Jerry on the Normathon
(Excuse the rough nature of this diary, I'm writing in simultaneity with the interview)
Norm's conducting an interview with our beloved owner and GM as we speak. So far, he's divulged that
A: He plans to announce a big signing later on today, but did not name the player. I'm predicting Ken Hamlin.
B: He plans to concentrate on multiple positions in the draft, adress depth. While it could be damage control and people rarely let the media know of their draft strategies before the event, I guess that statement is worth something.
C: Witten is part of the interview as well... Jerry pledged $5K to the Austin Street Shelter on behalf of Jason's contributions to the team, citing that our Tight End had incredible leadership and a competitive streak.
D: Norm cited Witten's chemistry with Romo, both on and off the field. Witten said the two are linked; they supplement each other.
E: When he first bought the team, Jerry heard a lot of people say that it was a very risky investment and also realized that it was a lifelong commitment to the franchise. He considers it a great blessing to be part of the organization.

I'm assuming the big signing is
an extension of one of current players, somebody like Ware or Newman.

This could be the most important draft
in nearly two decades. Whatever we do, we gotta do it right.

Not even close
But yeah, It's important.
'89, '90, and '91 were all huge. More recently, 2003 and 2005 were terrific.

Speaking of the draft
Norm's just announced that his next segment will be all about the Cowboys' prospects there. Tune in to 1310, 104.1, or theticket.com/listen.htm

Hope the signing
Is either Canty, Barber, or Hamlin. My gut tells me Crayton won't want to sign until he sees what his market value is.

well...as been already reported..
The Cowboys were already in discussions with the agent for Patrick Crayton, one could only think it's him...although signing Hamlin right now would make good sense as well. Barber and Canty are two restricted free agents I'd like to sign right now as well, we need to get them off the market...Ware and Newman can wait, we aren't in jeopardy of losing either this upcoming year.

I'd also be happy to get Adams re-signed
as well. He's one of the best LT in the game and I don't think Free or McQuistan will be ready to play at his level by next year.

Probablly Hamlin
MB3 is under contract for another season.

I think...
...MB3 is a restricted free agent. Meaning a team that signs him would have to provide compensation.

sure is
that's why Jerry may not be in a rush to extend his contract.
Hamlin is a UFA so this would make sense before he hits the open market.

More on that signing
I was listening to the Ranch Report on DallasCowboys.com before. Norm told Mickey Jerry was going to extend one of the players contracts. He said the player number was between 5 and 86, but wouldn't give up any names. So that leaves Canty out. I'm assuming since it didn't happen today it will tomorrow. My guess is Hamlin.

my guess is
we resign keyshawn for the playoffs and he gets knocked the fcuk out running a crossing route right into t.o.
