Giants Concerned about Witten

The New York Post does an article on how Witten had a career day against the Giants in week one and how the Giants are determined to not let it happen again.

Along with several other Giants defenders, Pierce all but vowed that the three-time Pro Bowl tight end would not repeat his career-best performance that September night at Texas Stadium.

Witten hauled in six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown with five of the six catches resulting in a first down, but the statistics only tell part of the story. Witten was uncovered on virtually every route he ran.

Snip

"We're going to know where No. 82 (Witten) is at all times," Wilson said. "We're going to have some people looking after him, I promise you that."

Sounds to me like TO and Crayton will have big days if the Giants overcompensate for Witten.

I love these type articles

They illustrate the "pick your poison" offense that Dallas runs. Like Derek said, our WR's could have big days if they run the safeties over the top on Witten in the middle. But check out this quote from the article:

"A lot of it was zone drops that we didn't get deep enough on and he got behind us," cornerback R.W. McQuarters said. "He's going to get his catches, but what we can't allow is for him to get behind us like that."

Love it. If they drop their linebackers into deeper coverage, and they plan to use that light 4-DE line in passing situations, the Cowboys could turn to the run behind that massive line and power run it down their throats. Then, when they come forward a little with their LB's and go to a more conventional line, punish them in the passing game.

I can see it already

Witten runs off the linebackers and Romo dumps it over the middle to The Barbarian for a first down.  Over and over again.

Watch for Fasano

Witten will get his catches but watch for Fasano to get a few big ones this game. Our TE core has to be the best in the league and I'm predicting Fasano to have a 75+ yard game. Also look for Crayton and a little Hurd too. And like bluewolf said watch for MB3 to get a lot of dumps passes.

pick your poison is right

if a team takes away one of our studs, there are plenty more receivers Romo can go to.

In Romo we Trust

I wish we still had Deon Anderson healthy

He was really coming through.  Anyway, enough beating a dead horse.

I say Witten still has a great game despite the extra attention (6 catches - 90 yds - TD).

If they do that...

we will nickle and dime them with quick short pases, short runs and eat up the clock in the first half and the begining of the second half, just like the Pats did us.  Then in the second quarter, when they are out of breath and tired, we will launch our speed attack with passes down the field, and power running plays with the barbarion grinding the yards out.

This is going to be a fun game to watch.

I love me some T.O....I ain't skeerd!!!!!

I'm not worried about their D

because our tackles are going to domeinate their d-ends again and once you slow them down or put a stop to it all together, then they have nothing. That was proven in the first game. And we have just to many weapons to be shut down. Now my concern is Eli to Burgess, they had a good game againist us last time. I do however feel with Tank in there and our steady rotation of players we will get more pressure on Manning. And thats just with the front three and if we play alot of that 6 d-back set, keeping Burgess in front of us, that will shut them down. And I don't really want to get into another shotout. But the key is pressure on Manning, cause when you do, that boy is like oragomy, folds under pressure. I just hope the boys come out pumped, cause the Gaints are going to be.

i'm not worried about burgess

because we'll just put all the pressure on him like the gnats plan to do on witten, but as it has been said we have plenty more talent.  sure they have toomer and shockey, but they are having mostly pedestrian years.
