I think I was #12. Remember, all those Giants fans are stuck at home due to the strike, lets disgrace them with a spanking.

Raf,
I voted for you guys 6 times. is that wrong?

Does anyone want to talk about the game this weekend. Jake Delhomme in the Pro Bowl. Let’s take him out this weekend. If we see them again, we won’t have to worry about him. Just see him on the sidelines offering moral encouragement. How about Shawn Merriman in the Pro Bowl? My next stop is the San Diego Union Web Site. Jerry Magee has already said he voted against Michael Irvin last year and will do so again this year as Irvin “never got open without pushing off”.

To all:
The following is my email to Jerry Magee of the San Diego Tribune:
Hey, man! Six (count ‘em) Chargers in the Pro Bowl! How ’bout puttin’ Shawn Merriman in the HOF this year? No way Michael Irvin (and assorted Cowboys) are in, huh?
Take your duty seriously, Jerry! No Cowboys in the HOF!!! Don’t you dare vote for Troy Aikmann! Cowboys’ fans are disgusted by his playing up to the 3 of 39 HOF voters on the HOF selection committee from Washington this past weekend in the Washington debacle! There is such a thing as integrity, which you clearly do not have. Take your HOF and Pro Bowl and shove it! Let’s see now, did the Cowboys (with two (gratis) Pro Bowl selections) not beat the Chargers? Oh, the humanity!
by Scooter on Dec 21, 2005 8:41 PM CST reply actions
My top five Cowboys, all time:
1 and 2 (can’t decide) Bob Lilly & Emmitt Smith
3 Roger Staubach (Aikmann isn’t even close)
4 Mel Renfro (why did he almost become a Seniors’ committe nominee?)
5 Rayfield Wright (tell me again why he wasn’t in the HOF 15 years ago?)

Where did all the “fans” go? This just in, Parcells said that he has no doubt this Cowboys team is better than the ‘03 team. Let’s see, didn’t the ‘03 team lose to Carolina in the playoffs? Does anyone think, for a moment, that the ’05 Carolina team is better than the ’03 Carolina team? It’s time to get fired up! Not whimper out for this season and talk about our draft prospects! Come on, I remember a Cowboys team lose 38-0 on a Monday night and come back and go to the Super Bowl.

Hey, Scooter,
You want to write the blog? I’ve got to put stories up EVERY day. How often can you say, we’re playing the Panthers? Monday through Friday? Don’t think so. Then, I’m like one of those mens magazines trying to tell you how to “get rock-hard abs” or “improve your sex life” month after month, year after year.
by Rafael Vela on Dec 21, 2005 9:20 PM CST reply actions
Seeing Roy and Larry make the Pro Bowl seems as exciting as beating a 3 year old at checkers. It just doesn’t seem like we earned it. Oh well. What happened to Bledsoe though? Not that I think he earned it but I thought he was #1 in NFc voting most of the year up until about a week or so ago. Did he ever drop fast.

Raf…I am trying to vote but by the time I voted 4 times the Giants votes increased by 11. I can’t keep up. They must have DSL.

Rafael:
Sorry, I just couldn’t find any threads on this site actually dealing with the present (future?). Was interested in people’s thoughts on the Pro Bowl results. Saw Marty Shottenheimer on NFL Network throwing out bones to a team with six Pro Bowl selections and hearing recently that Parcells suggested that his team is not all that bad and he has not thrown in the towel for THIS season. Hope you win the Best Blog contest, though there are a lot of folks within 25 miles of The Meadowlands, ya know. Surprising that Eli couldn’t beat out Michael Vick, don’t you think?
Yeah, I know, Rev. Michael, need to lay off of the caffene beverages. I’m on the East Coast and it’s always later for me than for you I would imagine. I work at a hospital in the D.C. suburbs and I have never heard folks so excited about an 8-6 team. I guess we just don’t know how to be true fans. Many are actually saying this past game WAS there Super Bowl. BTW, drove by little Danny Snider’s house on the way home today, it’s a nice house and he is a happy man.

Actually, Scooter you aren’t that much farther east. I’m in Alabama.
Tell Danny boy I said hi. Sad that they have accomplished all they want this year. Not surprising though after they way we have dominated over the last decade.

I just voted and will try again tomorrow. We can’t lose to the giants!

Exactly my sentimonies! Get off yer butts and vote.

Losing to the Giants in the voting would be our failure, not the one of the players and coaches, got to show face!

Easy call, here, Rafael. This is not only the best sports blog I’ve ever seen, it’s also the best source of sports analysis I’ve ever dreamt of. Congratulations on the nomination and the beats-all-comers original content.

I just voted and we’re up by 13 votes. 125-112

I voted yesterday, and we have won. Game over.
To ensure victories next time in these political decisions, I suggest a new city for the Cowboys: Beijing.
That would give us a bigger fan base for voting, right? And the Beijing Cowboys would have a big home field advantage, with those long road trips for the opposition.
by Lee on Dec 22, 2005 12:58 PM CST reply actions
Anyone else not being allowed to vote anymore? The Giants keep going up, but everytime I check in, it won’t let me vote. Antway, the Giants are up 7 now, so we need to get the lead back.
by altercall on Dec 22, 2005 2:27 PM CST reply actions
I can’t vote either when you go to the link it gives blank page
so looks rigged to me
by linus on Dec 22, 2005 2:50 PM CST reply actions
It’s even now. Don’t have a clue about the voting methods.
I know that we average, depending on the meter, between 1,000 and 1,700 visitors a day. If everybody voted just once, I think we would be okay.
by Rafael Vela on Dec 22, 2005 3:12 PM CST reply actions
I was able to vote again. You have to log off, then log back on to the computer and go to the website to vote again. I did it earlier to even it up at 155 a piece, looks like we are behind again.
by bushpilot on Dec 22, 2005 5:35 PM CST reply actions
My guess is that the voting script parses our internet protocol numbers from the server environment.
If you have a static IP number(as in ADSL), the script presumably could limit that IP number to 1 vote. If you have a rotating IP number(as in a plain old dial-up connection), you could have a different IP number assigned by your ISP every time you connect, and that would possibly explain how continued voting could be allowed for different IP numbers.
Or maybe it’s much more complicated than that.
by Lee on Dec 22, 2005 6:14 PM CST reply actions
Lee:
The IP isn’t the limit, I’ve a rotating connection and now I’ve got another IP from the one I had when I voted yesterday and still can’t vote again. Probably is something that’s downloaded to the temp files in our hard drives or to memory…
by Chandus on Dec 22, 2005 10:04 PM CST reply actions
Chandus:
If the vote limiter is a simple cookie, I just looked at mine, and saw too many to want to delete all of them right now(mostly because I want to leave at least the ones for RealNetworks, and a couple of others).
I did a simple ipconfig /all from a command prompt, and the following was displayed:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : WAN (PPP/SLIP) Interface
Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-53-45-00-00-00
Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 203.100.213.230
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 203.100.213.230
DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 202.180.64.9
202.180.64.2
NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Disabled
Could physical address be the limit?
by Lee on Dec 23, 2005 1:37 AM CST reply actions
Not cookies or temp fiels, I went through and deleted all of them and no dice. Any other suggestions?
by altercall on Dec 23, 2005 2:33 AM CST reply actions
I booted out of Windows XP and into FreeBSD 5.0, browsed to this site with Mozilla 0.9, and couldn’t re-vote. None of my Windows browsers has any ability or permission to write files to my FreeBSD or Linux partitions, so I agree that cookies or temp files don’t seem to be involved.
I also deleted all cookies and temp files from my Windows partition.

Hello Fella’s. This is Dan Benton from over at Giants 101. Just wanted to say it’s been a nice battle with you thus far on the voting page. As many of you are, I am confused about the voting system. No one is allowed to re vote, and it’s a shame there are 100 people in my building who read my page that are unable to vote, because we all run on the same system.
Nonetheless, this appears to be a well written and popular Cowboys blog. I saw above you are averaging 1,000 to 1,700 visitors a day. Not bad for the blog. MVN itself get about 30 million hits monthly (2+ unique). If you’d like, and it’s okay with you, I can link you up to my Giants 101 page and hopefully toss some more readership your way.(not trolls) You certainly deserve it. Just let me know, and good luck!

Nice web site Dan at MNV. What does this mean…? Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_recent_comments() in /home/httpd/vhosts/mostvaluablenetwork.com/httpdocs/welcome.php on line 223
Top notch, really.
This blog is soooo much better than your company’s web site. While you obviously have more resources, it’s really just noise and you don’t come close to providing the community and value that we have here. It’s pure, no frills perfection.
by joey2zs on Dec 23, 2005 10:06 AM CST reply actions
Well, excuse me for trying to be friendly. Apparently I made a mistake in thinking I would get the same kindness in return.
Everyone is also entitled ot their own opinions. If you believe this site is better (and it is a very nice site) then so be it. By the way, nothing on this earth is perfect. But nonetheless Joey. Have a safe and happy holiday.
by DanatMVN on Dec 23, 2005 10:40 AM CST reply actions
I am not a computer ghuru but I think it must be IP
I know Lee says has rotating IP but it may be the provider that has the static IP
IP block is how Raf keeps the rift raft off this site so anyway that’s my two bits
Oh DanatMVN: say bud, your comments while I guess “friendly” were also a bit self promoting and a wee condescending. I think that’s why you got the smack you did.
Merry Christmas to you and to all my blogging buds

It’s good to act like a homer when a troll comes by, when a fan of another team comes by and doesn’t act like a troll acting like a homer doesn’t cut it. It’s good to hear from another fans when they aren’t disrespectfull, I’ve had great conversations with Eagle fans, and now I’m wondering why I haven’t had another considering that we ran the table at them… Good luck and happy holidays, Dan.

Dan at MVN,
I thought we were linked, in some way, to MVN. I’ll have to check. It may be that we’re only linked to one site on MVN. I’ll be happy to set up reciprocal links.
by Rafael Vela on Dec 23, 2005 11:58 AM CST reply actions
I certainly didn’t mean to self promote. (thus why I entered no link, etc in my post.) Just a simple hello and how are you doing.
Rafael, you very well may be linked on MVN. In all likelyhood, to the Cowboys page there. I just appreciate your blog and would be more than happy to add it to my various links for other teams/sites/blogs.
Once again, to you and all your readers, happy holidays.

Dan,
Happy holidays. And good luck to your team Saturday. I think I can speak for everyone here, at least on that day.
