Jim Mora's job may be in jeapardy

I was listening to Sirius and they replaced an interview Jim Mora had with a station in Seattle. He told them that if the job at the University of Washington became available that he would immediately pack his bags and leave the Falcons. He also said it didn't matter if they had just won the SuperBowl or if they were in the middle of a playoff run. I'm guessing he's going to try to play it off as he was joking, but he said in all seriousness once or twice in the interview. I don't know about you, but if I were a Falcon I would not be too happy with my coach right now.

This is pretty amazing
Talk about a distraction!

Here is the audio.

...and the transcript

Interviewer: If there's an opening, and you're available, we want you to coach the Huskies.

Mora: Well, I really have a lot of respect for Ty, and I know he'll do a great job. But if he ever decides to move on, and get in the NFL or you know, go back to Notre Dame or whatever, if that job's open you'll find me at the friggin' head of the line with my resume in my hand ready to take that job.

Interviewer: If you're available.

Mora: It doesn't even matter if I'm available.

Interviewer: So if you just won the Super Bowl, and it's available, you're there?

Mora: I'd be there

Interviewer: You're there, okay.

Mora: I'd do it, I promise you that. Now, I want to see Ty succeed, and I want to see that program succeed. But if he decides at some point that he's ready to move on and they want me, I will be there. I don't care if we're in the middle of a playoff run, I'm packing my stuff and coming back to Seattle.

Interviewer: So, are you saying...

Mora: You know, it's funny, and I mean that, and I'm dead serious, the further I get away from it the more I'm drawn to it. You know, that's the job I want, so...

Interviewer: You would leave the Falcons for that job?

Mora: Absolutely.

Interviewer: Wow.

Mora: Yeah. As I sit here, I'm looking at a Husky helmet.

Mora isn't a good coach anyway
So the Falcons would be better off IMO. He coddles Vick way too much and the Falcons have underachieved almost every year since he's been HC. He isn't half the coach his dad was.

He must know he's gone after this season
Otherwise, why make those comments while your team is still in playoff contention.

He's better suited for college coaching, IMO. I don't think he handles the pressure of the NFL very well.

Gotta wonder if Vick responds.

Mora
I'm a little bit surprised, yes. More than anything, I'm pissed off that a coach who almost deliberately seems to make poor decisions at times is openly talking about bolting his job. If this is to make himself look good after he gets canned, he's not fooling anyone.

If Mora didn't spend his time in ATL coddling Vick
We might know whether he's actually a good coach or not.
