We better stay greedy and come out with urgency in the 2nd half and score points. The cards can play, and beating Dallas is still like the superbowl for them.
Don’t they always close schools and have a parade in Arizona after they beat Dallas?

BTW, nice to be on one of these freacking Hurricanes…no power, no gas, no food, no crap for almost three days…some people still w/o power doen here…it sucks…I can’t imagine what New Orleans was like (or still is)
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 1:43 PM CST reply actions
Dude, you have NO idea. Barber is not only running hard and fast, but he’s BLOCKING and CATCHING the ball well too. He’s got a complete game thus far.
Wonder if they’re gonna spell him and bring in Thompson or let Barber keep playing? I say leave him in, for now.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 1:44 PM CST reply actions
yea, i mean i wanna see tyson but we shouldnt ruin the momentum he’s gonna be havin, if he startrs strugling, THEN we should try a fresh set of legs with thompson ya know?
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 1:45 PM CST reply actions
leave him in….let the rookie get some reps…we all know by know A-train wont be here next year…let him sit and only play him if we have injuries
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 1:46 PM CST reply actions
im waintin and waitin to break the 100yd mark for the first time this year! c’mon barber!
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 1:48 PM CST reply actions
Bledsoe coulda fought for that ball! Did ya’ll see that? It was right in front of him- he just gave it up. damn.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 1:49 PM CST reply actions
if we dont win this one because of stuppidities like the one we just saw, ill kill someone…they should leave those two snapping the ball until their fingers bleed to see if they ever learn…this is ridiculous already
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 1:50 PM CST reply actions
if i was a coach playing against the cowboys, id never punt, field goals are automatic against us
by Koolaid on Oct 30, 2005 1:53 PM CST reply actions
pulling out too soon 4 times this season already….we should have larry allen sit on his head everytime he fumbles like that…let’s see if he cant hold it….
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 1:54 PM CST reply actions
someone needs to rack rackers!
kidding.
least we held ’em. nice having a AWESOME defense. Offense needs to repay them for the bail out with a TD!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 1:54 PM CST reply actions
w/ o this defense, we would be no where near our record, the whole offense should do something for our revamped “D”. what about that tyson thompson, hes doin good on Special teams huh?
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 1:56 PM CST reply actions
Now let’s stay under control and march down the field and score!
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 1:56 PM CST reply actions
Rich, this AWESOME D needs to play until the end….yes, it is good, it just has to be good when it counts too…last week we were saying the same thing about this D and we couldnt stop seattle at the end
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 1:56 PM CST reply actions
Barber has nice leg drive, never stops on the play
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 1:58 PM CST reply actions
wow the cards have a lot of penalties
this o line still is pissing me of tho
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:02 PM CST reply actions
why is barber out? i mean i know hes havin a career day but let him take that momentum and keep goin. but it is nice to let TT be in for some fresh legs
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:04 PM CST reply actions
is it possible that we can throw the freakin ball on first down in the redzone
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:07 PM CST reply actions
i dont have a problem with the play calling, as long as it keeps working
by Koolaid on Oct 30, 2005 2:08 PM CST reply actions
if they call the same pass to KJ its another easy TD
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:09 PM CST reply actions
why throw it and risk an int so close to the goal when barber is havin a great day??
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:09 PM CST reply actions
ooops….at least I guessed the call (I liked the call too)
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:10 PM CST reply actions
does anyone know the ball possession comaprison between us and the cards??
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:10 PM CST reply actions
Berry is INCREDIBLE. He should be a Cowboy. Wonder how much money we “saved” by passing on him and signing Wiley…
We coulda gotten a little more creative on that last TD drive. Damn fieldgoal….
Good job Suisham!!!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:10 PM CST reply actions
the td before to KJ was on a second down play, it’s a harder play on thrid, expecting it
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:10 PM CST reply actions
uisham has been dead middle on all his kicks…..they have been short attempts, but for being his first game the guy looks good
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:11 PM CST reply actions
does anyone know the ball possession comaprison between us and the cards??
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:12 PM CST reply actions
I just hopes he has a 50 yarder today, to see if he has the leg and if he’s accurat
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:12 PM CST reply actions
This game ain’t over.
…Damn. And I wanted to see Romo. Oh, well.
GO Defense!! We havn’t seen a PICK yet!!! And Ware’s gotta get a sack to start a new streak!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:12 PM CST reply actions
better get longer kickoffs than that if you want to stick around.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:14 PM CST reply actions
yea i know he doesnt seem to have a strong leg, i doubt he’d make even a 45 yarder
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:15 PM CST reply actions
arrington is terrible, mccown has more yards than him
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:16 PM CST reply actions
why do the cards even try to run the ball? they are awful at it
by Koolaid on Oct 30, 2005 2:16 PM CST reply actions
boy, our third down conversions are horrible today, the cards are 50% on third downs.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:17 PM CST reply actions
we need a stop, we cant let these people hang around…I dont trust our D in the last 2 minutes….
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:18 PM CST reply actions
This game’s gett’n heavy.
Nice hit by Davis. talking trash afterward too, I like that.
Ware got clocked too.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:19 PM CST reply actions
we need a stop, we cant let these people hang around…I dont trust our D in the last 2 minutes….
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:19 PM CST reply actions
Or better yet,a sack by Ware and we recover the fumble…lol
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 2:21 PM CST reply actions
is we stop them here on 3rd down, they wont be able to make a FG, it would be a 54 yarder, rackers is good but i doubt he’d make it
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:21 PM CST reply actions
3rd and 10….stop em dammit…dont let them hang around
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:21 PM CST reply actions
I am watchin game cast on ESPN.com and it says we have zero penalties. Is this true?
by Trev on Oct 30, 2005 2:23 PM CST reply actions
I don’t remember any penalties by Dallas. All the first half’s were by the cards for sure.
We need a HUGE drive here. Not a good spot.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:25 PM CST reply actions
we’re gonna play conservative here so as to avoid the turnover. 3 and out?
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:26 PM CST reply actions
at least they tried…..I hate those 3 runs and out because were up…..I am afraid of our D at the end
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:28 PM CST reply actions
I HATE that freaking chickens*** strategy!!!
Worse thing I’ve seen today!!! AAHHH!!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:28 PM CST reply actions
Afraid of our D in the end? Okay- so they need to NOT just give them back the ball. We play ourselves right out of position to win… Hello washington….
sux
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:30 PM CST reply actions
Interception!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Run back for a TD by Henry!!!!!!!!!!!!
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 2:30 PM CST reply actions
I missed it because I was watching A. Bryant catching a ball out of bounds,,,nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:30 PM CST reply actions
holy crap!!!!!!!! what a team, we are so on fire, watch out PHI and NYG
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:31 PM CST reply actions
Great INT!!
BUT I STILL HATE OUR STATEGY OF going 3 and out if we’re deep in our territory. You give the offense too much control. Are we gonna pick and run it back every time?
Great play though.
Maybe we WILL see Romo….
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:33 PM CST reply actions
this division is going to be very close…..I say all teams end up bewteen 8-8 and 10-6 at the end…..it will be very close….that Washington game may hurt us
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:33 PM CST reply actions
jones finally does something right as a gm by getting henry
by rashdogg on Oct 30, 2005 2:34 PM CST reply actions
mantab, how will it hurt us? just curious thats all
by ryan on Oct 30, 2005 2:34 PM CST reply actions
tiebreaker against them….one less win in our record….etc…..if the 4 teams end 9-7 or 10-6 or something like that….we will be missing that sure win that we had….
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:35 PM CST reply actions
A loss, especially at home and to a DIVISION TEAM could come back and bit us in the azz.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:36 PM CST reply actions
BRADY JAMES!!!
Gotta give it up to THAT guy. He’s been playing really solid football lately!!!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:37 PM CST reply actions
200 yards for Tiki Barber…still in the 3rd against the washignton D……wow
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:38 PM CST reply actions
Aaron Glenn plays like he’s 6 ’ 4!! Guy making some plays!!
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:39 PM CST reply actions
Is it just me or are our corners playing at a probowl level :)
by S.D Kieley on Oct 30, 2005 2:39 PM CST reply actions
I dont like Aaron Glenn too much….those two long passes against Washington were on him and R. Williams….the guy scares me…
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:41 PM CST reply actions
Shoulda taped the game so I could watch it again NEXT Sunday. Damn.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:41 PM CST reply actions
Glenn did make a big play at the end of the SD game.
by Dave on Oct 30, 2005 2:41 PM CST reply actions
Glenn admitted he mis-timed that ball against washington. He knew he blew it.
But he’s been damn consistent against the long ball. I think he’s solid, especially for a short player back there. He plays large and is a leader in the locker room, from what I here.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:43 PM CST reply actions
this game is over….we should put Romo, A-Train, Copper and Price next drive..keep our starters healthy…Bledose has absolutely nothing to do in this game
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:45 PM CST reply actions
After the bye, Dallas has 3 games in 11 days.
At philly, and at home against detroit and denver (Thanksgiving).
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:48 PM CST reply actions
he better get well in a week…he have TO coming up
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 2:50 PM CST reply actions
Looks like Henry strained a groin muscle. Nobody touched
him. Good thing there’s a bye. Better that it’s not an ankle
or knee injury.
by Rafael Vela on Oct 30, 2005 2:52 PM CST reply actions
he walked off, plus we have the bye,and we have Glenn as insurance
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 2:52 PM CST reply actions
wow, fan just ran onto the field in packers/cinci game!
by Koolaid on Oct 30, 2005 2:53 PM CST reply actions
looks like a groin injury, glad this comes with the bye week.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 2:54 PM CST reply actions
Does anyone remember phily bragging on draft day that they’d stolen RB Moats away from Dallas? That Moats was the guy Dallas really wanted over Barber?
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 2:58 PM CST reply actions
We get to watch the Phill game on the double header. Go Denver!!
Can’t see Broncos loosing 2 weeks in a row.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 3:00 PM CST reply actions
I heard moats used to play the clavicle in the school band…lol
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 3:00 PM CST reply actions
I am afraid for Henry…if is one of those sports hernia whatever…how long is it?
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 3:02 PM CST reply actions
In the WA/NYG game, was Brunell injured or benched?
by bluecheese on Oct 30, 2005 3:02 PM CST reply actions
I don’t know who Moats is, guys. I just remember hearing that…
Glad we got Barber for damn sure. Running back controversy??
Who starts against the eagles on Monday night?? My bet is Jones gets the start.
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 3:04 PM CST reply actions
I dont think we have a RB controversy…Jones get’s the start if he’s healthy…..remember this was a very crappy team we beat today..Julius was playing very well against Philly. It is nice to see Barber is a very good back up to a very fragile guy as Jones
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 3:06 PM CST reply actions
I didn’t see the injury, but there is no way a sports announcer calls a sports hernia from the booth. It is just that it is a “cool” injury to announce since McNabb has one.
by bluecheese on Oct 30, 2005 3:06 PM CST reply actions
ManTab,
There’s no sure diagnosis. The meathead color guy looked at Henry,
who reached for his waist region and dropped to the ground and said,
“that’s a sports hernia.”
Doctors tell you not to try to diagnose something over TV or tape.
I trust a TV commentator even less.
by Rafael Vela on Oct 30, 2005 3:07 PM CST reply actions
looking at the game stats, just noticed a bg 0 n the penalties column… nice!
by bbanzai on Oct 30, 2005 3:12 PM CST reply actions
yea, i dont think the commentator was right, i was just saying what he said
by rashdogg on Oct 30, 2005 3:14 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, Baldinger was the announcer who said “sports hernia”— I’m thinking he would not recognize a sports hernia if it hit him in the face.
Henry’s a big concern for me— a serious groin pull could be 5-6 weeks, no? Hopefully it was more like a hip pointer or a mild strain/cramp in the groin or quad area.
Great game by MB3, you’ve gotta love him as a depth option, but Julius is your #1 and if he’s healthy I have to think they start him coming out of the bye. This isn’t a Lou Gehrig/Wally Pip scenario yet— let’s all remember that Barber was playing the Cardinals, not the 85 Bears.
by Tim on Oct 30, 2005 3:17 PM CST reply actions
Good win,but have you notice when we play teams like arizona the refs stay out of the game. but when we play the playoff type teams like seattle and philly, they always make key call against us. just look at the play in seattle last week where they pick up the flag for pass interfrence in the endzone. that was a disgrace. lets see what kind of calls we get when we go to wash, ny and philly.
by d_pertha on Oct 30, 2005 3:20 PM CST reply actions
I just wish that Bill would get some of the second string players like Romo or Thompson in some games when we have a big lead to get them some playing time in live action. Romo really should get some chances to play in these kind of Games. The time is going to come when Bledsoe takes a big hit and Romo is going to have to come into a game with NO experience. Why is bledsoe and Barber still in a game when the outcome is assured.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 3:26 PM CST reply actions
Only thing that’s going to suck the next couple weeks, is hearing all the pundits talking about how good Eli looks in his uniform. They’ll gloss over the fact that we stomped him into the ground once already.
by Cash on Oct 30, 2005 3:35 PM CST reply actions
I dont think too many people are upset that singleton went down, with fujita ready to take over his spot and even Burnnett might start seeing some more time in the defense.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 3:39 PM CST reply actions
I agree Derrick,BP loses focus at the end of games and forgets to substitute,Henry shouldn’t even have been in there.Romo and our rookies should’ve run out the last 2-3 minutes.
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 3:40 PM CST reply actions
Come on Broncos!Slap a “L” on the Eagles for us!
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 3:41 PM CST reply actions
Last year, we were down by twenty and Bill wouldn’t put the young guys in, to get some reps and now when were up by twenty, Bill still wont put the second stringers in, to get some experience, When Bill is the time to get these players some experience, when??
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 3:44 PM CST reply actions
Barber 142 yards and 2 TDS……impressive and he caught a few too!
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 3:47 PM CST reply actions

Broncos looking great agains the eagles. but remember we gotta play them on Thanksgiving….
by rich on Oct 30, 2005 3:57 PM CST reply actions
Philly down 14-0 with 4:30 left in the 1st quarter and the only tackle that any Denver player has made is on special teams. McNabb oh for everything. They are one dimensional, and I think we showed the world how to beat them.
by bluecheese on Oct 30, 2005 3:57 PM CST reply actions
I would play philly the same way the Broncos dave, Blitz, blitz, blitz, philly wont even try to run the ball, they are one dimemsional and in this League, you’re in trouble
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 4:03 PM CST reply actions
And mark my words, the TO factor will raise it’s ugly head soon! They keep having problems and lose some games and he’s gonna start going off again!

by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 4:14 PM CST reply actions
and with Corte3z, you know if he misses a short field goal, he’ll be pointing at the holder…

I think Phillys reign is over in the NFL east division, they just dont scare anybody anymore.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 4:24 PM CST reply actions
Yep,looks like at this point it’s gonna be a showdown between the Cowboys and the Giants for the NFC title….
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 4:31 PM CST reply actions
Then whoever emerges from the NFC South Div.,either Tampa,Carolina,or Atlanta….
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 4:34 PM CST reply actions
I still like carolina in that division, until Vick shows he can be a real quarterback, you cant continue to look to run first instead of throwing when you’re in the pocket. I think Tampa will fade in the second half of the season, their defense which s really good is keeping them in games, with Griese out for the season, I think they are going to fade with Simms at the helm.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 4:39 PM CST reply actions
come on Denver hang in there………..too bad the Giants and Redskins could not have had a tie………LOL…….
Oh well if Philly loses………and the Redskins lost……….we won………..all is closer to right in the NFC East……..
by Jon on Oct 30, 2005 5:31 PM CST reply actions
Derrick and Sharkz,
Were you being sarcastic when you asked when Parcells would play the youngsters?
Because, if I’m correct, and I am, he’s playing Ware, Spears, Canty, Barber, Thompson, Burnett and Petitti — all fresh faced rookies; Tucker, Al Johnson, Newman, Davis, Witten, Julius Jones all 2nd year guys, and Bradie James is a 3rd year guy.
Those guys are on the field on nearly every snap, so, what’s your point?
by Joey2zs on Oct 30, 2005 5:37 PM CST reply actions
I think they meant Romo, Copper, Thompson, etc when the game was out of reach for Arz. I would’ve given Romo / Henson some snaps. With Tucker and Pettiti playing, Bledose can take a bad hit any day and who knows…
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 5:42 PM CST reply actions
with Tampa Bay loosing today, I think the cowboys are tied for most wins in the NFC total….man, we gotta beat Philly that monday night
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 5:44 PM CST reply actions
Joey2zs,
NO, I wasn’t being sarcastic, as ManTab said,we were talking about the players that are backups, not the one that are part of the defensive rotation, like a spears, Ratliff, a canty, who are getting more and more playing time as the season goeas on. I’m talking about backup players like a Romo, Copper and Thompson when the game is in hand, not when in the forth quarter, we are within seven points. Its just last year, Bill gave alot of excuses for not getting the young backups no playing time, but what is the excuse this year, when we have a game in hand, thats all. I’m happy that bill has gotten some of the rookies like a Ratliif, spears, Canty some very important playing time, but some of the backups, that need the reps aren’t getting them, thats all, particuliarly Romo
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 5:58 PM CST reply actions
Man, did Denver need that drive. They were on their heels there for awhile.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 6:14 PM CST reply actions
It’s the Cortez “jinx”…now the Eagles have it! lol
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 6:26 PM CST reply actions
thats the kind of play we can use for Thompson, as Troy Aikman stated, he is used as a ten play back a game, for a change up back, with speed
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 6:26 PM CST reply actions
Cortez Jinx, if thats the case, then the eagles can have him, but I dont think it will be for long, once Ackers is back healthy, Cortez will be looking for work elsewh
ere.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 6:29 PM CST reply actions
The question may have been raised already, but … will Barber be the Cowboys starting RB even after Julius returns? He’s tough, blocks better, is a better receiver, but has had the tendancy to fumble. .. Barber definately gave this team the spark!! Like #22 use to.
by EricR on Oct 30, 2005 7:25 PM CST reply actions
Eric,
its one game, let tap the breaks alittle, and remember, we were playing the Cardinals, not the Patriots. I watched alot of Barber in Minnesota and thought he was a great draft pick in the forth round to spell JJ, but Make no mistake, JJ is the starter and a better blocker than barber, Barber is going to a a great backup and part of the two headed monster of the Dallas running game along with Tyson Thompson, but JJ is the starter, when healthy, Barber is not Emmitt Smith, let get real..
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 7:34 PM CST reply actions
phillies first quarter was THE worst football I’ve ever seen…DM was 0 fer 10 and he was pummeled almost every other play…what a mess!
by steve van woert on Oct 30, 2005 8:22 PM CST reply actions
derrick
MB3 was perfect today…did you see the game?…today he was everything Emmitt ever was…and he’s at least as ‘exciting’ as JJ maybe more so…he even looked like Sanders at the LOS a coupla times…very quick feet and he always seemed to drag a tackler for a yard or two…plus he flat out pasted! a coupla DLs for Drew…nobody could ask the kid for more…great backup?…he was all Pro today no question
by steve van woert on Oct 30, 2005 8:31 PM CST reply actions
mantab Henson’s not even activated….he’s a scout team guy,waterboy,helper…..
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 8:33 PM CST reply actions
Whoa, let’s not get overboard with any Emmitt compairison’s alright?
Anyway, I know last week I was sceptical about Barber, but I will say I am eating crow as we speek, so no need to rub it in. I think he had a great game. I am only concerned about his size. That really bothers me.
And guess what guys??? We offically have a tail back controversy !!! Honestly that’s good news compaired with the “Troy Hambrick” era.
by emrdog on Oct 30, 2005 8:38 PM CST reply actions
emrdog Barber is 6ft 215! He’s bigger than most most backs……
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 8:51 PM CST reply actions
I like Barber alot. I think he is a better reciever and is more ready to be a 3 down back than Jones is. That being said I would use them both, I think JJ has a bit more power, but Barber didin’t look to shabby going for the extra yards.
by Cash on Oct 30, 2005 8:53 PM CST reply actions
edog
I’m not going overboard…I’m talking one game and today he slam dunked the birds…I know nothing of last weeks posts…size?…see tiki barbers stats today…if JJ doesn’t come back big time he’ll be ridin the pines…you dance with who brung ya
by steve van woert on Oct 30, 2005 8:56 PM CST reply actions
guys..it was the CARDINALS we were playing, a very bad team, please…..dont get overexited about Barber. I don’t think there’s a chance for a RB controversy yet.
Don’t forget JJ had 75 yards or so before he left in the first half against Philly
Anybody knows anything about Henry’s injury? We need that guy for the monday nighter….badly
by ManTab on Oct 30, 2005 8:58 PM CST reply actions
This Barber/Emmitt talk is insane, we were playing the Cardinals. Let’s calm down here. Juice is the starter after the bye if he’s healthy, I don’t think there’s any question, and he’ll continue to be barring fumbling problems or massive ineffectiveness. I’m sure MB3 and Thompson will get their carries, though— at the beginning of the season Parcells had outlined a policy of 35 runs a game— 20-25 to Juice, and 10-15 for the other backs. That may shift a bit away from Julius, but I think those will still be the rough guidelines.
I think it’s a little early to be asking for back-ups to be put in at the end of games, considering how our season has gone so far. I for one was extremely glad to see the Cowboys play a 60 minute game and really finish out against a team for the first time this year. If we had been coasting in wins so far this season, then sure, put Romo or Thompson in today, but given last week’s finish and the Monday Night debacle which we do not speak of, pulling anyone with anything less than a minue remaining seems premature.
by Tim on Oct 30, 2005 9:02 PM CST reply actions
Mantab,
looks like henrys injury is a groin strain, he stated after the game that he was fine and actually walking without a limp, couldn’t ask for a better week off that for sure, he got 2 weeks and a day to get ready for Philly on Monday night.

Guys – I think BP and staff are reading our posts!
First play – ran outside. More passes on first downs. More screeens to the backs and TE.
Overall a great all-around football game. The defense played well the whole game. This looked like the team that played against Philly.
I know it was just the Cardinals but this is the NFL. Just ask Tampa Bay about having to play well against any opponent!
Go Cowboys!!!!!!

“mantab Hensonâ€â"¢s not even activated….heâ€â"¢s a scout team guy,waterboy,helper…..”
sharkz:
Henson wasn’t activated, but he’s not a joke. Before the preseason game with Jacksonville, Jerry Jones said in an interview that all the plays(including practice) of all 3 quarterbacks were charted, and Henson graded highest of the 3.

I’d be very leary of what Jerry jones says, he always trys to put a positive spin on things, right now Henson is the scout Qb for the other teams offense in practice. I hope that next year the Cowboys send Henson to NFL europe to get some live game action which he desperately needs.
by Derrick on Oct 30, 2005 9:29 PM CST reply actions
If anyone doesn’t see that Barber is a more complete back than Julius Jones then you aren’t watching the Cowboys. Jones has very short stubby arms and has a hard time catching the ball out in front of his body, something that Barber does well. Also, I have not seen JJ run for the tough yards the way Barber did today. We’ll need them both, but at least I’m not worried when either one of them gets hurt.

Lee……..Henson is a Jerry jones project. The only reason he’s still on the roster is his cap hit……Jones has a hard time admitting he was wrong with another baseball player project again.I’m gonna side with BP,Troy Aikman,Babe Laufenburg,John Madden and numerous others on this one.Even this morning on Cowboys Huddle with BP(TV) BP beamed about Romo and said he would have no problem playing him or having him as the starter and that he has alot of potential to one day be the Cowboys QB of the future, but when asked about Henson,he said that he’s doing okay and just needs to learn more and work on his understanding of the game.I have nothing against Henson I just think he needs alot of work.

Lee,
It’s pretty bad when you get riled up when someone talks shit about a third stringer. It’s not like he was calling your sister a whore or anything.

Sharkz,
Acutally his cap it would be mild if they really wanted to cut him. He’s a project nothing more at this point.

Derrick:
I hope they keep Henson at home, where he can’t get concussed or broken.
Without naming other high draft choice QBs in scouting roles, Henson, to me, is just as unknown, or just good, as those guys, often mentioned as trade possibilities.

Did Gates throw the ball into the stands alot too?
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 9:45 PM CST reply actions
OK, I don’t know if Gates throws balls into the stands, but I’m guessing Madden would have had trouble tackling him today.

Anyway guys,we are looking good at 5-3!Philly plays at Washington this week so one of them is gonna get another “L”!!!!Let’s get healhty and come back roaring for the second half!!!!

Philadelphia should be an easy win. Denver at home could be tougher, but the Cowboys will round up the Broncos, too.
by Lee on Oct 30, 2005 9:52 PM CST reply actions
True Lee,I also agree with an earlier post by Derrick that the Eagles time may have come and gone! The Cowboys and Giants are taking over the NFC East(but the Cowboys are a younger and more complete team) I personally think the Redskins are “Paper” tigers and will fade with tougher competition. Our new talent is starting to develop(and gel) and by season’s end we will be the most feared team in the playoffs!

That extra home game in New York irritated me when it happened, and I also think the Giants are the main divisional threat.
Carolina looks good at times, but Delhomme often looks like an accident about to happen.
Right now, I’m not even laughing at the Bears.
by Lee on Oct 30, 2005 10:13 PM CST reply actions
This scenario couldn’t be turning out better for the Cowboys so far. After all,it’s all about division wins and conference wins at this point and we are looking good in that respect!

Stats guys……….Don’t we have something riding on Buffalos record or was that last year?
by sharkz on Oct 30, 2005 10:31 PM CST reply actions
Lee,
I agree with you and so did Saint’s coach Jim Haslett. Making the Saints play a “home game” at Giants stadium was a joke. Giving an unquestionable advantage to a NY team was the worst decision the NFL has made in years.

BTW, with Singleton being out for a while (broken collarbone) I’m hoping that Kevin Burnett can play some at outside linebacker behind Fujita. I know he hasn’t been playing there since the preseason but I’m confident he can contribute much more than Ogbogu. Besides, he has 2 weeks to get acclimated again with the position.

why is Barber/Emmitt talk"insane"?…it’s a simple comparison…nothing insane about it…why the drama?…relax…you make it sound like the Cards are a wash…you’ve stated your opinion about Jones after we stated ours about Barber…whats the difference?…dont be so quick to judge

Here’s my take on why Parcells doesn’t throw the scrubs into the game until very late, if at all.
I noticed that the one game that Romo came in, it was only after the Eagles brought in their backup quarterback. I suspect that Parcells does not want to ‘rub it in’ to the opposing team by presuming the game is in hand, until that team throws up its own ‘white flag’. The Cardinals kept McCown in until the end. Parcells kept Bledsoe in until the end. He did give Barber a couple of plays off, at least.
The only other reason I can think of, is that he doesn’t want to give the other team ANY chance to come back, no matter how remote that possibility might seem.

According to DC.com, Ratliff did suffer a sprained ankle. How serious is not yet known.

shawne merriman-2 sacks for the chargers so far this year
Jones is a more complete back than Barber at this point-Barber’s tendency to fumble puts in the backup spot for sure-but by this point next year, who knows? I’d want both anyways, cause I don’t see either one built like a full-time pounding RB who can play 16 games. And don’t quote weight/height-that’s meaningless-you can just tell looking hey don’t have a durable build and those thick legs. As an Alabama fan (good year for me so far!) I can attest to Barber’s talents though-he killed us in the bowl game last year at Minn., and I was excited when I saw his name on draft day.

by the way I’m only comparing barber to jones-but to Emmit? Give me a break-that IS crazy-how about he plays well for more than two games, and stops fumbling, first

also,
MBIII is the #2 rb on this team, NOT TT. I’ve said it before, TT needs time. He is Two seasons from High school….

Whoa! The only thing that is silly is how people twist other’s words around. He gave the team a spark, like Emmitt use to.
For the first time all year, the passing game wasn’t the major means of scoring, and the running game took over the game. The offensive line “leaned” on ’em in the 4th quarter. … Like it or not, this is how Parcells likes to play. Barber gave the team this, and I would think it would be hard to get him out of there because of it.
Long TD runs and “leaning” on a defense in the 4th quarter is the quickest way to build the confidence of a offensive line. They were happy with the results. Bledsoe, mentioned Barber’s blocking, a few times. The WRs made big plays that were intended to take advantage of a defense over playing the run. Jason Witten found pockets in the pass coverage, due to the deep threat and running game. … In all this was the closest resemblence of the 90’s Cowboys, that we have seen around here in a long time. (Don’t twist my words. I am not saying they are the second coming of that Dallas Dynasty.) They merely played a complete game, were the risks were minimal, and the execution was good. I think this offensive play calling was the most conservative in recent weeks, yet it was effective. When running the ball works, go to it, keep the defense honest, but go to what is working for you. Like I said, the quickest way to build confidence in a young offensive line is with long TD runs and allowing them to impose their will on a defense in the second half. .. Barber was a big part of this offense coming together, and even if some coaches believe JJ is a better back (which I doubt at this point being injured 25-40% of the time), its going to be very difficult to persuade the team of sitting the rookie.
