According to "sources", ESPN.com's Ed Werder is reporting that the Cowboys are going to hire Jason Garret. The thought is that they will hire him as an offensive coordinator for now and then decide whether to make him the head coach later, most likely depending on the availability of other coaches and how their interviews go.
Personally, I think it would be a mistake to hire him as coach. It's a combination of him not having any head/assistant coaching experience and not trusting Jerry Jones that much. If I had my druthers, I'd take something like this:
HC: (1)Norm Chow, (2)Brian Schottenheimer (sp?), (3)Norv Turner, (4)Wade Phillips, (5)Ron Rivera
OC: Jason Garret (just because it seems done)
DC: (1) Mike Singletary, (2) Al Groh (Virginia HC who I haven't heard mentioned anywhere)
