if u really cared about the best blog, then you would be covering the cowboys and not “who will win the best blog”…this blog is amazing however, but the votes will come if u just continue to do ur thing

say bud, that comment is a little out of left field. I didnt know about the blog until I was told about it here — so it helps to know and the comments about voting do not mean Raf doesnt really care
And you are right the blog is amazing and beats anything else out there hands down

Raf,
I have tried many times to vote.. but when I go to the link, there is no button or means to vote.

Get a life man.. As linus said.. how the heck you would know about such voting exist unless we are informed of it here or by anyone else… I didn’t see a bulletin Alert by you.. So stand down!

So happy we released Cundiff – just a day too late.

I think we will definitely beat the Rams @ home next Sunday (they just lost to the 49ers @ home – pathetic). But how does everyone feel about either WAS or CAR losing next week?

I think the odds of WAS losing are very slim. They have dominated the past 2 weeks and Eagles are horrible at this point (spanked by the Cardinals). But anything’s possible – what’s Brunell’s injury status?

Carolina losing to Atlanta seems a lot more probable. Dallas showed Carolina’s weaknesses Sunday, Atlanta is angry about that OT loss to tampa, and will want to regain some pride and head into the offseason on a high note – particularly at home. I wonder how much PT vick will get? Although Im not too worried, Matt Shaub, the backup, is better than a lot of teams’ starting QBs. I look for the falcons to win and help Dallas clinch the wild card. As ESPN’s John Clayton says:

“The Falcons will gear their whole week to ruin the Panthers’ season. Coach Jim Mora is mad, Vick is mad and going up against Carolina is a good way to release some frustration. Of all the teams playing Sunday for playoff spots, the Panthers have the most on the line.”

Thank you Atlanta, we’re on our way to Tampa. Defensive slugfest, but Cowboys can win by pressuring unproven timebomb Chris Simms into some costly turnovers. Rematch with the Seahawks – REVENGE. NFC Championship game!

If you already voted there’s no way in which you can vote again. I’ve got a rotating IP in Mexico and I can’t vote any time I’d want with another IP. Another guy in the blog said in another thread that he erased all his temp files and couldn’t vote. Another tried to get in via a linux program and couldn’t vote again also.

I think that the guy that made that poll made an admirable job.

RParr,
I am with you.. However ESPN folks are saying the only way for Cowboys to advance is skins loss not panthers..
Another thing, although skins have been dominant in the last two games AT HOME.. they really have struggled on the road… take the week before the played the Boys, they barley beat cardinals on the road.. I mean barely.
Not to mention the fact that eagles have nothing to lose and would love to play spoiler role and knock the skins out…

Chandus,
Thanks man… I tried.

I don’t think Cundiff was responsible for the 2nd near block which resulted in the penalty. He actually did an admiral job of threading the needle to get the ball through the big bodies that were 2 yards away from him. We have bigger problems with the line protection than the kicker. His first kick was a little low but the D still had major penetration. Suisham and Cundiff are comperable. How many blocks does Shuisam get next week before he gets thrown under the bus.

AlanTDot: I haven’t seen any greatness from Laducier(sp). Hias snaps have been all around the clock. The only part of our place kicking game that is worth keeping is Romo. He has done a great job fielding snaps and getting the ball down(laces out every time).

RParr:
As expressed in the drop back thread:

- Brunell is in a “day-to-day” status.

- I also think that Washington is in better shape to win at Philadelphia Sunday afternoon, I just don’t see the Philadelphia crowd as much of a factor after the season they’ve gone through, they are more likely to boo their own team.

- In the other hand, I’ll be wearing all-black Sunday noon, Dallas showed that Carolina can be burned with a good running game and then you realize that Atlanta’s the top rated unit.

by Chandus on Dec 26, 2005 4:19 PM CST reply actions

Sean:

Parcells in today’s press conference said that he had to pull the plug on Cundiff because he was also erratic in practice, not just for what happened in the game. He also said that he will miss Cundiff’s Kick Offs, Suisham isn’t that good.

by Chandus on Dec 26, 2005 4:23 PM CST reply actions

toast, i saw that too, on espn news, but i know they’re wrong, i’ve heard it from plenty of places that the panthers can lose too, dallascowboys.com, nfl network for example

What up guys
Toast and RParr
I, like you, have been going nuts with the lack of discussion (i’m talking about the sports networks, not this blog) about what the boys need to do to get in the playoffs – but I think I just found the definitive answer – right on ESPN’s own web site of all places : ). Toast, just like u said I also saw the ESPN guys repeatedly saying the boys would need a “lot” of help…and all they ever mentioned was the scenario where skins lose and boys win…but according to their own web site that’s not the whole story! If this is right the boys can get in under the following scenarios:

• The Cowboys can clinch a playoff berth with:
1. A win and a Redskins loss or tie
2. A win and a Panthers loss
3. A win and a Bucs loss and a Giants loss and Giants and Cowboys clinch strength of victory
4. A tie and a Redskins loss

that’s straight from the (ESPN) horse’s mouth – here’s the link:

Thanks Chandus. I wonder why he doesn’t have any confidence. Couldn’t be the lack of support from his coach. This is the same guy that kicked 7 FG in one game. I think not having Hoffman has hurt much more than BP thought it would. Kickers are mentally different than any other position in football and,IMHO, need to be treated with kid gloves much of the time. How good would Tiger Woods be if he had to rely on sporatic placement of his t-shots and had to take heavy verbal abuse from his employer and family every time he was off the mark.

I’m not trying to be a Cundiff apologist here, just saying the next kicker won’t fair any better with this situation. I’m sure its time for him to go but he did have several things against him that were beyond his control.

by Sean on Dec 26, 2005 5:18 PM CST reply actions

LC,
Thanks man, You are right we need a lot of help. But I really think it is doable. Wait and see.. skins will lay egg at philly. especially with Burenell out.

by Toast on Dec 26, 2005 5:21 PM CST reply actions

sean, first of all, when did he kick those 7 field goals, 2 years ago. cause last sunday he saw wobbling kicks all over the place. he barely got the first one through. we cannot, cannot afford any more of these missed chip shots if it comes down to the wire in st louis.

second, toast, we don’t need a lot of help, one loss, thats it, thats not a lot

third, thank you looz, i’ve been trying to find the official scenarios since saturday, i guess the mnf game doesnt affect anything
i knew about the redskins and panthers thing, but i didnt know about the giants + bucs loss thing. thanks for finding it

toast -

heck yes man! you’re talking to the eternal optimist here man : )

i might not have done a very good job of laying out my point when i used the words “lot” of help in my last post – i was actually being a little sarcastic against the ESPN sports announcers – I heard several of them say the boys needed a “lot” of help, and it kinda’ rubbed me the wrong way… I actually agree with you that it’s NOT that far of a stretch…

now had the situation been that the Skins, Panthers, Giants, and Bucs ALL had to lose before the boys could get in….now to me THAT’S an example of needing a “lot” of help….not saying anything’s guaranteed, but i think like u toast that the boys have a real chance to get in

by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 26, 2005 5:38 PM CST reply actions

so what exactly is strength of victory, cause that doesnt sound too good for the cowboys with all of our close games this year

by mrwnt10 on Dec 26, 2005 5:40 PM CST reply actions

looz i am just like that, with pretty much anything else, i am so pessimistic, but when the cowboys are playing, OPTIMISM OPTIMISM OPTIMISM

by mrwnt10 on Dec 26, 2005 5:42 PM CST reply actions

mrwnt10,
I can see ..maybe.. giantes losing to raders at California.. but Bucks will not lose to saints at Tampa.. I haope I am wrong.

by Toast on Dec 26, 2005 5:42 PM CST reply actions

but that strength of victory, is that the whole season cause trust me, we wouldnt win that, our only blowouts were the eagles and cardinals

by mrwnt10 on Dec 26, 2005 5:45 PM CST reply actions

wnt10 – i agree about the odds of Giants and Bucs both losing

i think our best bet like somebody said earlier is to put on your black and root for those Falcons

on a side note…i just need to vent here a bit – i am getting so SICK of hearing these sports commentators whining and crying about the fact that Steven Smith was ejected from that game – in EVERY single case i’ve seen, it’s the same old story…

“Well you know Bill, it looked like he BARELY touched the ref…wah waaah…That was Carolina’s best player! wahh wahhh”

what really pisses me off is they have absolutely no idea what might have come out of Steven Smith’s MOUTH- To me personally, it didn’t look like the ref went for his flag the SECOND Smith grabbed him…it looked like a split second or two AFTER grabbing the ref is when the ref went for the flag…as if he decided to go for the flag after hearing whatever crap came out of Smith’s big mouth…I know for a fact that during the game – on the replay in slo-mo – I saw that little loud mouth drop the F-Bomb right at the ref’s face – he got what he deserved

by Loozeeana_Cowboy on Dec 26, 2005 6:03 PM CST reply actions

LC,
Another thing kind of pissing me off is the fact that Troy Aikman is going out of his way some time to be against the Boys.. I am not saying he should be a omeboy like Thisman.. However he really leans agianst the boys.. example was what you mentioned about Smith.. I do agree what he may had said rathere than just touching the ref was his doom.. but Troy kept saying “oh smith shouldn’t have been ejacted. the touch was not to hurt the ref” Please… as if anybody thought Smith was trying to hurt the ref. Troy, get a life.

You think the announcers are whinning now about the ejection, wait till they see what usually follows it a couple of days later from the NFL and just in time for their game with the Falcons!

by sharkz on Dec 26, 2005 6:30 PM CST reply actions

sharkz,
If that happens.. which should happen “under normal circumstances” the odds will be in our favor. However I don’t think the NFL has the balls to follow through.

by Toast on Dec 26, 2005 6:39 PM CST reply actions

I feel pretty good about the Falcons chances against the Panthers. Not os good about the Eagles beating the Redskins. Nontheless, conference ‘pride’ games, which this is for the Eagles, produce unlikely results sometimes. I hope to be watching the Cowboys/Rams game with a playoff birth on the line for the Cowboys.

by mlf on Dec 26, 2005 6:50 PM CST reply actions

mrwnt10-Our kicking game has 3 flat tires, snapping has been barely adequate, line play has been porous and kicking has been bad. I’m all for getting a better kicker in but how long before BP ruins his head and the line lets him down?

by Sean on Dec 26, 2005 8:25 PM CST reply actions

heres what i got for the strength of victory:

BUCS: 70

COWBOYS: 75

wow!!! i didn’t think we would win that but those blowouts against the eagles and cardinals REALLY helped us. idk though, if they lose, that wouldn’t be a victory, so we would have won it. but remember u guys, the easiest way is for a skins or panthers loss.

GO FALCONS
