Terry Glenn News

According to Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips, Terry Glenn is running routes and catching passes. May practice with the team this week.

Looks like they've actually targetted the Carolina game for a possible return. No way vs. the Eagles they say.

Yeah

I guess you should have to read every single diary before posting anything, even ones that don't tell what they're about in the title.

It will be nice...

...to have Glenn back but the more I think about it, the more unlikely it seems that he will be anywhere close to his old self. I think what will be missing is his speed and big-play capability. How can someone have two knee surgeries in one season and still be a burner?

He does bring a veteran presence and is a sure-handed, solid route runner. But will he stretch the field?

no he won't, he'll be fine

thats the reason he hasn't played all year, he wanted to be absolutely 100% before coming back.

His knee surgeries were arthoscopic, and as someone who's had several, they're not a big deal at all.

His actual knee was probably 100% a long time ago, but he needed several months to regain the strength and speed he lost rehabbing.

He'll be the old Terry Glenn, don't fret one bit.

what the hell?

i understand being optimistic but you are just lying.  you have no factual evidence to back up anything that you said.  yeah, he only got his knee scoped but he could have had career ending surgery on it and he chose the latter.  if anything, there is a guarantee almost that he won' be the same terry glenn but what we will get instead might be sufficient for what he would do.

and his actual knee was not, and still is not 100%.  i seriously have no idea where you get this stuff.

from the last article posted on Glenn

explaining that his rehab the last several months has been regaining stength in his knee.

Yeah he could have had microsurgery on his knee but choose not to because then it would have definitely made him less than 100% to play.

I'm not sure if Glenn could ever be at 100% over the course of a season because of his chondromalysia, which I also have by the way and am very familiar with its symtoms and limitations, but over the span of 4 or 5 games could play at 100%.

my factual evidence is dealing with the same condition myself. What happens with chondromalysia is that the cartlidge underneath the kneecap starts to deteriorate and bits and pieces of that cartlidge breaks off and gets stuck within the joint. This cartlidge debris causes swelling and pain which needs scoped to remove the lose particles. There is microsurgery that can go a long ways in helping this condition, but the knee will never be able to withstand the constant pounding a pro athlete takes which is why Glenn elected to just get it scoped and play this year so he could be at 100% when he did resume playing.

Is this the same condition

that Amare had in Phoenix and Zack Randolph had in Portland (now New York)? Because they had microsurgery and seem to have fully recovered and the pounding a basketball player takes jumping repeadly on a hard floor for 90 - 110 games a year seems to be evidence that not all microfracture surgery is debilitating. I am thinking of Greg Oden and how he will fare as well.

Also I note you use microsurgery and not the more common microfracture surgery. Is there a difference?

Terry would know this better than I

But I believe they are the same conditions.  It seems like the surgery is improving; it doesn't seem to be the career kiss of death now that it was a few years ago.  It basically killed Penny Hardaway's career (remember, he was all-NBA first team early in his career).

I would have to think it would be better to play with this in football than in basketball due to the wear and tear on your knees from all the jumping, but neither is a walk in the park.  We'll see when Glenn comes back what he has left.  Even if he is a little slower, he can still help this team if all else remains the same.
