This game should not be taken so lightly

In my opinion, we should not take this game so lightly.  I think we need to play our starters that are not injured and try to put the Redskins away this week. I think they are playing the best football of any other team in the NFC right now.  We have played poorly 2 out of the last 3 games, average this last week, and haven't come close to looking like the team we are capable of being since the Green Bay game.

Star-divide

I think we need to be treating this game like a playoff game. I'd much rather play the Vikings, Saints, Giants, or Bucs in the first playoff game than the Skins, who I think have a good chance of knocking the Seahawks out of the playoffs.

We have a week to rest our players with the bye in the playoffs.  I don't think this week is the time to worry about resting players.

The Redskins gave us a good game the first time we played them, when we had a healthy team.  I personally don't feel like we should give them another chance in the playoffs.

I get your point

but I think we should only play the starters the first half.  We need to rest the guys who are gimpy (TO, Gurode, T-New, Watkins) but I'd like to see Romo play a half with TG and then rest.  Nobody wants an injury but too much time off is not good either.

I think,,,

No game should be taken lightly but in this case i dont think we should risk injury to win.  So that means sit TO and the rest of the injured. When we play our best ball we are the best team in the league. The pats game the offense beat themeselves but anyway.

Defn try to win just dont give it to them but no reason to pull out all the tricks just to win.

It's tempting

but it depends on what you mean by healthy. Anyone who is slightly dinged up should sit, and anyone who is irreplaceable as well - Romo, Witten, Ware.

And I think the most dangerous teams to Dallas would be GB and Seattle.

Although I would say this

If Glenn plays, I expect Romo to play at least a little to get some work in. And if Romo plays, I expect the starting O-line and TE for that time.

No offense

but that is a terrible idea.

We might not even have to play them in the playoffs, and even if we did if we can beat them without T.O. then we can destroy them with.

We need to rest people and prevent injury.  If Romo gets injured playing a meaningless game then we are all screwed.

what happened 2 or 3 yrs ago

when the colts resred people - they did not even make the SB - I say play them we want MOJO on our side

by Arkcowboys on Dec 25, 2007 2:20 PM CST up reply actions

oh 'rested' people

I think it had more to do with them not having a championship caliber defense.  They had to put the weight on Peyton Manning's shoulders.  Last year their defense won games for them in the playoffs when Bob Sanders got back.

that wasn't the reason Colts lost that year

they lost not because they rested players, but because they weren't focused because of the death of Dungy's son right before the playoffs started.

No way...

I think we should play to win with non-essential personell.  Romo, Witten, Ware, Barber, etc...should see only limited snaps.  It is not a given that we will lose playing backups.  Have our younger guys come in an play their rear ends off.  Play solid defense and we definately have a shot at winning this game...even with BJ taking the snaps.

no NFC team is a threat

because if they are, we have no chance in the SB, its as simple as that.

I dont understand

how you can say that if it were to come down to us playing the redskins that we'd kill them.  How did we do in that first game against them?  They had multiple chances to beat us, plus their defense is playing like it was when it was tops in the league.  I'm just sayin!

Playoff Opponent

Of the three teams vying for that last spot, the Redskins are the team in the middle for me.  I'd much rather face the Vikings again.  (I'm still nervous about the Saints after the beating they handed us last year.)  I don't think we'll kill the Redskins in a rematch, but I'm pretty confident we could beat them at home again (especially after a weekend off).

by RickT on Dec 26, 2007 7:26 AM CST up reply actions

If we don't destroy both NFC teams we face

then I don't want to go to the SB.

If any NFC teams give us problems in the playoffs, we'll have no chance in the SB as the Pats or Colts will absolutely destroy us.

I don't get it

If the Cowboys get a few bad injuries, they'll have a much tougher time versus any playoff opponent than they would normally, making a such victory over the Redskins pyrrhic.

Also, if the Cowboys can theoretically beat the Redskins at will this weekend in D.C., why would things be worse for the Cowboys two weeks later in Texas?

by Ascorbate on Dec 26, 2007 7:46 AM CST reply actions

I have to agree

They've checked off all their regular season goals and now have to focus on the next one. And you can't get to the NFC Championship without your best players and as always, a little bit of luck.

Just wanted to make a little discussion

I just don't like the idea of playing the skins again. You can pay me no attention at all if you'd like.  I guess some would call me crazy but I've been saying all year that the Pats won't make it to the SB and still don't think they will.  I can see Indy taking them in the playoffs, but I think Jacksonville or San Diego would have the best chance against them because of the defenses.

It was a great discussion

And it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

could happen..

jacksonville has  d and can and will run all day so the pats would have to stop that and their  having a hard time stoping the run..as for the skins i just want them out, gone , hopes crushed before they decide they can play with us. so i agree wack them like a weed...
