Tony Romo - America's Kid

I was watching Monday Night Countdown on ESPN on Monday and Tom Jackson said that Bret Farve wins for "the funnest player in the league." Now I agree with that, but I think he's got some serious competition coming up in the form of our own Tony Romo. I want to tell you why I am such a fan of Tony Romo. It's not just the slippery moves in the pocket or the slick passes downfield. Sure, I love Romo's game but I want love even more is that he just seems like a little kid out there.

Anytime I've seen or heard Tony Romo during an interview, he always seems to know that an interview is just that..an interview. It's not an investigation. He has fun with it. Take our opener against the Giants. Right before the game is about to start, Suzy Kolber got Romo's final thoughts. He gave them and then as he was about to run to play an NFL game..he gave a little fun look back at the camera. He raised his eyebrows and just smiled like a big ole' goof. This is a guy who loves this game and to me, looks like he loves life.

Star-divide

It also looks like a guy who doesn't take himself too seriously. Talking about his amazing (and downright hilarious in a good way for Boys fans) scramble against the Rams..he replied to an interviewer "yeah that play really won the game" and simply rolled his eyes and laughed. He takes playful shots at T.O. He said last year that his favorite target was Oliver Hoyte. C'Mon, who doesnt get a kick out of this guy.

This little kid attitude also translates on the field. When he throws a TD..he doesn't just jog down the field to his reciever. He sprints and jumps like he just won the Superbowl on every TD. I think Romo's attitude is infectious to the players. There is more smiling this year in Dallas, and its not just because of the wins. It's because the guy under center is fun to watch, play with, and root for. Tony Romo is a big kid, and I'm glad he is ours.

couldn't agree more with you

Brett Favre used to be the funnest player in the league, but not anyomre, its definitely our boy Tony.

I love his personality just as much as his playing ability. As a fan, I can't comprehend how anyone cannot love this kid.

He seems to be one of those guys that would be really cool to hang out with, best friend kind of guy, always joking around and having fun.

You're right, I'm estatic he's ours.

In Romo we Trust

True dat

I completely agree. Tony is an extremely down to earth guy. I can recall first hand, as I'm sure other BTB regulars can, at training camp...he signed tons of autographs. He stayed for at least an hour spending time with his fans. I like this, in the sense that he remembers where he comes from. Great post Dave.

yep

Absolutely..I just love a guy who haves fun with the game. Thats why I was always jealous of Donovan McNabb..he was always smiling (until the past couple years when he realized the rigors of playing for ungrateful Philly fans..thats another gripe I have..they don't realize how good they have it with a healthy McNabb. I hope he leaves and lets Romo have the East for the next couple of years)
