Philly Blinks, Drops Tampering Complaint
Or perhaps they took a minute to consider how foolish they looked. Whatever the case, the Eagles front office dropped the tampering charge against Jerry Jones. The Philly brass claimed Jones' comments might have affected Terrell Owens hearing last week, though it's not clear how they might have done so. More likely, somebody in the league office informed them the complaint was a loser and urged them to spare the suits in New York the trouble.
The weekend is already off to a good start.

I just think it was something they did to try to prevent Dallas from getting him in case they lost arbitration. Had Owens been set free they may have argued that anyone but Dallas could sign him because they tampered. I assume they will try to trade him rather than release him to keep him away from the Cowboys.

nobody is going to trade for Owens and assume his contract, a contract by the way that Owens and his agent feels in substandard. Owens will never get a long term contract with a big signing bonus anymore, it will be a 1 or 2 year deal with a base salery and alot a incentives and many conduct clauses. Their is no way the arbitrator could force the eagles to play Owens or release him, he could only reduce his suspension, thats all.
If I’m not mistaken the eagles filed the complaint with the league after the arbitrators ruling, so the tampering charges were mute, so it wouldn’t surprise me if the league office told the eagles to drop the nonsense.

My only regret is that the Eagles were allowed to recall their charge, rather than be publicly humiliated by the league.

The roster moves continue, Peerless Price has been released by the Cowboys this morning.

He may have been a disappointment, but he represents veteran depth going into december. they must be looking to open a roster spot for someone. jamar martin?

either opening a spot for another linemen on the active roster or a fullback, clearly fullback position is an area of concern

I doubt that the Cowboys will use the roster spot vacated by Price to sign Martin. That would give us two fullbacks who do little else. No, I suspect they will either promote someone off our practice squad (perhaps Tarullo or Rector), or raid another team’s practice squad. There was also a safety who worked out at the same time as Martin. The safety (I forget his name) would be another possibility.
If they want to sign Martin, they will first cut Polite.

Mr Bill,
The other guy brought in for a workout with Martin was a safety, Earl Little if I’m not mistaken.

Does this make it harder to send TO to the Redskins?
by cowboy bert on Dec 3, 2005 8:46 PM CST reply actions
I knew this would happen. Like I said in an earlier thread, the Eagles had no case.
I’ll take Martin over Polite.
