Super Bowl Spreads
We've avoided it lately, but the Super Bowl is two days away. I'm still trying to work out my plans, but I'm interested in knowing your Super Bowl food. What type of spread are you or your friends preparing? Good ideas are always welcome.

I’m cooking fajitas and my wife is making home-made tortillas. I usually like to BBQ but thought we would try something different this year. My sister-in-law is making a delicious sopapilla cheesecake dessert to polish it off.

going to a friends up the road in Richmond……sure there will be plenty of good food.
A favorite of mine is homemade turkey chili with black beans, kidney beans, canned tomatoes…..Furmanos Crushed Tomatoes…..chili powder, jalepenos……..serve with fresh shredded cheese, chips, sour cream, and wacamole……with plenty of garlic mixed in with those avocados……mmmmm good……another good one is TACO SOUP couple cans of salsa….ground beef can of beef broth..add any fresh peppers, galic, tomatoes you like……..top with broken chips and cheese….and some fresh pico……also mmmm good.
Seahawks win in a close one…….tired of all the Pittsburgh hype……and don’t want to see one for the thumb anyhow…..so Hasselback and Holmgrem get it done……..
Hawks 24 Steelers 17
seahawks defense has been ignored and overlooked all year…….but that is still Ray Rhodes up there….and as coordinators go he is pretty darn good…..

I like to see Seahawks to win as well.. Don’t want to see Steelers to win the 5th one to be equal of our Boys… Also I am sick and tired of Bradshaw yapping his jaw, bad mouthing our boys lately on TV, saying How Pits whipped the Boys during his two wins against the Boys and how Pits players conducted themselves well as oppose to Cowboys arrogant “America’s Team Image”. If I am not mistaking both games were close and it could have gone either way…, another words Boys did not get whipped, as Terry the “genius” would like to put it.

My wife makes the best ribs, I’ll grill some rib-eyes plus hot dogs and hamburgers for the kids
A pot of chili, homemade potato salad, and lots of gnoshies.
Remember, life’s too short to drink bad beer, so we’ll have some Stoli.
A nice Padron 1926 Anniversario, maybe an Opus X and I’m set. Will not be blogging that night.

Jon, that sounds fantastic. You should be on the food network.
I agree with most, anyone but “the Pitts”. Never liked those guys, but I have to admit they city is nice.

Fighter 15,
Laughting with you on the Stoli comment. I’ll be drinking some myself (I must admit, I have a bottle of the regular stuff and have found an amazing list of drinks to make with the Vanilla Stoli as well) and trying to blog as well, though the blogging may be a bit… slurred, shall we say. :)

More than one of my diatribes here has been Stoli-induced. That Vanil is something else, huh?

We’ll roast some oysters, steam some shrimp, have some chips and salsa and guac, got some blue cheese burgers, couple bottles of white, some of red, case of Palmetto pale ale…
bloody marys before lunch time, beers while preparing food and talking, wine with food, and grey goose on the rocks while I celebrate my bet on the Seahawks and the money line.
If it gets nutty later on, there’s 2nd rate champagne in the fridge.
Tylenol and Pepcid AC before bed time.
Seahawks 24-16 MVP – Tatupu

Looks like the fam is going with blue king crabfest style with some jumbalaya and our famous “lord I’ve met my redeemer soup” which consists of corn on the cob, fresh spinach, andouille sausage, black beans, red beans, spanish rice, pacific prawns, mozarella cheese with some sharp chedder on the top, and the best sauce to kick things up to high heaven! I don’t want the steelers to tie with our boys and all, but come on, seattle is going to get embarasses on sunday, this is gonna be like the san francisco versus san diego back in 94

Rafael:
Since you mentioned the Stoli Vanilla thing…are you familiar with a shot called a Chocolate Cake, sometimes also known as a Birthday Cake? If not, I highly recommend it. Recipes for it are online. All you need is some Frangelico, some sugar, and lemons. Have fun with that Stoli whatever you drink!!

LMAO…“Stoli induced diatribes”. I avoid that myself: Blogging Under the Influence. I have been known to have a beer or a Bloody Mary right after pressing “Spike It” though. LOL.
Sounds lame, but I could really care less about this game. At least last year I wanted to see the Eagles lose, the year before I wanted to see the Panthers win, and the year before Bucs and Raiders were interesting with the Gruden angle. This game…nothing.
As a result I am going to take advantage of the SB Sunday light I-101 traffic and go up to Santa Barbara with my girlfriend. Get out of the madness here for a day and breathe some clean air, walk on the beach, have a nice meal, and sip some wine. I need it. If it had been Panthers, Colts, any number of other teams I would want to watch this game more. This matchup doesn’t do anything for me.
I’ll pick the Seahawks to win. I’m sick of hearing about Steelers.

I will be making my world famous wing sauce and cooking up about 200 wings for a get together at my house. Saturday is gonna be hell.

have fun boys. i’m looking forward to watching the game on my own tv in my own house. i think i’ll make some real nachos.
dont forget the boys working the streets of iraq. they’ll be watching too when they can.
it shouldnt be lost on us that we have played both SB teams close in recent times. We can get alot better soon.

Jon Bartlett, Mike, 7527Cowboys, you guys can come over to party anytime. You all know how to live properly.
The Edge wants to leave Indy. That’s great news, in my humble opinion. Ideally, Memphis’ great tailback and/or LenDale White will be around when it’s the Cowboys’ time to pick. They can trade down with the Colts, so the Colts can move up and grab a difference-maker at RB.
That should resupply us with the pick we traded to take Canty in last year’s draft. Dropping back in an OL and OLB heavy draft isn’t a terrible idea.
Trading LaRoi should provide an additional 2nd or 3rd. This could be a sensational off season.

Fighter, I’ve been saying “Life’s too short to drink Miller Lite” for years. Prosit, brother!
Sab, Monday will be hell too if you do it right.

I’ll be starting off with some chips and salsa. Then a little shoyu poke(raw tuna and soy sauce,) kim chee style tako poke (half cooked octopus,) to bring me back to Oahu’s North Shore, where I started rooting for the Cowboys. I’ll top it off with some ribeye on the grill, and wash it all down with some Newcastle brown ale and Guinness draught. Mmmmmmm…..
I’ll take the Seahawks in this one. I don’t want Pittsburgh to get one for the thumb, and would love to see Bradshaw’s manic response after they lose. Better to see that than his even more manic response if they win.
Seattle 28
Pittsburgh 24
MVP Hasselbeck
And don’t trade Glover!

For us it’ll be a variety of 5 different Subs from a local deli. Homemade Chili and a Refried bean dip for the snacks.
One thing I gotta point out is that everyone and their dog is saying “Steelers to Win”! But not here. Not here. Its all Seahawks on the blog. I love it! Any good Cowboy fan should remember the past and have a never ending disdane for the Sqeelers. Thats why I you guys and this web site. Go Seahawks tomorrow and Go Cowboys 2006!!!!!
