The next step

It seems all the mediots seem to think Ownes is headed to Dallas. Well here is a clip from fox sports that states what I consider to be a much better alternative:

Moss could be released
St. Paul Pioneer Press
Pioneer Press columnist Charley Walters says he won't be surprised if the Raiders opt to cut WR Randy Moss loose after a low production, injury-plagued campaign in Oakland.

Now if this were to happen and Dallas could snatch Moss up would we be able to take the next step?

Moss in Dallas?
Oh the irony of that situation. Remember how we passed on Moss in the draft because of behavior issues, this was in the midst of the "White House" scandal and all the drug problems on the Cowboys (Mike Irvin), so we took Greg Ellis instead.

It's hard to believe that Oakland would ditch Moss after one bad year, but anything possible with that organization.

And I have to admit, as much as I don't like Owens, I think I would feel differently about Moss. He seems like he could us a good "daddy" figure like Parcells.

Moss in Dallas
Yeah, I could definitely get behind that.

Just for argument's sake, would you see him replacing Key or Glenn?  My first response is Key, but you still need a possession receiver.

Good question
Key does have a contract issue coming up at the end of the year, but I believe Parcells will do everything he can to keep him here.

But for arguments sake, imagine Glenn and Moss on the outside, the opposing safeties would have no idea how to contain that kind of speed. Then you have Crayton stepping up as the possession guy with help from Witten.

Terry has a point below about Moss being selfish, but I don't see him as being in the Owens category. I don't think any coach can control Owens, but Parcells might be able to get through to Moss. Then again, it might be the one move that would blow the team apart.

But it's fun to speculate.

doubt it
I seriously doubt it would happen, but what if the Raiders went after Owens and let Moss go. Now do not get me wrong I am not a Randy Moss fan and I know he has many faults but one thing that can't be denied is he is very talented at what he does. As for him being selfish and all that I have not heard much out of him this year other than yeah I smoke pot once in a blue moon. And this is probably one of his worst years, and I do not think it is all of his doing. Seems to me he is at least trying to be the team player.

I'll pass on Moss too
You know everybody seems to want these big time  wide outs, but I personally like our receivers. Sure they're not quite as talented as Moss or Owens, but they always seem to come up big when we need them. I think if Parcells would open up the offense more and we had a better line to protect Bledsoe, Keyshawn and Glenn could be extremely productive, not to mention that Crayton was coming on before the injury. Also keep in mind that prima dona's like Moss and Owens will want the ball all the time and won't be happy in a ball control offense. Key and Glenn are unselfish and accept thats the way Parcells is. They have a history with him and love playing for him. How do we know if Moss or Owens will feel the same way about Parcells? I would pass on both, especially Owens.

I agree
I agree with you Terry, I do not think we need either of them, but of the two I choose Moss. If we did happen to get one of them I do not think it would matter because our problem is not receiver it is the offensive(pun intended)line.

pass on Owens and Moss
I agree with Terry.  Owens and Moss do not have the blocking skills that Key has either.  The man is probably the best blocking WR in the league.  TG can be just as effective as Owens and Moss AND he does not have thier same selfish instincts.  We still have a year or two with Key and Terry.  Can anyone tell me what they could do better when they were younger?  Key has never been fast, and terry has never been powerfull.  In many ways, I think they are at their peak and will be for another year or two.

Keep developing crayton and bring in one young stud from the draft to pass the torch to when Key and Terry's time is over, and we will be set in the receiver corps for years to come.

Cowboy fan since I was conceived!
