Do you guys remember back 3 to 4 years ago, and even 2 years ago? You know, when it seemed the Cowboys were destined to be the Bill Parcells All-Stars?
Now, let's think back. Can you remember all the players that played for Dallas that were previously on Bill Parcells coached teams? Or even players that had some connection to to him in someway, mostly the sons of previous players who were on the roster of Tuna coached teams? Now, I have no problem with Marion Barber III or Bobby Carpenter, i'n my opinion they have both panned out pretty decent. Then there was Terry Glenn, Richie Anderson, Vinny Testaverde, Drew Bledsoe, Keyshawn Johnson and i'm sure there were more. This isn't what this article is about though.
Do you remember, Just those few short years ago, people everywhere called Cowboys the oldest team in the game. ESPN was always on our case for not going younger and always going older. My, what just a few short years changes. Have you looked at the roster lately, this is a young team. A lot younger than I can remember in years past.
On the cowboys current roster, there are only 5 players in double digit seasons. Terrell Owens and Terry Glenn both at 12 years, Greg Ellis and Flozell Adams both a 10 a piece, and then there's Brad Johnson and he's been around 16 of em. So that's only four starters at 10 plus years, and TG isn't even starting right now. Also, not including those players just listed, We have only 7 players with more than 5 years experience!
Now, sometimes younger isn't always better. That can come back and bite you in the butt real quick. In our situation, however, we're a great team that is only getting better. It feels good to know that this is an overall young team, and barring releasing or injuries, will stay a good team. Now get this, I'm 24 years old, born on July 12th 1983. I am older than 14 players on this roster, 7 of who see significant playing time on the field.
I believe I can speak for us all when I say i'm excited about the future as well as the present. We have two first rounders next year and either way we go we are bound to get some great talent on the team.
