11 point favorites! I never thought I'd see that big a number. Word on Romos thumb may change that, but still. It's a home game for Carolina, who just beat the 9-4 Seahawks.
Also, what's the deal with Stanback. Technically, he's probably our third QB, right?

Crayton is the 3rd (Emergency) QB
Stanback hasn't been taking snaps at QB. The Boys are trying to convert him to WR. Taking snaps at QB would only slow that process.
why are you surprised??
The Cowboys are still the best team in the NFC and the Panthers one of the worse.
Being favored by 11 seems like a no brainer to me.
Over reacting
ESPN and all the other sports media outlets will over react and say the Cowboys are worthless because it sells programming. Vegas and other odds makers make money by betting and they are pretty good at it. Those casinos take a lot of money to build. IMO sports lines are a more accurate gauge of a team then any sports analyst right now.

Well,
they lost money last week with their call on the Eagles matchup. We were about the same point favorites in that game too.
I'm not saying we won't win, just that their is cause for uneasiness. The loss, the thumb, the other injuries, their slight momentum, etc.
last week
Last week was an aberration for the Cowboys. It was also just one game from one week and thus is too small a sample size to refute my argument. Compare the win/loss vs. the spread for all games through out the season and you will probably get a different result.

But really...
Sports lines just gauge what bettors think, not what the casinos really feel. They want to put the line where some people are confident in both the team beating and covering the spread. I realize the casinos set the initial lines and they try to pick the outcome in doing so, but it's more to stimulate betting than anything else.
...of course, I am not an expert gambler, so someone please correct me if I am mistaken.
you're right to an extent
If the betters bet heavily on one team, but Vegas doesn't move the line then they really like that team. Maybe that would be a better way of stating that.
