gonna walk in and be the 3rd receiver. crayton has that for at least the first week. its gonna take that long for price to get accomstomed to the cowboys offense. does this mean we will see some 4 wr sets from bp, possibly 5 with whitten?? i would try it a lil see what happens, if you give bledsoe time with 5 wr that are all above average then watch out, he’ll tear it up.

by mike on Sep 4, 2005 8:29 PM CDT reply actions

What 5 WR are you listing that are all above average?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 9:05 PM CDT reply actions

I have a quick poll for everyone.. With all the depth and talent at WR and RB and then the six, starting, 1st round picks on their defense, Which core of the Cowboys do you see coming out with the better ranking this year, the offense or defense?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 4, 2005 9:12 PM CDT reply actions

Mid year it will be the offense, end of the year the defense

by NYGiant Hater on Sep 4, 2005 9:21 PM CDT reply actions

Earnest Shavor – will be signed as FS

by terry on Sep 4, 2005 9:30 PM CDT reply actions

Shavor would be a good add……pre-daft analysis was excellent

by NYGiant Hater on Sep 4, 2005 9:38 PM CDT reply actions

The Cardinals have signed Shazor to their practice squad. That’s doesn’t mean we could not still get him, but we obviously weren’t interested enough to put in a waiver claim, which would have been the hassle-free way to get him. Now, if we want Shazor, we have to negotiate with him.

by Mr. Bill on Sep 4, 2005 10:14 PM CDT reply actions

Fighter15,

The NFL increased the size of practice squads from 6 to 8, a year ago.

by Mr. Bill on Sep 4, 2005 10:15 PM CDT reply actions

That’s why I love this blog…learn something new everyday.

I stand corrected.

BTW, I love the Shazor idea. If I remember right, there were quite a few bloggers that were really high on him.

by Fighter15 on Sep 4, 2005 10:43 PM CDT reply actions

Fighter15:
And he was the guy that went undrafted and was projected as a 2nd rounder, my guess? NFL Scout’s knew something media scouts didn’t. So, I wouldn’t jump at him.

by Chandus on Sep 4, 2005 11:16 PM CDT reply actions

Joe:
I think you haven’t seen that Beriault is on IR, as in Injured Reserve, and won’t play for the year, they also fired Scott and Coady, so that leaves only 2 Safeties on the roster, Williams and Davis, and you know, a wise coach doesn’t faces the season with only 2 safeties, they might cross their fingers and go through the opener with the two of them, but furthermore the risk of injury in such a physical position is two large to go with just 2 on the roster. Obviously, I don’t think that Parcells and staff fired Scott and Coady without knowing who they could get in UFA or from another team, so by Monday or Tuesday we will know what we might take for the season.

by Chandus on Sep 4, 2005 11:23 PM CDT reply actions

I hope they are not thinking they can get through the season with just 2 S Chandus!

by James on Sep 5, 2005 2:03 AM CDT reply actions

Yea, i see your point. I knew we had put beriault on IR, but i had forgotten we waived 3 safeties. Who do you think we will cut to make room for another safety and Price?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 5, 2005 11:00 AM CDT reply actions

Terrell Bierria is the top FA, Arturo Freeman is there also, but I smell an injury with him, he was waived while being signed for this year and signed a modest deal. He was fired for something else. Other than those two… there’s not much for the picking. Look for a trade or 2 to occur, if it hasn’t occured yet, in the next hours.

by Chandus on Sep 5, 2005 11:06 AM CDT reply actions

Maybe Terrance Copper WR and Nathan Jones CB. Im not sure if i would cut Morgan cause he may be of better trade value..

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 5, 2005 11:07 AM CDT reply actions

I’m there with the majority, thinking that they’ll send Morgan packing as soon as Price is signed, and that they could trade Singleton or Ogbogu for a Safety, not both.

by Chandus on Sep 5, 2005 11:07 AM CDT reply actions

Where are you finding the information about the top FA’s?

by Joe Cowboys on Sep 5, 2005 11:17 AM CDT reply actions

I don’t believe that they would fire Copper, if Morgan is traded, which I don’t buy, teams know that Parcells most likely won’t go the season with him on his roster, something free is better than something conditioned. But if they do trade him or just let him go, we would only have 4 WR’s on our roster and you know? In all the years as a Cowboys fan I’ve been I haven’t ever seen a 4 WR depth on the roster, have seen the normal 5, and even 6, but not 4.

by Chandus on Sep 5, 2005 11:20 AM CDT reply actions

Seeing teams transactions… That’s the best way, go to a page like sportsline, si or espn and click on teams transactions and you will see the players set into freedom.

by Chandus on Sep 5, 2005 11:22 AM CDT reply actions

Well copper is getting payed more, so maybe they would want to shave some room on their salary cap. And also i don’t see them just giving up Morgan without trying for any trades. Even if it is for a younger, maybe less experienced reciever.

by breaker23 on Sep 5, 2005 11:51 AM CDT reply actions

The ’Boys just signed Willie Pile and sent Ogbogu pacling.

KANSAS CITY TRADES LB SCOTT FUJITA TO DALLAS
Sep 03, 2005, 5:18:41 PM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Saturday that the club has traded LB Scott Fujita to the Dallas Cowboys for a sixth-round draft pick in 2006 and a conditional draft pick in 2007.

Fujita (6-5, 250) played in 48 career games (41 starts) in three seasons with Kansas City, recording 326 tackles (230 solo) with 9.5 sacks (-51.5 yards). He also added one interception, a forced fumble, 15 passes defensed, 18 QB pressures and 23 special teams tackles. Fujita also saw action in one postseason contest, registering five tackles and a pass defensed.

The 25-year old Fujita started all 16 games for the second consecutive season in 2004, leading the Chiefs with 112 tackles (71 solo) for his second straight 100-tackle campaign. He also registered a career-high 4.5 sacks (-25.5 yards) to go along with three passes defensed and eight QB pressures. Selected to Pro Football Weeklyâ€â"¢s All-Rookie team in 2002, Fujita was also the recipient of Kansas Cityâ€â"¢s Mack Lee Hill Award that season, an honor which is given to the clubâ€â"¢s most outstanding rookie or first-year player.

Fujita originally entered the NFL as the Chiefs fifth-round pick (143rd overall) in 2002. The Ventura, California native was a former walk-on at the University of California who worked his way into the starting lineup, appearing in 39 games (24 starts) over his collegiate career. An honorable mention All-Pac 10 selection as a senior, Fujita opened all 11 games, racking up 60 tackles (43 solo), 7.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks (-23.0 yards), three passes defensed and two forced fumbles.
