Well if you do watch that game again, please help me. I seem to remember us blitzing on the 4th & 2 play that lead to Thrash receiving a dump off pass for 20 yards. Yet, on the 4th & 15 play that was the first TD we didn’t. Maybe it’s just me, but you blitz when a team needs 15 yards so their receivers can’t get that far down field, not when they need 2 & can do what they did & dump it off. ANNOYING! Anyway it’s time to look toward the 49ers. This team isn’t good enough to look back at MNF any longer. Otherwise, while we continue to dwell on not being 2-0 we might go to bed Sunday night @ 1-2.

You’re a better man than I am. I couldn’t stand to watch that again.
Now, about the 49ers. I’m predicting a beat down. San Fran gets what Washington should have gotten.
by Rob2 on Sep 21, 2005 7:28 PM CDT reply actions
the cowboys tallied five sacks by blitzing Brunell, then on those last 2 scoring drives they only rushed 3 or 4 and let brunell pick them apart. that’s what i didnt like. anyways, it’s time to think about San Francisco. hopefully, the cowboys learn from that experience. better it happens week 2 than week 16 or 17. on the the bright side, Bledsoe is the only starting NFC QB that has not thrown an interception. additionally, he trails only Rothlisberger in overall QB rating. there’s a lot of good things going on with the cowboys
by rparr on Sep 21, 2005 7:29 PM CDT reply actions
also mcbriar is averaging 45+ yards per punt and we’re winning the turnover battle. but teams are really keying on Witten. need to get him more involved with the offense
by rparr on Sep 21, 2005 7:39 PM CDT reply actions
Teams keying on Witten is only going to open things up for other guys. Terry Glenn has shown that he can get open deep, and so can Price. Crayton and Johnson have shown that they can get open in tight spots, so we’ve got a pretty good balance of guys catching the ball. If we can keep protecting Bledsoe like we did against you know who, we can still get 10 wins this season. I’m not giving up hope yet.

the game was tough to watch, but since the draft we have all said this team would make mistakes. rparr ur right this is a batter time to lose a game liek that then at the end of the season. hopefully the rookies can take this game in stride and learn from it

Hey now, the 49ers are coming off a bad loss as well of another genre (that of an unneccesary blowout). Don’t expect them not to be looking for revenge in the form of a cowboy. Both teams are going to have giant chips on their shoulders.

Is it me or is the offensive passing scheme/play calling a little too conservative. When Bledsoe went mid to deep he looked good. The problem is that the offense didn’t do it enough. Bledsoe had plenty of time but the plays appeared to be mostly short dumps and 5 yard deep patterns. We should have stretched the Redskin D more and perhaps we could have scored a few TDs. We certainly have the receivers and a QB with a good long ball arm. What say yea?
by gman on Sep 21, 2005 10:14 PM CDT reply actions
This is the BP offensive philosophy. Conservative. Grind it. Wear them down. Shove it down their throat. He is not a spread, run and shoot, west-coast type of guy. I have my dislikes about him, but how he runs the O ain’t one of them.
by EyeamKurgan on Sep 22, 2005 12:52 AM CDT reply actions
Guys, Sean Payton is calling the plays. BP’s offensive philosophy seems to differ quite a bit seeing that at one time Price caught a screen out of a 5 wide receiver set. The only time we were strictly conservative was when we played to lose in the fourth quarter.
by Blair on Sep 22, 2005 1:01 AM CDT reply actions
If the ‘boys learn from this – how to put them away close games – then we have some potential. If they lose confidence and start to develop the habit of losing close games it won’t be pleasant….
The biggest difference between the patriots and also-rans of the past few years was thire ability to put away close games. Their record in close games is unbelievable – they just don’t believe they can lose.
by Boy from Oz on Sep 22, 2005 4:14 AM CDT reply actions
Payton should have been calling for more long plays as it became clear that we were able to protect Bledsoe. He did not get touched all night.
But payton still called the short stuff. And we lost.
by Burmafrd on Sep 22, 2005 6:16 AM CDT reply actions
The only difference I see in play calling is Parcells in the past always tried to make the other team pay immediately after a turnover. There was always a shot at the endzone if a turnover occured on the opposing teams territory. That hasn’t happened with Payton. Parcells has even spoke about that in the past. Basically trying to make the other team pay for its mistake immediately. I noticed in the game the other night we went to running it up the gut for 1 yard right away. Difference of philosophy in that area for sure.

WAY Off topic……..i just got home from work and San Antonio is filling up with people from the coastal region and the hiways are jammed with cars……
by sharkz on Sep 22, 2005 7:52 AM CDT reply actions
Just so you guys know. Parcells has said in his PC’s that Payton calls the plays, but Parcells has to approve. W/ that said, let’s not all blame Payton for the conservative approach.
As for the 9’ers game, if the Boys don’t win by more than 10, I’d be shocked.
by Steve_OS on Sep 22, 2005 8:34 AM CDT reply actions
We must focus on beating the living piss out of the niners. I am so sick of turning on ball programs and seeing Joe, Dwight and ‘the catch’. Beat them badly as the eagles did because that is our competition. Then its on to Moss and the Raiders who are a larger problem. But that 2nd half play calling so reminded me of Campo. Ugh. Go boys!

Peterson prepared to make good on “guarantee” .
You hear that girls…
Julian Peterson of 49ers promised on Monday that things would be different in Week 3 against the Cowboys. â€Å"Iâ€â"¢m positive weâ€â"¢re going to play well,†he said then. â€Å"Iâ€â"¢m positive were going to win.â€Â
When asked if that meant he was guaranteeing a victory, Peterson said, â€Å"Yes, you can say I guarantee it.â€Â.
I like that kind of attitude so I’m calling my bookie, last I heard, cowturds are favored by about a TD. I’ll take the points and go with home team.
easy money.
hehe

What in the world! You are takin the niners over the cowboys. I will take that bet anyday. We may have lost to the redskins but to the niners I sure hope not or I might have to become a Bengals fan. GO COWBOYS!!!

"Peterson prepared to make good on â€Å"guaranteeâ€Â
Is that the same kind of guarantee that chad Johnson made last year against Cleveland.

I take it that an open thread means that moronic trolls are allowed on as well? Or is this going to be the case from now on?
If so, I had enough of THAT garbage on the ESPN board. IF that is what is going to happen, I am outa here and not coming back.

Well, I’m talking football. If you boys can’t handle the truth then go dress up as cowgirls, form a circle and sing kumbaya.
I think that Prozac Parcell is taking is working too well. I mean they say’s he’s been pretty mellow this week in practice. After a loss like that, something’s wrong. If he was his usual self he’d blown a gasket alrady.
Or may be he’s just resign to accept another mediocre season. I mean going from 10-6 playoff team to a 6-10 last season, he ought to be happy with an 8-8 season, right ? Call it another rebuilding year.
I usually wait until an hour before game time to place my bet but a sure thing is a sure thing so I called up my bookie and put two $$$ on 49ers + 6 and a half points. Like I said, easy money.
Hey Raul, thanks for IP info but I am my own boss and I don’t care who’s network I’m using. I mean I’m sipping Latte and who’s ever signal I get is fine with me. Next you’ll tell me I’m in Pensylvania waiting for the Cowboys bus you’re organizing.
hehe
by Redskins Die Hard Fan on Sep 22, 2005 8:01 PM CDT reply actions
I blame BP for the conservative calls not Payton. I can’t believe that when their safety goes out on the 1st series with a hammy we didn’t find an area to attack in the secondary. You’d think that would open things up for TE and Rec.

Redskins Die Hard,
I doubt that you are your own boss, although I am sure that your nose is connected to your boss’ sphincter muscle. How else would you have all that free time. (Or I guess you could be Snyder’s illegitimate whelp that he pays under the table to keep under the radar.)
P.S. If you are going to laugh when you post, please come up with something more masculine. But, that is more than likely too much to ask from a foreskin fan.

I could hear the song in my head, where were all the cover guys, a couple safties playing deep, defend the long shot….."Go to sleep, go to sleep, go to sleep my Cowboys, go to.
I hope we build on this, Coach Parcells needs to act younger then he must feel. (Your as old as you feel, right) He must be taking chills pills. I think that song I heard had the big tuna’s voice.
Die-hard fan since “68” and I could see it happening before it did. Al, looking at the owner of the Skins, “this man has never won in this Stadium”
Wake up! Wake up, well at least for game time, wake the heck up. I heard a saying, “On any given day, any given team” Thanks for the space to post.
Take care all, Curt

It was just one game out of 16, there is still 14 games to be played. I know that the Cowboys will compete all year. I can’t say the same for the Skins, I’d like to see if RDHF will still be this happy come week 8,9,10…

It matters much less how the season begins as how it ends.
NY Yankees are now in first place for the first time since the very beginning of the season. Everyone counted them out. And even to my surprise they are IN CONTROL. IN Dallas we got what it takes.
