Last week, I predicted that T.O. would have a decent game against his old team at home. Boy, was that wrong. If the Cowboys offense had generated just one measly TD, the game would have been won.
The Eagles game was very frustrating. The Cowboys had completely dominated the Eagles in Philadelphia. The collapse was totally unexpected, and the injuries to key players made it all so much worse.
OFFENSE:
QB Matt Moore--Better than Romo in throwing the ball into Cowboy hands.
RB Marion Barber--His TDs were just part of the story.
DEFENSE:
S Courtney Brown--Why not? He practiced a lot against Matt Moore. This is the chance to show his speed. Can he get his first pick?
LB DeMarcus Ware--I'm going with him every week.
SPECIAL TEAMS:
Miles Austin--Takes it to the house!
O.T. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, AND REMEMBER THE TROOPS
The tv shots of Jessica Simpson's reactions really disturbed me. Celebrity culture is this country is totally misplaced.
This Saturday will be the third Cowboys game this season that I will not be able to watch on tv. I missed the Buffalo game because Time Warner cut the wrong wires and took 24 hours to correct its error. The Green Bay game was on the NFL Network, and now the Carolina game is on the NFL Network. It's all about money--the Cowboys and the NFL don't have enough.
A brief time ago, while in the Dominican Republic to help my wife's father (during Tropical Storn Olga) and using a poor internet connection, I wrote some lines here for a Cowboys version of a "Super Bowl Shuffle" to help the troops during wartime. Frankly, I didn't think reciting a few lines (such as "I'm Marion, the Barbarian...") was all that difficult for the Cowboys to do during a bye week. I guess no one on the Cowboys responded to my suggestion of a team video to support our country.
Tony Romo and Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones can do commercials for Pepsi Max and Papa John's and ESPN, but they draw the line about supporting our troops during wartime? Leonard Davis can't rap a few lines ("They call me Bigg...") to help the Pat Tillman Foundation, in memory of a former teammate who gave his life to defend freedom?
Nobody has heard of Fort Hood? Nobody has heard of Fort Sam Houston? None of the multi-millionaires on our Cowboys can help our real Texas heroes in a big, meaningful way?
Anyway, happy holidays to all.
Remember that this is only a game, and the real heroes (I'm not talking about pizza or soda or a ditzy blonde)...well, I guess they don't matter much.
