You’re right Rafael, I can picture that face right now, and it makes me want to go hit the heavy bag.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 12:25 PM CST reply actions
To make that picture complete, Demarcus Ware needs to play like Lawrence Taylor, the real “LT” and sack Brunell two or three times!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 12:52 PM CST reply actions
Speaking of Ware, he has not being playing too well lately, but to be fair, he’s a rookie playing a new position.
This is why I don’t think the comparisons to LT, and more importantly the comparisons to Shawne Merriman are so unfair.
He’s making a huge transition from being a college DE, to a Pro OLB. He should be commended for being able to hold his own so far, instead of being unfairly compared to Merriman, who’s having a bigger impact, but is playing his natural position.
I would wait until next year before making these comparisons. I still think Ware was a better pick for the Cowboys.
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 1:00 PM CST reply actions
I meant I don’t think the comparisons are so “Fair.”
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 1:01 PM CST reply actions
onepanioko, I agree that Ware was the better pick. Playing a new position jumping from college to pro doesn’t happen overnight. I think we will start to see the real benefits next year. He will have the experience of a year under his belt, plus more conditioning.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 1:07 PM CST reply actions
Bushpilot, You’re right that another year of experience for Ware will show us how good he really is. I would also lean more toward conditioning, because he wasn’t expected to cover so much ground in college. Linebackers are expected to cover more ground than defensive ends, so it’s not surprising that he’s running out of gas.
I’d have to admit, that Merriman has been playing like an All-Pro. The only reason why I didn’t like him so much was because of his attitude and his choice of agents, which is why I’d still rather have Ware.
I think that in the long run, both players will have an impact for years to come. I’m watching the Colts and Bolts game and am really impressed with Merriman’s play. It looks like San Diego wants this game more than Indy.
I think both of these

Ignore the last line of my post. Bad editing!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 1:29 PM CST reply actions
Early games;
1. Carolina looks pedestrian. The Saints are moving the ball on them;
1a. the NFL continues to treat the Saints like trash. There are only 15 to 20K fans at that game. Why they don’t put the Saints in San Antonio until New Orleans is rebuilt baffles me;
3. The Chargers have executed their game plan to perfection for 30 minutes. They’ve had more intensity than the Colts. Shawne Merriman has 2.5 sacks so far;
3a. BTW, the Austin station has abandoned the Texans, treating us to the Colts the past two weeks.
by Rafael Vela on Dec 18, 2005 1:34 PM CST reply actions
Raf, it figures the Texans get abandoned and they are winning today.
We also need for Pittsburgh to down the Vikings, close game so far.
The Saints are moving the ball, but you can’t keep turning it over like that.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 1:38 PM CST reply actions
Washington 44 degrees with a 5 mph wind out of the east. Gametime about 40 degrees, partly cloudy, 5-6 mph wind.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 1:42 PM CST reply actions
Who are you rooting for tonight? Bears or Atlanta?
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 1:46 PM CST reply actions
What a break, Johnson intercepted in the endzone by Pitt.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 1:46 PM CST reply actions
I’d say the Bears, we need Atalanta off our backs. Someone has to win their division-Bears/Vikings. Looks like we will have to settle for a wildcard at this poimt unless the Giants fold. Hope for a Vikings loss to Pittsburgh.

First Game Scoring
1 2 3 4 T
Dallas 0 3 7 3 13
Washington 0 0 0 14 14
Any guesses on scoring by quarter?
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 1:51 PM CST reply actions
I’m rooting for the Bears also. Need to get rid of Brad Johnson and the Vikes.
Loving what the Chargers are doing right now. Peyton and his brother are big babies.
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 1:58 PM CST reply actions
Pittsburg still beating Vikings blocked Viking field goal
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 2:01 PM CST reply actions
Budfox, yeah I here what you’re saying. I like Peyton a little more than Eli, but they both seem to have been coddled a little too much.
Eli has been getting way too much credit this year, he has been average at best. With Tiki’s running, and the defense playing well, it takes a lot of pressure off him.
If our offensive line played as well as the Giants oline, Bledsoe & Co would be putting up close to 30 a game.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 2:04 PM CST reply actions
San Diego’s Merriman is really a stud
He is sacking / disrupting Manning
So tell me again Santa why we got Ware under our tree?
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 2:07 PM CST reply actions
Steelers just got another field goal – 16-3 over vikings – 36 sec. left in 3rd Quarter

I spoke too soon. Marty & company are imploding. I hate the Colts!
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 2:21 PM CST reply actions
Go Steelers! Never thought i’d hear myself say that.
New Orleans is rolling over again.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 2:23 PM CST reply actions
The Steelers are going to grind out the clock and win this one for Big D. I grew up hating the Steelers and that goof ball Terry Bradshaw. Remember when he wore the toupee and everyone knew it because he’d take his helmet off on the sidelines?
by psychocowboysfan on Dec 18, 2005 2:37 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, I was roorting for KC yesterday too. How about rooting for the Eagles last week? LOL

by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 2:42 PM CST reply actions
Imagine rooting for a player on the Philadelphia Eagles…Like we do. One of their players lives in our town. It’s kinda cool, but I hate the fact that he plays for Philadelphia.
by psychocowboysfan on Dec 18, 2005 2:43 PM CST reply actions
Psycho,
That’s terrible, because he plays for a hated team, but on the other hand, he’s your hometown boy, so you still root for him to play well.
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:07 PM CST reply actions
Indy is NOT going to be undefeated, compliments of the Bolts. Well, that’s IF they can hold on……
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:10 PM CST reply actions
That touchdown sealed it. Dolphins are popping champagne once again.

by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 3:22 PM CST reply actions
No pressure on Brunell. Sigh. Let’s hope the offense can come through for us today. Go Boys!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:23 PM CST reply actions

can we dig ourselves out of this hole?

We need to blitz
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:29 PM CST reply actions

by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:30 PM CST reply actions
pressure is doubly on now
would love to run the ball to settle things down
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 3:31 PM CST reply actions
onepaniolo,
sorry,My bad.
Let light it up and get those seven points back.
by Derrick on Dec 18, 2005 3:31 PM CST reply actions
I hate Aikman. He never has anything good to say about the Cowboys
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:33 PM CST reply actions
Right on, Derrick. We’re on the same page. That incident on the star will never be forgotten!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:33 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, Bluecheese. I doon’t hate Aikman, but he tries too hard not to be perceived as a homer, unlike Theismann, who’s a total Skins homer!!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:36 PM CST reply actions
Guys, troy is calling the way it was, it shouldn’t of been a penealty, Witten wasn’t out of bounds, we got a good call on that one
by Derrick on Dec 18, 2005 3:36 PM CST reply actions
You know who is a Dallas homer? Phil Simms. Actually, I think that he is a Bill Parcells homer.
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:37 PM CST reply actions
Yeah, Troy’s a Pro! I still like him.
Go Crayton!!!!!!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:38 PM CST reply actions
Derrick,
The whistle blew. It was an obvious penalty. If Aikman had actually listened to the official’s explanation, there was no controversey
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:38 PM CST reply actions
it’s loud as hell there…biggest crowd in the league…there will be penalties…hopefully not as bad as nyg in seatle though

If they’re not false starts, they’re swiss cheese
by Cuervo68 on Dec 18, 2005 3:40 PM CST reply actions
like Aikman said, he wasn’t out of bounds and his forward progress wasn’t stopped, the whistles went after the hit.
by Derrick on Dec 18, 2005 3:41 PM CST reply actions
concerned about witten
he hasnt been in since the penalty shot looks like that paid off for the Skins
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 3:41 PM CST reply actions
I saw the official spank also. Funny. We need to weather the storm.
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 3:43 PM CST reply actions
If Bledsoe had seen Polite, we may have had a touchdown right there.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 3:43 PM CST reply actions
Derrick,
Whistle blew. Watch it. Plus, he led with his helmet, and hit him helmet to helmet.
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:43 PM CST reply actions
hey fellas
they are giving the game away already..they just haven’t looked sharp in a LONG time onboth the Offense and Defense..come on Dallas!
by MikeA on Dec 18, 2005 3:45 PM CST reply actions
Can we do anything right? Cundiff better enjoy his time with a star on his helmet, because he won’t be here next year. Might not make it to next week.
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:45 PM CST reply actions
What the F? Do they not remember the ass kicking in Dallas at the end?
by Cuervo68 on Dec 18, 2005 3:45 PM CST reply actions
keyshawn was pissed. looked like he was saying “he can’t kick the f-ing ball”
by skullmunky on Dec 18, 2005 3:46 PM CST reply actions
the cardiac Cowboys at it again..
can they ever play a sharp, focused game for 60 minutes? i don’t get it.. I thought they would get BETTER as the season wore on…
by MikeA on Dec 18, 2005 3:46 PM CST reply actions
F—kin Kicker! Unexcusable! Have to get a better kicker!
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 3:46 PM CST reply actions
No way Washington is this tough. We just suck right now.
by Cuervo68 on Dec 18, 2005 3:46 PM CST reply actions
and that really kicks them in the nuts also from a mental standpoint
and it now psyches Cundiff for later if it ever gets that close
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 3:47 PM CST reply actions
We don’t make the playoffs playing like this!
by onepaniolo on Dec 18, 2005 3:47 PM CST reply actions
Kickers seems to have sucked across the NFL this year, but we’ve lost too many games due to kicking. Need to spend the money.
by Cuervo68 on Dec 18, 2005 3:47 PM CST reply actions
Don’t blame the freakin’ long snapper!!! The hold was perfect. All the kicker’s fault.
by Bluecheese on Dec 18, 2005 3:49 PM CST reply actions
nice stop D. – settle down and play ball
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 18, 2005 3:49 PM CST reply actions
We don’t deserve the playoffs if this keeps up.
by bushpilot on Dec 18, 2005 3:49 PM CST reply actions
We miss Jeff Robinson. Bad long snaps is costing us this year.

by Derrick on Dec 18, 2005 3:50 PM CST reply actions
Davis helped McNabb officially end his season too.
by Cuervo68 on Dec 18, 2005 3:50 PM CST reply actions
Fast first quarter. Let’s get some runnning going!
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 3:50 PM CST reply actions
Funny,
They don’t play Greg Ellis at all the first two series, move Glover to RE in the 3-4. No pass rush. Ellis gets in on third down and voila, a push from the outside.
Plus, Pepper Johnson’s getting reps at NT.
by Rafael Vela on Dec 18, 2005 3:51 PM CST reply actions
that was cundiff, the snap was down in plenty of time.
by Derrick on Dec 18, 2005 3:51 PM CST reply actions
Playoffs? I’d like to see them get to halftime without being down 21.
by Mo Rice on Dec 18, 2005 3:51 PM CST reply actions
even if the Cowboys squeak into the playoffs they will get beat the first game or may be get lucky like last week to move into the 2nd game.
They just are not good enough and playing well enough to match up against the likes of how well the other NFC teams are playing in Dec..
the Giants are playing a lot better..
by MikeA on Dec 18, 2005 3:52 PM CST reply actions
I thought ware was supposed to have the blow by pass rush like we saw merriam do at san diego today

we are alright guys…chill out and have some faith for crying out loud
by ba on Dec 18, 2005 3:52 PM CST reply actions

were they trying to run a spread run like Denver?
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 3:56 PM CST reply actions
It’s not like that for me.. I will watch and cheer no matter what..
I’m a realist and if you know football, you can tell when they are in sync and when they are off. They have enough talent to stay in games but aren’t playing well enough to win all winable games

by MizzouCowboy on Dec 18, 2005 4:05 PM CST reply actions
Shanle pulled up lame at the snap. Cooley was his guy. I doubt he could have gotten out to stop him but he took one step to his right and stopped.
That’s awfully fast to lose it on a play. Why didn’t he call time out if his leg was gone?

add the linebackers to the o-line as a unit that’s lost.

Why throw the ball 5yards when you need to get into the endzone. Peyton is fuc**** ignorant.

This is beyond sorry. Many of you guys are great at breaking down the game as a science, but to me it’s always about heart and who wants it more.
There is no doubt where the heart is now.And to the Fing REDSKINS!!!

mommy, waaaaaaaa, this is exactly what kept us from winning 4 years ago, A FRIKIN STUPID ASS O-LINE

the only upside is that the big game will be Colts losing
so at least this won’t be the lead story Unless this turns in a triple digit loss
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 4:48 PM CST reply actions
Yes, folks, it has finally caught up with us. We were due for a blowout against us. I’m just disappointed it was against the hated skins.
Parcells says “You are what you are.” This is what we are, a mediocre team that has a lot of holes to fill. Let’s hope that the draft is as succeesful next year as it was this year, because the oline needs to be rebuilt like how the dline was rebuilt.
Unfortunately, like Raf said, our linebackers suck as well, and needs to be rebuilt. Perhaps the Ware experiment will end at OLB and he plays DE next year, and let’s trade one of our d linemen for a true OLB.
Sigh. Just the musings of a very disappointed fanatic!

You guys are taking this much too seriously.
It’s just a game, and they’re having fun!
The Cowboys have given the Redskins a 28 point lead, so that they can make an exciting finish in the 2nd half.

:) linus
i know you’re jokin’ but to be honest it’s nice to know there are people out there to share the misery with – everybody in this blog – one common wish – to see the boys do good….keep your chins up everybody
if you catch any s**t from your Redskin buddies (does anyone on this forum even HAVE a “redskin” buddy? i know i don’t)…just print this quote and read it to ’em:
The most Super Bowl wins is five – a record shared by the San Francisco 49ers (1982, 1985, 1989–90, 1995) and the Dallas Cowboys (1972, 1978, 1993–4, 1996).
Nicknamed “America’s Team”, the Dallas Cowboys is the most successful franchise in the history of the National Football League. In the 40 years since their formation, the Cowboys have had 27 winning seasons including 20 consecutive winning seasons. They share the record with the San Francisco 49ers.
furthermore, remind ’em that the Cowboys have FIVE superbowl wins, Washington only has three
i know it’s reaching, but I think we need some good news after watching that first half
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 18, 2005 4:51 PM CST reply actions
uh yeah loozeeana…that is a reach
i dont feel any better
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 4:53 PM CST reply actions
yeah i already knew that stuff loozeana…i think we’ll still make the playoffs though..

Dan Snyder must be doing a disco dance at half time
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 4:55 PM CST reply actions
lol – linus and ba – yeah i know guyz…it’s bad when u have to dig that deep – just tryin’ to make everybody feel a little better about things -
for the record it didn’t help ME much either…but one thing u can say about games like this…the bitter defeats sure do make the wins seem sweeter – and who knows – skins put up 28 in the first half – i guess it’s theoretically possible that the boys could put up 28 in the second half
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 18, 2005 4:56 PM CST reply actions
making every right end an all pro with Tucker out there
by linus on Dec 18, 2005 4:58 PM CST reply actions

is king kong any good? imm going to see it later…hopefully it will make up for this loss
by ba on Dec 18, 2005 5:00 PM CST reply actions
mizzou – you’re right – i’m not sure if by today you mean this current season or if you literally mean today against skins – if it’s the latter, then the reason i jumped back in history is i’ve seen absolutely nothing to be up beat about today

They suck actually more than even I thought
think next year..hopefully because KJ and TG will be even one more year older, Rivera costs us WAY too much..we need another draft like this year
awful Defense.. they just suck

by ba on Dec 18, 2005 5:03 PM CST reply actions
well it would seem all 4 wheels fell off in the 1st half…i didn’t think there was anything left…but now it looks like the axles and transmission are falling apart

WHO KNOWS THE STATS? WHAT IS THE WORST LOSS IN COWBOYS HISTORY?
by Budfox27 on Dec 18, 2005 5:09 PM CST reply actions
i remember getting trounced by greenbay last year…what was that score?
by ba on Dec 18, 2005 5:09 PM CST reply actions
well look at it this way – no matter how crappy we play – it can only count as 1 loss…i think if we shoot for anything more for today, it just needs to be getting that goose egg off the scoreboard
by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 18, 2005 5:11 PM CST reply actions
Cowboys coaches are just stuck on stupid, get Tucker outta there!!!!!
by sharkz on Dec 18, 2005 5:12 PM CST reply actions
julius said he was getting 1700 yds this year?! did he think he was playing for the chiefs?
by ba on Dec 18, 2005 5:14 PM CST reply actions
sharkz i think you’re right about tucker, but the prob. is at this point if they pulled every player out that’s helped contribute to this mess, i don’t think we’d have enough players left to put on the field – on defense OR offense for that matter
