Lions @ Cowboys gameday open thread

Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys
Sunday, Dec. 31st, 2006
1:00 PM EST, TV: FOX
Texas Stadium - Irving, TX

Internet radio: WOAI

TV: If you have Sunday Ticket on DirecTV, the game is on channel 712.

This is an open thread for real-time game chat.

The last game of the regular season, kind of bittersweet. At least we have another game coming up, many teams are heading home. We need this game to get back on track. A big win provides some confidence heading to the tournament. So in that spirit, I'm calling for a Cowboys win in a blowout.

My prediction: Cowboys 38 - Lions 13

Weather Forecast

51 degrees
Partly Cloudy
Humidity 50%
Winds 17 mph

FOX is broadcasting the game to 60% of the nation, you can see the local station broadcast schedule here. You can see where the game will be broadcast on a map here.

Mosley says McQuistan is replacing Fabini on the active roster today. Tony Parrish is also active today.

Dallas Defense better show up today
Detroit has got no running game whatsoever.

by Deke on Dec 31, 2006 12:00 PM CST reply actions

If Dallas cant win this game
with Detroit at home and detroit basically tyring to loose this game to earn the number one pick for BQ, then this team doesnt deserve to even exist...

it's always called
especially when the defensive player is leading with the helmet..

by Longhorn @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 12:05 PM CST up reply actions

why?
Cause he lead with the helmet to another players helmet?

by Longhorn @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 12:08 PM CST up reply actions

was he defenseless?

by Longhorn @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 12:09 PM CST up reply actions

isn;t everybody?

by ab03 @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 12:10 PM CST up reply actions

There was
nothing he could do. It looked like he was going to catch the ball and Newman went for him. Instead the ball gets tipped and Roy grabs it. It's kind of difficult to adjust yourself in the air.

by Tristan on Dec 31, 2006 12:11 PM CST up reply actions

No
He was hit at the same instant his hands hit the ball. Perfectly legal and BS call by the officials.

by Philosopher on Dec 31, 2006 12:12 PM CST up reply actions

leaving his feet to hit a defenseless player
is a penalty, that was a good call. I remember Darren Woodson getting fined for that.

Comical.

Last week I was mad
this week I'm depressed.

We just look awful. Although, it is true we are holding them to FG's. But a better team is up 14-0 right now and we all know it.

nice way to get noticed in your first Cowboy game

This is shocking
I can't believe how unprepared the Cowboys appear.  This is beyond the pale.

by AmosM on Dec 31, 2006 12:34 PM CST reply actions

To be this underprepared
and lack any emotion at all after what happened last weeks reflects very badly on Parcells. As much as I like him, he isn't getting this team ready to do anything but get whipped.

Funny
that a while back we were a pretty solid team in all areas except at kicker. Get rid of Vandy and replace him with a kicker who seems to be able to make FG's on a consistent basis, and the rest of the team falls apart.

Maybe Vandy was our good-luck charm.

It's official Terry - Romo Sucks
I haven't seen a QB drop the ball so easy since Leaf was here.

NO
OUR DEFENSE SUCKS.

saying Romo sucks is just stupid

by Lobo on Dec 31, 2006 3:06 PM CST up reply actions

u ever make a mistake at work?
yes?

well then i guess u suck too.

by Lobo on Dec 31, 2006 3:08 PM CST up reply actions

Give it a rest
Calling out Romo for today's performnace is perfectly legitimate.

Ok, maybe SUCKS is harsh
But you put the blame where it belongs. Those turnovers killed us and don't start making excuses for balls that slipped or whatever. Romo seems to have a lot of poise but he's also blowing it when putting up points on Detroit seems to be so easy.

by Doomsday on Dec 31, 2006 3:13 PM CST up reply actions

Grizz
that's just ridiculous..

he had one play that hurt us...no qb is perfect

by Lobo on Dec 31, 2006 3:20 PM CST up reply actions

Dumb play
by Romo, but the offense put 31 points up. If we had a defense that could make just one or two stops on third down, they wouldn't have 39 points.

by Philosopher on Dec 31, 2006 3:09 PM CST up reply actions

Actually the offense put up 24
Newman's return was the other 7.

Anyway, if the D could forces a few more punts, it would have been a different game.

Story of the past few weeks.....

ROMO SUCKS
He already peaked.  Carrie Underwood isn't going to date a loooser.

don't break your legs
falling off the bandwagon fairweather fanboys.

c-ya next year.

by Lobo on Dec 31, 2006 3:11 PM CST reply actions

No bandwagon
I've been saying it the entire time, he's not the QB for the future.

by BringBackQuincy on Dec 31, 2006 3:12 PM CST reply actions

wow
really?  thats kind of ridiculous.  he has an arm and pretty good accuracy.

by ab03 @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 3:13 PM CST up reply actions

6
a lot of mediocre qbs have those qualities

by BringBackQuincy on Dec 31, 2006 3:16 PM CST reply actions

Third home loss
and seven years since we won our season ending game

by Deke on Dec 31, 2006 3:23 PM CST reply actions

Get ready for the offseason
This team will be blown out next week in Seattle.

by Deke on Dec 31, 2006 3:24 PM CST reply actions

all hail romo
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

by BringBackQuincy on Dec 31, 2006 3:24 PM CST reply actions

Okay
He had no running game, no O-Line protection, and a defense that keeps him behind most of the time. The Lions punted ONCE during the second half. Consider that.

Consider that for just a minute.....

unfortunately,
you're talking to glass half full people who have actually sucked the moderator of this site into their negative close minded world.

by Longhorn @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 3:27 PM CST up reply actions

Seattle next week
Let's hope they're not as good as those Detroit Lions.

by Doomsday on Dec 31, 2006 3:24 PM CST reply actions

team is bad from top to bottom

by BringBackQuincy on Dec 31, 2006 3:25 PM CST reply actions

I'm confused,...
I thought Parcells was a DEFENSIVE GENIUS??

by Dale in Atlanta on Dec 31, 2006 3:29 PM CST reply actions

maybe
he should call the defensive plays

by ab03 @ Blogging The Boys on Dec 31, 2006 3:30 PM CST up reply actions

The Good news...
the Cowboys will be able to rest after next weekend, and get ready for Training camp...

by Dale in Atlanta on Dec 31, 2006 3:30 PM CST reply actions

The Silver Lining is...
this hopefully is Parcells LAST regular season as HC of the Cowboys...

He'll bolt like Clinton after an Intern on her knees, once the Cowboys get killed next week...

He likes to through his players, and assistant coaches under the bus when they lose, and he won't want to take any credit for this; so Hopefully next week is the last we ever have to see of the ass...

Then, under someone knew, we can get a real Offensive Coordinator; shore up the OL by getting rid of Rivera and Adams, move Anthony Henry to FS, and fine at least ONE other pass rusher for the Defense...

But again, HOPEFULLY, this is the LAST time we have to see "Mr. I'm so much smarter than everyone and so superior to all you peons...and I can prove by having all my teams collapse in December EVERY YEAR..."
