Waiting...open thread

Well, it's been an hour and a half since the media first said Mike Singletary was going to come out of his interview and speak. Apparently, he's still in there with Jerry. Could we have a surprise on our hands? Did Singletary stare at Jerry with those crazy-eyes and make him offer up a head coaching contract on the spot?

if it keeps us from Turner

I'll throw my chips in for Singletary if it keeps us from wearing the tracks of a retread like Turner. I've told friends that if we think Garrett is going to be a uniquely great head coach, we ought to hire him right now and throw caution to the wind. Similarly, if Singletary blows Jerry's mind, then bring him on. At least he's a tough-minded hardass coach with a defensive mindset and not your friendly Uncle Ned.

If we'd credible defensive coaching...

Dallas would have easily won the NFC East.
Of course if TO had caught 1/2 of his drops, we'd have been 14-2.
If Singletary can coach defense the way he played LB for the Bears, our problems are solved.

This feels similar

to being a prospective grandfather with the due date past and no delivery - waiting for the phone to ring - waiting for the good news: "We have a coach!". Maybe we could send up smoke signals like at the Vatican????

I agree with you Amos. I believe we need defensive intensity rather than offense. Both coaches in the SuperBowl are defensive coaches as was last year's winner. With a better defense last year we did not need that last minute field goal. I am not sure what it takes for that to improve (yes - I read all the media experts and I know nothing more than before reading them). I am glad Coach Parcells has left the building. Jerry needs to take the blame or the praise for this hire by himself.
