by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

3 offensive TDs in 16 quarters.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

and that against 3 top 5 offenses.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:44 PM CDT reply actions

against us you mean…..yes, ur D is growing up to be a tough one……hopefully we add players to our off line next draft and th team shgould be amazing

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 4:45 PM CDT reply actions

I should have added “Our D has held opponents to…”

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:46 PM CDT reply actions

from seattle side
running game isnt killiing you so be patient

on offense, they will telll hassle that he making wrong reads — wont change

dallas must run but run smart
they are taking witten out but that leaves corners exposed

drew must read shorter

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 4:46 PM CDT reply actions

the oline has suprised me this game..minus the penalties

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 4:49 PM CDT reply actions

rivera must feel he’s hurt he believes he can play better but is getting penalties

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions

see that…nice protection

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions

Does not look like the deep pass is there, so let’s go with what is working (of course Seattle may adjust) but if we can get past the penalties the game is there to be won.

Good luck with Wilma ManTab.

by Gib on Oct 23, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions

tucker got backed up but drew probably should have stepped up.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:50 PM CDT reply actions

2nd key sack off of pettiti

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 4:52 PM CDT reply actions

pettitti moves like my grandma.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:53 PM CDT reply actions

sean is going to hav to do better in stretching laterally

the deep pass is taken away but the short field is there

and the end — but barber cant get there

t thompson where are you?

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 4:55 PM CDT reply actions

Gib, thanks, its gonna suck, but what can you do….

Pettiti, get you $h*t together man….cmon

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 4:57 PM CDT reply actions

nice job again dfense..

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

the offense must adjust to a lateral / mid field game

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

denver leading by 10….

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

put the damn ball in the endzone!!

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 4:59 PM CDT reply actions

ba, turnover on downs. D line need to get more hits on hasselbeck

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:00 PM CDT reply actions

seattle figures that drew cant manage a mid field kind of offense

that when they take the first reciever, that drew will default throw deep

they must adjust to this scheme

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:01 PM CDT reply actions

man i love this radio station

by nate on Oct 23, 2005 5:01 PM CDT reply actions

yeahware got a good one on 3rd down…forced that quick throw

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:02 PM CDT reply actions

we’re getting hits on him…he’s just letting go of the ball quickly, which has also meant that he’s been off target.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 5:02 PM CDT reply actions

nate,
what station is that?

by kellya on Oct 23, 2005 5:02 PM CDT reply actions

the khoy or w/e christian station…just makes me laugh

by nate on Oct 23, 2005 5:03 PM CDT reply actions

bledsoe should have gotten rid of that one. held it way too long

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:03 PM CDT reply actions

drew still looking to glenn vertical

drew tendancy must not be able to adjust

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:04 PM CDT reply actions

We desperately need another TD. How much longer can we hold them off?

by F.J on Oct 23, 2005 5:05 PM CDT reply actions

seahawks are doing a good job of covering all of our weapons. i guess thats why we’ve been running effectively.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 5:06 PM CDT reply actions

I am starting to believe that our D is going to have to score a TD on this game for us to win it…our offense looks bad

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:07 PM CDT reply actions

our d has shown all year that they can hold up as long as it takes…hope they do it here too

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:07 PM CDT reply actions

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:12 PM CDT reply actions

ok their D has to be running out of steam by now…lets get something done.

by theogt on Oct 23, 2005 5:13 PM CDT reply actions

im starting to think our offense isnt gonna show up today…final 7-3

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:13 PM CDT reply actions

Dammit!

by sharkz on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

Picking on kickers is something that the Paul Maguires of the world do, but man, Cortez just lost his job. Period. Those three points were huge.

by Rafael Vela on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

if BP could find another kicker he would

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

Seattle is a good team. That doesn’t excuse the mistakes we’re making, but we came in as the underdogs.

by Jake Ediger on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

i don’t know why the O seemed to play for 3 when cortez is this bad

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

will that series cost us the game????

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:26 PM CDT reply actions

run for nothing, run for nothing again, now ya have to pass good play calling

by rmac on Oct 23, 2005 5:27 PM CDT reply actions

this will give momentum to these guys……it’s got to be frustrating to play like this…we get the ball at the 8and come up with nothing

there’s your fisrt stop…

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:29 PM CDT reply actions

i just knew they would not get a first on us. our D is too tough

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:29 PM CDT reply actions

thats a momentum changer if I ever saw one

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:29 PM CDT reply actions

Good defense! Should get decent field pos. , now lets take a long drive and get some points!

by sharkz on Oct 23, 2005 5:30 PM CDT reply actions

there is no more questions about this defense, they are really good

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:30 PM CDT reply actions

how ineffective is the offense? for us to hold great offense and have this score?
zimmer A+
sean payton D

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:30 PM CDT reply actions

Parcells is wired. Nice forearm to Todd Haley, guess only he talks to refs

lets have some throwing on first and second down this series.

by Jake Ediger on Oct 23, 2005 5:32 PM CDT reply actions

petitti mostly

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:32 PM CDT reply actions

If we can get the ball to the fifty yard line, I want to see a flee flicker.

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:32 PM CDT reply actions

ok let’s throw the incomplete and wait for the D to save us again….playcalling sucks today….AGAIN

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

This play calling is driving me nucking futs!

by Joe on Oct 23, 2005 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

And brother sean will depend on defense

so S payton is setting us up for washington / NY end game
please say it isnt so

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

You mean run run run punt….

by Gib on Oct 23, 2005 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

by sharkz on Oct 23, 2005 5:33 PM CDT reply actions

Oh man! (slaps hand to forehead)

by Joe on Oct 23, 2005 5:34 PM CDT reply actions

why has the playcalling become so conservative all of a sudden?? run, run, run. i want to see the offense i saw score 33 against PHI

by rparr on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

dont worry peeps…we’re still winning..

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

That FG was big. Doesn’t look like Seattle has any deep speed though, maybe we can protect that 4 point lead (I may have to see a cardiologist if we continue to play this way).

by Gib on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

Has the passing offense been so bad that we have to run with a couple of rookies on every play?

by BlueCheese on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

McBriar still looks GOOD!

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

we need protection…it has not been the case today….

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:35 PM CDT reply actions

well, what would be a cowboy game without another heart attack finish

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:36 PM CDT reply actions

if all of us internet wannabe football rats can read what dallas will do on offense, how much more can seattle defense coaches see it coming?

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:36 PM CDT reply actions

Not watching the game, but as far as playcalling, spread the blame around-you can bet Payton is getting his cue from BP on how to call it-does he want to force this D into the same position to see if they can do it?

by larry on Oct 23, 2005 5:37 PM CDT reply actions

does anyone have a stream???

Alexander has done nothing in this game, 47 yards rushing

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

that’s a bad challenge. we need out time outs in this game

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

wasted time out…..that was a catch

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

looked like a good catch to me

by rmac on Oct 23, 2005 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

so is it a catch or not

by BlueCheese on Oct 23, 2005 5:38 PM CDT reply actions

I’d like to hear from all of you that I was “stupid”, by saying cut Cortez last week even after a winning kick. Where are you?

by mr. T on Oct 23, 2005 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

larry…8:39

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

Jim, I posted it ten times so far, scroll up

by Derrick on Oct 23, 2005 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

it’s too early to be running out the clock…two straight possessions running the ball and no first down…why not throw something 10 yds..but i havnt won and super bowls so…

by ba on Oct 23, 2005 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

well if BP is cuing payton so hard Bp might as well call plays

payton has a much shorter lease that zimmer

and that spells W-A-S-H-I-N-G-T-O-N

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:39 PM CDT reply actions

Mr T,
what kicker is out there that you would sign?? tell us

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

oh man what an opportunity, henry.

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

sign any young kicker, then bring back the old kicking coach-he worked wonders with a bunch of nobodies

by larry on Oct 23, 2005 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

this is too much….we need more games like the Philly one or I will die before this season ends

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

i still hate cortez

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 5:42 PM CDT reply actions

Derrick we could sign ’theogt’s grandmother.
She kicks better then Cortez
Blocks better then petitti
And catches better the R. Williams

ask Larry about who he would want for a kicker

good position again….cmon coaches…..remember Oakland and remember Washington…we cant expect the D to save our butts forever…we need a freaking TD

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 5:45 PM CDT reply actions

my point is-bring that coach we had for years (No name coming to mind)-we took nobody after nobody and made them into reliable, above avg. kickers other teams were always happy to have

mr. T Says:

October 16th, 2005 at 7:25 pm
I would cut Cortez and there are better kickers out there. Youâ€â"¢re right Cundsniff misses those FGâ€â"¢s as well. Iâ€â"¢d look at Rhett Kopp, who was cut by NE in camp, or Jeff Chandler out of Florida that was cut by the Skins in camp.

hey, that’s it.

He has had the whole field to work with and his avg is 37 yards.
McBriar has a 40 avg. but also put them inside the 20 4 times

The HC is over his shoulder approving every call Payton makes. That’s Parcells’ game he’s calling. And he called about half a dozen great plays in the first 40 minutes that were undone by bad line play. It’s a team game, all the way through the staff.

And Bledose cant throw that INT at the end….it almost looked like he was aiming at the defender who never backed up….that was stupid on him

GO ASTROS!

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 6:22 PM CDT reply actions

ManTab,

Yes. You got it. The defense is fantastic, except when it has one stop to make. That’s the case in Washington, against the Giants last week and today.

Nate, linus, ManTab again,

Want to send an assistant down the river. Go after Sparano. There were calls down the field. And there were passes called in the red zone. And there were sacks and holding penalties. The line sucked for four quarters. Blown counts. Holding penalties. Blown snaps. You can be the bastard genetic son of Tom Landry and Bill Walsh calling on his best day, but if you’ve got THIS line in front of you, you’re gonna look bad.

And let’s save a big heading dose of blame for Bledsoe. He made at least three of those tunnel vision throws to Glenn in double coverage today. That last one was the only one that burned him.

We can’t score in the red zone the past 2 weeks! lets try a pass every now and then down there and maybe keep the D guessing alittle!

by K.D. on Oct 23, 2005 6:23 PM CDT reply actions

Aside from Kodiak being a PUNK!

several comments:

Dallas has the best 57min Defense in the NFL
Dallas is 6 – 1 if NOT for the Field Goal Kicker…
but, I’m not placing all the blame on him, totally, again, nor the Defense; this IS the Offense, and it’s the BP conservative BS, that’s infects Payton’s brain; one extra FG in the Skin game and this one, and last week, and this isn’t even an issue that’s being discussed….
But, the playcalling and conservative stuff, caused Dallas to be in the position to have to rely on Cortez, and Cortez is not up to it…
So, Bill can blame Rookies, he can blame whatever, but it’s him, his Playcalling philosopy and Payton’s fowllowing him….
Besides, Bledsoe was just OFF all game, you could see it….
Probably goes back to the O-Line, Bledsoe has scatter feet because he’s not sure when he’s getting hit…
There were 3 glaring weaknesses, going into this season; FG kicker; O-Line, Secondary.
Secondary has done okay, so it comes down to coaching, playcalling, FG Kicker; that’s it in a nutshell….

by skullmunky on Oct 23, 2005 6:26 PM CDT reply actions

Rafael
have to realize that BP is responsible for assistant payton if payton call poorly — and he has consistently — then there is something going wrong in the chemistry

when a defense plays so well and the offense consistently lets down

this is a problem with the play calling and if BP cant get it done with Payton, then it falls on BP

there is no way this team should have lost with decent play calling

if BP agrees with you then we keep doing the same thing

look there is a pattern here — the constant has been offense

the call against Rivera was wrong

but if BP agrees with you then I guess we say that Washington, NY, and now Seattle all offensive line problems? HA

Sorry but this falls on Payton falls on BP

nobody and I mean no other team has this consistently happen to them

ahead in 4th quarter a BP guarantee? Not anymore with Payton

You know this playing great defense for 58 -59 minutes ssssssss……. stuff and only scoring enough points to keep the other team in the game has been and is old. Every game we have played (with the exception of the Eagles game) have been won or lost in this manner. As we kicked the last field goal to put us up 10 to 3, I think every Cowboys fan out there was thinking, here we go again, another washington game. One again, the offense did not do enough to win the game. Parcells should have a long talk with all members of the offense (coaching staff included). As the reality is that Da Boyz should be 6 and 1 (with the only semi legitimate loss being to the Raiders and even that one went down to the last offensive series for the Cowboys).

I’m torqued off too; but go visit www.redneck.com Kodiak, if you’re gonna talk totally unacceptable crap here….

Raf, okay, as usual, you are the voice of sanity, IF the O-line is better, the Dallas O probably does score enough points in the Skin and ‘Hawks game to win it, both times; but also, Cortez had HIS chance in both, and didn’t deliver, and because the O-line is so weak, BP and Payton HAVE to compensate…

Anyway, I’m actually not surprised; I predicted this outcome to my wife, mid-way thru the 3rd quarter, it’s just what happens this year…that’s all…

I don’t know about all of you? But I am getting tired of this conservative play calling by BP & Payton. We only score 1 touchdown in the last couple of games. Instead we are run, run, pass. RUN, RUN, PASS!. Plus, does Bledsoe know anyone else besides Glenn is on this team? You can’t find anyone else when you decide you’re going to Glenn automatically. Where is our other receivers, tight end and heaven forbid we try to actually score points during the game, instead of trying to playball control. We had 20 some odd seconds on the clock at the end of the half, 2-3 time outs and we decided to down it and walk off the field. At the end of the game, we have the ball and we’re calling a flea flicker. Give me a break. No, I believe we will keep this kicker because there probably isn’t a better one out there. But we should be bringing in free agents now! Enough said!!!!!

Offense
Deffense

Cortez missed due to a crappy snap. really we have to score 7 when you get down there and put it away especially after the turnover. FG’s won’t get us to the promised land. That D is phenomenal excepting the obvious last 2 mins but it would sure help if th eO would pitch in and either finish a drive or hang onto the ball instead of waitng for the D to bail them out time and again. So close to being Kings.

From the standpoint that he’s started a few seasons off great only to fade in the second half, I do. I call it the Kenny Rogers syndrom without all the anger management issues.

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 7:05 PM CDT reply actions

I think linus has a point…is this bill’s fault or sean’s fault…this screws up my reasoning…

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:07 PM CDT reply actions

emrdog,

You’ve touched on something that’s been nagging me the past two weeks. The bad Bledsoe is starting to emerge. Some of his bad habits — locking on to receivers, is starting to come out. And they need to be arrested soon before he goes out and throws four picks in a game.

The Cowboys are the last team in the division to get the bye. In years past I always thought they got it too soon. This year, it’s too late. Considering the work they need with Petitti and getting Tucker and now the center position sorted out, not to mention that they probably need not just a kicker but a new snapper (did you notice how ALL the punt snaps were to McBriar’s right? When the game stayed 7-3 I was worried that the snapper would sail one wide past him and THAT would cost us the game. )

I think they can get the rough edges worked out. Look at Washington. They played the Cowboys, got sacked five times and had Brunell chased like crazy. They go to bye, work for two weeks on their protection and blitz pickup, and they’ve been a different team since then.

I only wish the break was before the Cards game, not after it.

by Rafael Vela on Oct 23, 2005 7:08 PM CDT reply actions

Doesn’t matter whose fault it is……. just get it fixed so we can move on.

by K-Vaughn on Oct 23, 2005 7:09 PM CDT reply actions

there’s no reasoning here guys….

The offense has to score more and the D has to play when it counts…..that’s it…..there’s not much more than that…the Offense has to score by excecuting, the coaches have to call the plays that will give us the the wins, and the deffense has to stop the opponent and get turn overs

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 7:10 PM CDT reply actions

Man Tab,

You are correct. The Defense has pretty much produced up until the last couple of minutes in a game. The Offense needs better execution.

by K-Vaughn on Oct 23, 2005 7:14 PM CDT reply actions

Rafael,

If we need the bye to make sure we put it together for Arizona, at home then might as well call the season a bust man…..

Arizona sucks and we have to beat them easily…..even with Cortez at QB…If we cant beat Arizona, then just play all the rookies and start thinking about next year with 3 picks in the draft dedicated to the O line….

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 7:14 PM CDT reply actions

Rafael,
I totally concer….I knew without a doubt today might be a bit rough knowing the problems with the o line…and yes, oh please bye week come quick…take us away, oh bye week.
But as far as bledsoe goes. He just looks like a different QB now. In games like San Diego and Philly he was making impossiblly accurate throws…and now I see him just freezing up and taking a beating. I think today would be a good time to reinstate that old nick name they gave him…starts with s….think elise island in new york…we’ve got to somehow (and I don’t know how) make him the “bus driver” like everyone has been talking. through the first part of the season we haven’t done that at all…we’ve relied on bledsoe way to much. young guys…(take your pick of RBs) need to step up.
Let’s all remember why we are so upset….DALLAS SHOULD HAVE WON THIS GAME !!!!

have to let your people go if sean thinks he must be BP then he isnt being sean and isnt being set free

Either let sean go or BP come and do it yourself but you cant have it both ways

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 7:16 PM CDT reply actions

Raf, I agree I think I saw the bad Bledsoe today…the one that really stood out for me, was the run on 3rd down, he just locked in on that run, and wouldn’t throw to Witten who was runing open parallel to him for 10 yards, for anything…that’s a TD, and game over there, and then we wouldn’t all be banging on Cortez or BP..

by Dale in Atlanta on Oct 23, 2005 7:17 PM CDT reply actions

Bledose had a bad throw at the end…other than that he has been over par so far this season. Now that I think about it, I wouldn’t put this one on him….again, we were predicatble on offense, our protection was bad today and we just can’t expect the QB t play well with those two factors…

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

DALe in Atlanta,
I share your pain on that 3rd down Bledsoe run…it was embarassing….bad bledsoe day.

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:20 PM CDT reply actions

I am calm now after scaring a bar ful of people watching the Bills game.

1. – Bye cortez, I wanted you to do well but you are done.

2. – This one is on Bledsoe. Too many passes to Glenn in Dbl coverage, held the ball to long. Locked onto his first option too much. MISSED WITTEN when he was rolling out on that naked bootleg play to the right.

3. – the flea flicker? Again?!? You do that once in the season and then leave it alone. You think you are playing Mississippi Valley this week??

4. – Stop with the talk about the D. The offense scored 10 points. I am waiting for someone to talk s**t about RWilliams. Oh, by the way, I think the keith davis experiment has about twelve seconds left. he was the weakest player on the Defense.

5. – Kodiak go f**k yourself.

by AlanTdot on Oct 23, 2005 7:21 PM CDT reply actions

IF I stand back, and take a totally dispassionate look at this; there was NO one of us, who really thought, realistically, going into the Bye week, that Dallas could honestly be 5 – 3, with a really good chance to have been either 7 – 1, or even 8-0; but all those were probabilities…and it’s amazing…

So, I think that closeness of it all, is what causes the sheer frustration of it all, for everyone…

If Dallas had been Blown out, in 6 of the 8 games, it would be a different thing, totally, but the closeness of the games, and the 3 heartbreak losses make it worse…

Also, I think, we all know, that as a poster said above, Dallas is really playing for next year, not this one; because I’m not sure anyone realistically thinks they’re a SB winner this year….

The part that scares me about that, though, is that Bledose is a year older, so is Keyshawn, and LA, and TG, and Rivera; and IF The don’t do it next year, then, they have to retool all those positions, before they can think SB again, and that could take another 2 – 3 years after that….

by Dale in Atlanta on Oct 23, 2005 7:22 PM CDT reply actions

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:26 PM CDT reply actions

What kicker is out there? Everyone keeps talking about getting rid of cortez but who are we going to replace him with?

by K-Vaughn on Oct 23, 2005 7:27 PM CDT reply actions

I think we need to get a new long snapper. I think that will solve a lot of ills in the kicking area.

by K-Vaughn on Oct 23, 2005 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

I think a any minor league soccer player can kick better than cortez right now so I don’t think it matters

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

Good thing we have our whipping boy next week – Arizona. I was actually wondering if Bledsoe would get up after being hammered on the bootleg. after this game I wanted to see Romo.

by AlanTdot on Oct 23, 2005 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

k-vaughn

its kinda of like anybody-will-be-better

the team doesnt trust cortez bp doesnt either

so that chemistry or lack thereof is the problem

bp will find someone else

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 7:29 PM CDT reply actions

Dale, I am not that worried about receivers….I think KJ has at least three more years, Glenn about 2 and then Crayton, Copper are not that bad. We do need something better than Romo or Henson after Bledose….the O line needs to be retooled completely via draft this year…..just like we fixed the D last year

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 7:30 PM CDT reply actions

Parcells plays the percentages, the odds put the other team up against the wall do or die, this causes them to play their best and we lose, or get lucky and win a coin flip…the only game they did’t do this was against philly. They have to play like underdogs to win there not good enough YET

by TM on Oct 23, 2005 7:36 PM CDT reply actions

All I know is that if we lose to Arizona then we might as well play the rookies like an earlier post mentioned and hope that we can somehow draft Leinart and a young stud reciever

by Gavin on Oct 23, 2005 7:39 PM CDT reply actions

TM good point….i think today was a good example of how Parcells “plays the percentages” ….but let’s think about those percentages…we were without crayton, J.J., and Flozell…on the road…in all honesty we shouldn’t have had much of a shot…but I think in a situation like that we’ve got to put the other team on the ropes and we didn’t do that.

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:39 PM CDT reply actions

Gavin, if you put Leinart and a stud WR with that O line, you will suffer cronic depression all through next season my friend…

You need a good O line and I’ll guarantee you we’ll get deep into the playoffs…..

by ManTab on Oct 23, 2005 7:41 PM CDT reply actions

ManTab, you’re right about the O-line; despite the sometimes mistakes, I thing the RB stable is very good, maybe the deepest the Cowboys have had, since the 70’s; most people don’t realize, because Emmitt was so good, and so durable, how lucky we were in the 90’s, getting by with essentially him, and him alone, and Moose at FB.

I think Polite is probably pretty good at FB, if they’d use him more; so the unit that needs the most work next year, is the O-Line, for sure, and if Crayton can come back, and continue to make progress, and they can get one/two more serviceable years out of Bledsoe, Keyshawn, and TG, then maybe all is okay.

And, let me speak the hearesy, I’m a FAN of Nguyen, for sure, but it seems to these uneducated eyes, that Shandle and Fujita and James, playing more since he got hurt, have solidified the LB corps like crazy.

Except for L Jordan/Raiders, when the Defense was just weak for some reason, the Defense has just basically SHUT DOWN every major RB they’ve faced this year…

by Dale in Atlanta on Oct 23, 2005 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

Total homer question…

Josh Brown kicks the 50 yard game winner then takes his helmet off and throws it to the ground. Isn’t that a penalty? Nevermind me, just bitter.

by JKDallas on Oct 23, 2005 7:47 PM CDT reply actions

DALE AND RAFAEL,
Coid the rain have played apart or maybe bledsoe was having a off day since it seemed that he was looking all day to throw into double coverage.

by kodiak on Oct 23, 2005 7:48 PM CDT reply actions

Rafael. You guys are right. Bledsoe has gotten down to locking on to a receiver like Glenn all the time. So Seattle chose to double team Glenn a lot and that was exactly where he was going. Somebody has to be open if the other team is double teaming Glenn all the time. Get Anthony Thomas out of there. Make him the 3rd stringer and use MB111 and TT if JJ is still hurt. Do we have a probelm with JJ gettting hurt every season?

by TDTEXAS on Oct 23, 2005 7:51 PM CDT reply actions

why is he here? I thought he was kicked off?

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:52 PM CDT reply actions

The bottom line problem right now with the Cowboys is what it has been all season – they are far far too conservative offensively. It is though they play to not lose insead of being aggressive and going for the win. It is so damn frustrating to watch the run the ball on so many plays where the play action pass would seem to be the more logical approach. Didn’t they learn anything from the Eagles’ game?? I mean, they were very aggressive offensively in that game and put the Eagles on the defensive from the beginning. In this game, they continued to run the ball 95% of time in the red zone. They could not capitalize on the mistakes of the Seahawks which they should have easily been able to do.

There really needs to be some soul searching on this. Because Bledsoe is not the most mobile of QBs, you need to not place him in the position of 3rd and long all of the time. I was nearly pulling my hair out on this one.

Parcells has no one to blame but himself for his inept and conservative approach to offense. The defense also needs to play a lot smarter when in the last two minutes of the game and stop getting away from what they were doing for the first 58 minutes.

by Robert on Oct 23, 2005 7:54 PM CDT reply actions

TDTex,

I feel vgood about BarberIII. i think that he is the second best runner on the team and if he can stay healthy and JJ can’t then…..

i don’t know why we went away from MBIII in the second half. So TT can get meaningless yards?

by AlanTdot on Oct 23, 2005 7:55 PM CDT reply actions

We lost this game because parcells lost his cool. If I was that WR coach, my resignation would be on Jones desk tomorrow morning.

by josh on Oct 23, 2005 7:58 PM CDT reply actions

i disagree I think TT looked considerably better than Barber…he was much quicker…better vision…I think barber looked good but i still think he lacks the vision and quickness to be consistantly productive

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 7:59 PM CDT reply actions

How in the hell do we lose another one like that? BP coaches like a pussy offensively. We shut down another No. 1 offense and score 10 points. With the ball inside the 10 with less than 3 minutes left—we score 6 and the game is over—but what does BP do?—He calls two runs up the middle and a bootleg!!!!!!!! Furthermore Bledsoe has got to get over his love affair with Glenn. Seattle knew he would look that way on that last play cause that’s what he’s done all year—Keyshawn is the only one you throw that ball to…period. Just stupid anyway with no timeouts—what did BP expect to accomplish with that throw anyway—setup for a hail mary? Stupid, stupid football. The defense should be pissed that because BP is scared to open up the offense—we keep losing close games—unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

by Marlymack on Oct 23, 2005 8:11 PM CDT reply actions

Ermdog,

If you were Ray Rhodes and you saw TT come into the game you would

1) know that it was a run and stack the box cause this kid can’t block

and 2) bring your safeties in on the edges to neutralize his speed to the outside.

TT is two seasons removed from playing at Irving HIGH SCHOOL! Barber had 95 yards on what 25 carries? He is the #2 RB. TT needs another training camp before he will be able to make a big impact on something other thanST. Remember what BP says there are a lot of guys that can run, but can they do anything else?

by AlanTdot on Oct 23, 2005 8:19 PM CDT reply actions

I agree, but I am worried about JJ. He did not seem to be the same quick running back we had last year. Maybe over-coached? Let him change the hole and back up and hit the cut back when he needs to without getting chewed out. I believe that was one of his strengths last year. I hope he is not an injury prone runner? But I also like Barber. Still being a rookie, but making great strides when given the chance. TT will be very good by the end of the year also. We need to be aggresive and attack every game just like we did to the Eagles.

by TDTEXAS on Oct 23, 2005 8:28 PM CDT reply actions

Parcells must stop trying to keep these games close or he will watch his best dallas team yet, miss the playoffs—we should be 6-1, and really he never even tried to score against Oakland—we should be 7-0!!!!!!! His conservative playcalling has cost us at least 6 to 8 wins in 3 years!!! This game should have been a blowout, but BP shows no faith in his offense. Keyshawn cannot be stopped in the redzone—-another fade inside the 10 would have iced the game—but he calls Bledsoe to bootleg? This is the best defense in football—they are just starting to gel—-and BP is wasting it with horrendous playcalling. No deep balls today after the one Bledsoe threw in double-coverage to glenn that got picked off.. He refuses to use Price’s speed—-Seattle was obviously taking Glenn awayall day and BP has no answer for it. I know that Payton didn’t call the plays down the stretch—BP is too much a control freak to let that happen, so I know BP f’d it up. Roy’s pick should have ended this game!!!!!!!

by Marlymack on Oct 23, 2005 8:54 PM CDT reply actions

I’d be careful while saying that all the fault falls into Parcells and Payton shoulders, they weren’t standing at tackle, Bryce Fisher owned Petitti and Wistrom (for those who were doubting him) showed what he’s been showing for 8 years now, he’s relentless and is pretty good in run support. How many times a run crumbled because neither Petitti nor Tucker could handle their assignment? I counted 5 runs.

And then you look at all those penalties… 2 were drive killers.

I won’t say that the blame falls on the coaches, the play calling was conservative because the Line kept the game that way.

by Chandus on Oct 23, 2005 9:09 PM CDT reply actions

For a team that has all there vets on offense why in the hell are we being so conservative on the offense and putting all the pressure on the backs of are young defense. Are defense is playing very well but what is BP thinking by playing so darn conservative on O. We need to go out and open it up and take the pressure off are deffense. Our defense is young and still trying to gel as a dominant unit and doing quite well at it but they just dont need to always be put in the situation to have to shut the other team down at the end of the game. If BP continues to put them in that situation they are going to lose confidence and regress.Bottom line is BP needs to open it up and play to win not to just keep it close and expect our young D to save the game week in and week out!

by Leo on Oct 23, 2005 9:18 PM CDT reply actions

o -line or offensive play calling? which caused? a little like chicken or the egg.

I think play calling caused the problem.
It became overly predictable within a range

This play calling created undue pressure on o-line

utlimately created too much pressure on D — and too much opportunity for the seahawks

its the same o-line that created how many points against eagles?
the same eagles that stymied san diego which had conservative play calling today

o line failed because of predictable play calling

by linus on Oct 23, 2005 9:19 PM CDT reply actions

Parcells is a dumb ass. We should have taken that game to OT and given the D a little rest.

by Cash on Oct 23, 2005 9:22 PM CDT reply actions

Chandus,

Even if the play calling was a bit conservative – I don’t think so – How come we were only a gimme field goal and a bad bootleg call and a poor decesion by Bledsoe from a 13 point swing?

Wistrom had a good game. Nice numbers. Whatever…

I didn’t see him bleed Tucker, I saw coverage sacs and/or Bledsoe throwing late after locking in on one guy.

by AlanTdot on Oct 23, 2005 9:23 PM CDT reply actions

BarberIII was having a monster game until the TT experiment was again given the go-ahead. It ain’t pre season. Let him play on ST and maybe one or two third downs after the first half. Why stop going to MBIII?

I don’t want to sound like a whiner here, but did anyone else see the block in the back on the “game-clinching” interceptoin. I’ve watched the replay 20 times and it is clear to me that Glenn was pushed in the back by a Seattle player (hard time making out whether it was Manuel or Herndon) after the interception was made and once it started to be run back. I am also of the opinion that Glenn would have tripped up Babineaux either (a) making him fall to the ground right there and thus the Hawks would not have been in fg position or (b) he would have been severely slowed down such that a tackle could have likely occuured before the point at which Witten knocked him out of bounds. I wasn’t aware that there is a hiatus on block-in-the-back calls. Hmm.

Man I bet that was ugly flight home!

by sharkz on Oct 23, 2005 10:28 PM CDT reply actions

Dunno about the block in the back.

I haven’t had the stomach to watch a replay of that pick.

And even if there was a block in the back, I’m too tired to complain about the officiating.

Cowboys had their chances to put the game away after two fourth quarter turnovers by Seattle.

They only converted those TO’s to three measly points.

And there’s your game.

by Brandon on Oct 23, 2005 10:38 PM CDT reply actions

I agree with Spencer. The first time I saw that replay I saw the block in the back. But we shouldn’t be complaining about that. We should be complaining about being inside the 10 yard line 2 times, and coming away with 3 POINTS!!! 3 Points. If Jose Cortez would have just made the simple chip shot, which by the way, that chance came only because of a very untimely injury by Billy Cundiff, we would’ve won because Bledsoe wouldn’t have had to throw into double coverage, he would’ve been taking a knee and keeping us at first place in the NFC East, instead we are in LAST.

by Wyatt on Oct 23, 2005 10:52 PM CDT reply actions

Listen, M. Barber ain’t as good as you all are giving him credit for…I remember the Oakland loss and there were times when he looked awful. Granted I will say he is bigger and may be able to take on rushers better but thompson runs way better. And its not just his speed, he runs with purpose. Barber will never be a starting back anywhere. Thompson has the potential to be a starter in a few years. And so what, I know this isn’t the preseason, but we needed yards. Barber can’t bounce it outside, he lacks the speed…those little 3 yard runs toward the end of the game were not getting it done.
Overall, it’s just my opinion but there are more important reasons why dallas lost today…Barber did run well…not well enought, but that’s not why they lost today. It was bad play calling, bad Bledsoe, and bad mojo…where’s the mojo? Anyone remember the team that squashed Philly? Where’s the MoJO??

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 11:48 PM CDT reply actions

that lost was on the offense and the conservative play calling.

all game long we were giving that game away.

also the one of the difference between a winning team and a losing team is a good kicker and we don’t have one or we had one. cortez is not going to cut it.

da boys played not to lose instead of playing to win. they need to get that attitude if they are going to be a winner this year. they simply tried to sit on the lead instead of scoring some more.

i guess drew bledsoe has started reading his own press clippings huh! what happen to just managing the game and not turning it over?

lastly, get rid of cortez, he lost the redskins game and this one.

go cowboys!!!

by alan on Oct 23, 2005 11:53 PM CDT reply actions

But where’s the MOJO???? it’s the flipping mojo!!!!

by emrdog on Oct 23, 2005 11:54 PM CDT reply actions

Agree. The loss can’t be blamed on the officials, however I lived in Seattle and was at the Dal/sea game last year and had to listen to SEattle fans whine about the refs blowing it. I just like to have a little ammo if they want to bring that crap up again.

All that being said, the conservative crap killed me also. Although one could form a reasonable argument that Parcells’ LACK of conservatism on that final possession is what cost us a trip to overtime.

I think I am going to go wash my contact lenses in spicy buffalo wing sauce so that I can continue this pain I’m feeling.

by rrspencer on Oct 24, 2005 12:08 AM CDT reply actions

a couple notes here
1. The offensive line is not to blame, bledsoe simply had no one to throw to, we found that out on the last interception, it was a desperate attempt and he had time.

2. Cortez is gone. So we can’t blame it on him anymore. Even though many are to blame for this loss.

3. Where was our defense on that last Seatle drive.

4. Did anyone see our tight end wide open in the endzone when bledsoe decided to run it!!!!!! bledsoe just doesn’t have that vision anymore i guess.

5. Blame it on the rain.

Its still early Cowboys fans.
It was an “away” game….expected loss.
We will be O.K.

I’m gonna at the Cardinals game. We’re gonna whip em bad. Too bad Julius is still injured. He’s my Notre Dame guy! I need him there. We should be 6-1 at least. I can’t take these losses anymore, first the Redskins, now everygame i am having a heart attack and I’m a teenager. How long will I live when I’m 60 if I have this much stress every Sunday!! Let’s do it like we did to the Eagles, if we can beat the NFC Champions, we can beat nearly anyone.

GO COWBOYS! BEAT CARDINALS!
