That’s right, folks. The Cowboys are opening their D in nickel.

ok.. I’m really excited.. this is great…they look good today… lets hope it continues..like opening day
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:24 PM CDT reply actions
Raf,
You know the first question to Bill during the next press conference will be, Bill, why did you open the game in the nickel when you told everyone that you cant let teams dictate what you do on defense.
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:25 PM CDT reply actions
Raf,
did you also catch Troys comments on the problems
with Dallas’s running game very close to yours….
by becker on Oct 9, 2005 3:26 PM CDT reply actions
I guess Philly forgot to take their pickle juice, they look sluggish.
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:26 PM CDT reply actions
Anyone receiving this game in the Wash, DC area? Or has the Redskins game cut us out?
by GGra on Oct 9, 2005 3:28 PM CDT reply actions
did you guys see that friggin hole?? holy moly
nice run JJ
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:29 PM CDT reply actions
Jones nice run !!!
WHERE IS THE HORSE COLLAR CALL??????
by becker on Oct 9, 2005 3:29 PM CDT reply actions
Oh my – I like the call there. Keyshawn to the goal line… Let’s go for it.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:30 PM CDT reply actions
oh boy… hold your breath.. run behind the big boys.. or to the outside
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:31 PM CDT reply actions
updates on the game for those who can’t see it on tv??
by BoysplayGood on Oct 9, 2005 3:31 PM CDT reply actions
I hated that call.. terrible.. not just cause it didn’t work.. it was expected… geez..
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:31 PM CDT reply actions
Ouch – what a surge by the Eagles defense there. I like Spears in the backfield sometimes, but it’s really too much of a signal to the defense of exactly what’s coming.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:31 PM CDT reply actions
Dallas was 4th and goal at the one and the went for it with JJ and didn’t get an inch
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:32 PM CDT reply actions
all that way for not.. but they have the birds pinned
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:33 PM CDT reply actions
We have them pinned deep, at least. Let’s see if we can keep them here.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:33 PM CDT reply actions
looks like McNabb is a little worried there passing.. we need to hit him hard again
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:34 PM CDT reply actions
looks like McNabb is a little worried there passing.. we need to hit him hard again
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:34 PM CDT reply actions
Man, Am I getting sick and tired at all these Qbs throwing their arm up in the air looking for a flag. Nice defensive stand.
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:36 PM CDT reply actions
At least we’re still winning the field position game.
by Paul Young on Oct 9, 2005 3:37 PM CDT reply actions
Glenn again.. this is starting to feel euphoric!! yeah!!!
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:38 PM CDT reply actions
Gee…we open up the offense and look what happens…..lol
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 3:40 PM CDT reply actions
Glenn has Lito Sheppard schooled so far. That’s their mismatch.
On the defensive side, Kevin Burnett got some plays in Dat’s role
last series. I haven’t had a chance to follow the game (company
is leaving.) Is Dat out?
by Rafael Vela on Oct 9, 2005 3:41 PM CDT reply actions
What? I thought I’d log on to see you guys going nuts. I know I am!!!
by theogt on Oct 9, 2005 3:42 PM CDT reply actions
Beautiful stop by Williams. It’s nice to see him make a clean tackle instead of lowering his shoulder for the kill.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:45 PM CDT reply actions
ROY!!!!!!!!!!!Nice stop!!!!!!!!!!!Now we look like we came to play!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 3:45 PM CDT reply actions
Oh my, their kicker and punter have now EACH saved a TD.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:46 PM CDT reply actions
We’re killing them!!!!!!!!!!!Pour it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 3:46 PM CDT reply actions
would have been nice to see Owens get hit really HARD though wouldn’t it?
I loath that guy
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:47 PM CDT reply actions
This is amazing. Bledsoe looks like Dan Fouts or something.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 3:50 PM CDT reply actions
Bledsoe is really looking good today, getting the ball out fast
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:50 PM CDT reply actions
I agree Mike lets punish them, let them think about this for their bye….
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 3:51 PM CDT reply actions
crayton carries the ball wrong hes gonna fumble
1st down
by TM on Oct 9, 2005 3:51 PM CDT reply actions
LA makes another mistake…
and another mistake..
cost us 7
thanks buddy how long has he been playing?
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 3:54 PM CDT reply actions
why would you push that guy larry, he’s not in the play, god damn it
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:55 PM CDT reply actions
Larry Allen cost us 4 points on that drive with two penealties
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 3:56 PM CDT reply actions
I must admit Bledsoe has been a good pickup for the boys. Have you all noticed that he isn’t pumping the ball as much…just pats it once and releasing.
by Amerikanbaddazz on Oct 9, 2005 4:00 PM CDT reply actions
Lets hope Henry can pick one off this quarter..
I’m sure they’ll start trying to get it to Westbrook soon
watch the slot
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:01 PM CDT reply actions
Boys looking good!!!Lets keep it up for 60 minutes!
by Andyz on Oct 9, 2005 4:01 PM CDT reply actions
We are looking good through one quarter. 3 more to go.
by K-Vaughn on Oct 9, 2005 4:01 PM CDT reply actions
The ’Boys are not as bad as some people think they are! Go Cowboys!!!!!
by onepaniolo on Oct 9, 2005 4:02 PM CDT reply actions
I thought Bledsoe was a great pickup for us. All you have to do is compare the Garbage that was here for the last four years. Buffalo’s offensive line was horrible over the last two year Bledsoe was there.
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:02 PM CDT reply actions
uh oh.. the birds are getting into a rythm.. sack sack
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:03 PM CDT reply actions
That was the first play Bradie james made all year
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:09 PM CDT reply actions
Hey, Bradie James is on our roster after all. That might be the first true ‘plus’ play I’ve seen from him all year.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:09 PM CDT reply actions
he’s got all day to throw.. we will lose if we don’t get pressure …
where’s the pressure?
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:09 PM CDT reply actions
Wow, looks like we have a lot of people thinking the same things today :)
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:09 PM CDT reply actions
Decent stand by the defense only allowing 3 points. Now let’s get the ball and score another TD!!!!!!!
by K-Vaughn on Oct 9, 2005 4:10 PM CDT reply actions
yeah… I agree Matt… that was great coverage and great timing…
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:10 PM CDT reply actions
We need to call some blitz stunts and not be predictable with our blitzing scheme
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 4:10 PM CDT reply actions
Matt,
I guess thats what happens when great minds think alike
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:10 PM CDT reply actions
Nice to see McNabb on his @ss early in the game. Let’s do it again, and again, and again…………………
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:11 PM CDT reply actions
Wow Bradie James! Where have you been this season?
by K-Vaughn on Oct 9, 2005 4:11 PM CDT reply actions
lets get another great return!! that is a large part of our current lead
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:11 PM CDT reply actions
I am loving this attack scheme by the Cowboys. We should never do anything else.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:11 PM CDT reply actions
Paul, their giving some help on Wares side on blocking
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:12 PM CDT reply actions
How cool would it be to see us take the iggles the first time out with our new D?
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:13 PM CDT reply actions
We really need to send the Giants a message, but we have to be careful to win this one first.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:13 PM CDT reply actions
Thanks, I hate watching games off the nfl stats.
by Paul Young on Oct 9, 2005 4:15 PM CDT reply actions
Another beautiful pass from Drew Bledsoe—this time a 19-yarder to Witten. Bledsoe is really looking incredible today. He looks like the guy who made jaws drop back in college.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:15 PM CDT reply actions
what do you expect from an old washed up alcoholic
by Amerikanbaddazz on Oct 9, 2005 4:16 PM CDT reply actions
Off the topic but the Stros are tied up with the braves
by Amerikanbaddazz on Oct 9, 2005 4:17 PM CDT reply actions
WOW! A new concept. Pass to set up the run.
Methinks wise Bill has found the secret sauce.
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 4:21 PM CDT reply actions
5 minute FG drive. not quite the 8 minute TD, but it’ll do.
by theogt on Oct 9, 2005 4:22 PM CDT reply actions
Reaching out with one hand and grabbing the collar isn’t the prohibited penalty. It’s grabbing from behind and swinging your weight to drag the guy down that is not allowed.
Anyway, very nice YAC/RAC by Witten on that last pass. Too bad A Train didn’t hold on on the prior play.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:22 PM CDT reply actions
put the heavy package in w/ spears….play action to JJ…send campbell out for a 2 yard completion
by mad_mike on Oct 9, 2005 4:23 PM CDT reply actions
fighter,
it’s the pickle juice that someone slipped Bill before the game
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:23 PM CDT reply actions
Let’s keep that 17 point advantage. We can try for more points later.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:23 PM CDT reply actions
its about time bill mixes it up…too predictable. It has worked and caused the Eagles to be in a state of shock.
by Amerikanbaddazz on Oct 9, 2005 4:23 PM CDT reply actions
qb sneak.. dont run it.. or play action to Glenn for a td if they go for it.. its less than a yard
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:23 PM CDT reply actions
Parcells is finally getting it right
Nice BP.. Nice BP
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:24 PM CDT reply actions
Lousaka sighting! Touchdown! This game has been a dream come true, I can hardly believe it.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:25 PM CDT reply actions
yes!!!!!!!!!! TD Polite….nice call….what they dont expect!!!!
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:25 PM CDT reply actions
If Lousaka is in, why are they still using Campbell in the backfield?
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 4:25 PM CDT reply actions
I LOVE THIS! Keep em guessing. ATTACK, ATTACK, and NEVER let up.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:26 PM CDT reply actions
Guys, can you imagine what would have happened if we started EVERY game like this?
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:26 PM CDT reply actions
dumb only if you don’t make it.. dumb only if you run it up the gut like they thought it was goin..
Patriots would have done the same thing.. throw to the unknown guy….
and they have won how many of the last 4 superbowls?
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:27 PM CDT reply actions
do you think he will start complaining? do you think we even need him
by Amerikanbaddazz on Oct 9, 2005 4:27 PM CDT reply actions
Allright Rafael. Glad to hear you’re just kidding. Don’t want to give them anything.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:27 PM CDT reply actions
I was questioning BP’s call to go for it again after the last time. I have to remind myself not to question him. “In Bill I Trust”
by JayDub on Oct 9, 2005 4:28 PM CDT reply actions
getting pressure, running the ball, throwing the ball, tackling.
by theogt on Oct 9, 2005 4:30 PM CDT reply actions
JayDub…this guys you have to really knock em when you have them down…..we need to get more TD….remember Kansas last week…it is no secrtet what these animals can do

finally.. another one
finally.. another onesack sack sack
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:31 PM CDT reply actions
Wow, how could McNabb not throw that one away? Nice to see a true coverage sack for once.

Oh my GOD did you see Crayton switch hands there as he was going down on the punt return? My heart skipped a beat. You CANNOT do that…
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:33 PM CDT reply actions
Me too guys,we needed this sooooo bad!GO COWBOYS!!!!!
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 4:33 PM CDT reply actions
somebody tell Crayton to call fair catch when he hs three green jerseys in front of him…Bill, you do that please…thanks
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:34 PM CDT reply actions
no, run it, let the half be over…let the deffense rest!!!!
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:35 PM CDT reply actions
Naw on Crayton. He almost made that guy miss and could have gotten a few.
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 4:35 PM CDT reply actions
OK, NOW run the ball. My old ticker can’t take that!
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 4:36 PM CDT reply actions
I love the experiance that Bledsoe brings,he is looking sharp!
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 4:37 PM CDT reply actions
looks like we’re playing to win….NOT trying to get into the locker room after running out the clock
by mad_mike on Oct 9, 2005 4:38 PM CDT reply actions
Is anybody worried about the 2nd half? I feel good right now, but I am concerned.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:38 PM CDT reply actions
I like the aggressiveness we’re showing now, but I’m afraid Big Willie will get too conservative in the 2nd half.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:39 PM CDT reply actions
i dont like the sideline patterns so close to our own endzone
by mad_mike on Oct 9, 2005 4:40 PM CDT reply actions
I like everything we’re doing (expect for the fact that westbrook is one of my RB in Fanatsy…hell with him)….we need to stay aggressive on Deffense and control the clock to keep that D rested…..hope we get some points here and lead by 4 TD
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:42 PM CDT reply actions
is this for real??
somebody hit me….
I cannot believe it..
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:44 PM CDT reply actions
I get sick of this Joe Buck “Troy, you were a football god” circlejerk every Sunday.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:44 PM CDT reply actions
A thrashing by the Dallas offense….I LOVE IT!!!!!!
by sharkz on Oct 9, 2005 4:45 PM CDT reply actions
and to think we have Price on the bench….couldn’t we trade him for a real safety to line up with Roy Williams?
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:45 PM CDT reply actions
Rob2…
I feel the same way.. all you need to do is look at the Eagle KC game last week.. they make good halftime adjustments
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:46 PM CDT reply actions
I never thought I’d see this. I thought we’d compete, but not this.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:46 PM CDT reply actions
Good call, MikeA—-I like going a whole half without noticing Jevon Kearse.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:46 PM CDT reply actions
well Matt…would you rather listen to Joe Theismann’s eternal wisdom/??
by mad_mike on Oct 9, 2005 4:47 PM CDT reply actions
Anyone that has ANY worries is way too paranoid.
Could they collapse? Doubtful, but why even waste a negative breath?
This was a spectacular 1st half.
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 4:48 PM CDT reply actions
looks like TT better get his chinstrap tightened up…
that was ugly on the JJ replay
by mad_mike on Oct 9, 2005 4:49 PM CDT reply actions
it’s not over yet and it looks like JJ is out for the 2nd half..
lets just hope it’s not for more than that
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions
I hope JJ can sit the second half and not put more strain on that ankle. Hopefully we will continue looking good and there won’t be a second half miracle like the Eagles had against KC. Even though Barber and Thompson are mostly still unknown quantities, I feel a LOT better with our three-deep backup RB’s than I would have felt last year with Eddie.
by Matt on Oct 9, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions
Very very nice….I am worried about JJ….any news yet? that looked painfull
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:51 PM CDT reply actions
I am not happy to see Julius limping. I hope he’s able to get back out there. WE REALLY need him
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:51 PM CDT reply actions
is Barber active? I dont think so…Polite, JJ, TT and Thomas….
by ManTab on Oct 9, 2005 4:52 PM CDT reply actions
great half guys hope to see the same in the 2nd. Drew is on today
by Anthony on Oct 9, 2005 4:52 PM CDT reply actions
If we stay sharp, we could see 40 points on the board. We know philthy can score. we need to keep running the score up. Hell, Green Bay scored 52 today. I say we go after that score.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:53 PM CDT reply actions
I guess Lito Shepard, pro bowl corner, is having a difficult time covering Terry Glenn.
by Tony on Oct 9, 2005 4:53 PM CDT reply actions
The mighty Philadelphia Chickens ‘#1 432 yards a game explosive offense’ has 80 yards in the first half……
by starfire on Oct 9, 2005 4:53 PM CDT reply actions
I’d like to see Price get activated again. Crayton’s playing too well right now.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:54 PM CDT reply actions
Ouch. 80 yards? Don’t expect that in the 2nd half. They’ll be going for broke.
by Rob2 on Oct 9, 2005 4:54 PM CDT reply actions
I am really impressed with the offensive line today, especially Petitti, Haven’t heard Kearse’s name all half. Allen with two penealties was tha only bad part. Bledsoe is very sharp and you can just tell, he takes charge out there. Where was this team all year, is this the same team, this is more what I thought I’d see all year, hope we keep pressing opposing teams defense from now on. Just have to stop trying to run the ball all the time like last week on first and second downs and play to our strengths and thats throwig the ball.
by Derrick on Oct 9, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions
Is the game on any internet radio station. Need a link please.
thanks
by kmckit on Oct 9, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions
Has Bledsoe even been knocked down today? I don’t remember seeing him go down once. I do, however, remember seeing McNabb on the groung. God, I love it. I said before the season started that I was hoping to see McNabb taste the grass is Texas. Now it’s happening. Let’s kep it up.

Pin your ears back Ware & Co., you’ve got some serious running to do.
Does anyone else think that this type of team (Philly) might actually be what this Defense is best at defending? Knowing we can just pay lip service to the run and play a standard nickel?
I really think this bodes well for the rest of the season. Bill’s no idiot. He softened every team for the rest of the season by practicing our run at all costs and protecting against the run, again at all costs.
by Fighter15 on Oct 9, 2005 5:03 PM CDT reply actions
here’s a thing to think about
our running game hasn’t had a great game yet..
until this game… the pass actually opened up the running game
there hasn’t been much of the saftey creaping up in the box this game…
by MikeA on Oct 9, 2005 5:04 PM CDT reply actions
hey rafael, this sure is looking more like a ‘foundational victory’ than a benchmark win. whaddaya think?
by theogt on Oct 9, 2005 5:27 PM CDT reply actions
theogt,
I started wondering the same thing, but banished it until the game was over before I let it in my head.
by Rafael Vela on Oct 9, 2005 8:01 PM CDT reply actions
I just wanna say one thing right now. HOW BOUT DEM COWBOYS!!!!!!!???
Beautiful, simply beautiful. One game at a time baby. To BP, stay with whats works. Dont change the game plan. Keep DA Boys fired up and go for the gusto everygame with all of your weapons. Keep spreading the ball around. Keep the defense on their heels. See how tired Phillys d got. They could not hang with the boys out there. Way to go. Keep it coming.
by Tony on Oct 9, 2005 10:35 PM CDT reply actions
Here I go again with the “I have been a fan since "68”, anyway that’s out of the way.
This was one of the best Cowboy games I have seen in a long time. Dallas could beat any team in the league if they played like they did the first half.
Even with Parcels going for it on the first of the two 4th and short and missing we still pulled it out. Bill needs to learn “when to hold them and when to fold them.”
I saw a post way back up there where someone said Westbrook was overrated, I do not agree, we had his number, but hands down Westbrook is a good running back, blocking back, receiving back and appears to be a nice guy.
I still think we do not get the respect that Dallas deserves, those in the news business look at this as a fluke of some kind, doing the same the the G-Men would go a long way to bringing some respeect.
Way to go Drew, way to go Dallas Cowboys and way to go Dallas fans! Take care, Curt
