Palmer After Payton's Post
Former Browns HC and former Bill Parcells' assistant Chris Palmer will interview for the Cowboys' position left vacant by Sean Payton's departure, according to the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.
Palmer gets some dismissive reviews because his stops in Cleveland and Houston were unsuccessful. Compare them to his work in Jacksonville and New England and you see a different story. Nothing is certain, but Jerry Jones made it sound like Palmer's chances were better than good.

I saw Palmer in an interview on Cold Pizza last week or the week before and he sounded to me like he was angling for the job and heaped praise on Parcells. Given the history and the fact that he won’t try to rock the boat with BP’s playcalling I’d say count on him being the new OC.

I agree that BP is the Captain of the ship so there wont be any major changes to the way things get done. Palmer has a ton of NFL experience and has hopfully learned from his mistakes. In the back of my mind I just cant help but think “ask David Carr how he likes Palmers offense.”

Palmer could definitely be our next OC, since he’s a BP guy. I’m not worried about Palmer’s offense or play-calling, because BP will be calling the plays.

Don’t forget Houston had probably the worst O-line in the NFL last season. I remember when Palmer was let go, a lot of analysts were bemoaning the fact that he could do nothing with that O-line. and the Texans were fair on O during the 2004 season.

If your line cannot block anyone it does not matter what plays you call.
Palmer seems to have had a decent career before Texas.

You guys have hit the nail on the head. If we dont sure up that O line then it doesnt matter who the OC is or who is calling plays. That is without a doubt my #1 concern. It has been for the past few seasons. The only thing different this time around as compared to before is, we dont have all the other huge holes we have to address as well. Going into last season there was the oline, safety, cornerback, d line, pretty much the entire def, quarterback, and the kicking game. Not to say that all of those problems are solved but we are no where near as bad off as we were this time last season. So i hope BP and JJ can spend a little more time on the oline this season.

It looks as if The Ticket report was correct. Sparano will not be promoted. I have a bad feeling about Palmer in the same way I had a bad feeling about Rivera. Like the rest of you have said. Nothing matters if the O-Line isn’t fixed.
