Saturday open thread
Not much new happening so here’s a Saturday open thread.
There are three bowl games happening today.
1:00 PM Connecticut at Wake Forest
4:30 PM UCF at Mississippi State
8:00 PM Penn State at Texas A&M
I should be back at the computer for the Giants-Pats game and will open a new thread for that. If I don’t continue to use this thread.
Here are some Cowboy questions for the thread.
How long will Tony Romo play? I say one quarter unless he’s in the middle of a drive, then they’ll let him finish.
How will Terry Glenn perform if he plays? I say if the weather cooperates he plays the first half and catches 3 passes for 32 yards.
Will MB3 get 1,000 yards? Yes, Wade will play him and feed him the ball just enough to get the 1,000 then he’ll bench him.
Will Jason Witten reach 100 catches? No, they try to get him the completions early but the Cowboys pull him and he comes up short.
Will Romo get the seven completions he needs to set the single-season Cowboys record? Yes, when Romo is in they pass to Witten and Glenn constantly while JJ plays the RB position. When Brad Johnson comes in, so does MB3, they feed him the ball for his 1,000 yards and then JJ finishes the game with Tyson Thompson.
Your turn in the open thread.

I say they go long to Glenn at least once
Maybe even first play of the game?
(Yea, I'd love that)
I love that video
I know Barber would be a RFA, if he gets to free agency, but Jerry needs to get him signed before then.

The prediction for this game...
Since the skins are a good
running team and a good run stopping team (and Dallas stops the run well but can be shut down on the run) the expected weather will not open up the running game but close it down as both teams concentrate on this aspect. Rain may limit Terry Glenn but it doesn't have to limit Crayton, Hurd and Austin (maybe even Stanback). It may make it difficult to throw the long ball but the short and intermediate throws should be there all day.
If it rains, not sure playing Romo makes sense
I like your plan
In general, I like what you're suggesting - makes sense.
** How long will Tony Romo play? I say one quarter unless he’s in the middle of a drive, then they’ll let him finish. **
I wish they wouldn't play him at all, but I'm pretty sure you're right here.
** How will Terry Glenn perform if he plays? I say if the weather cooperates he plays the first half and catches 3 passes for 32 yards. **
Works for me. I think Glenn will look adequate, if rusty.
** Will MB3 get 1,000 yards? Yes, Wade will play him and feed him the ball just enough to get the 1,000 then he’ll bench him. **
I should hope Marion would get the 1000. That's only 4 carries or so.
** Will Jason Witten reach 100 catches? No, they try to get him the completions early but the Cowboys pull him and he comes up short. **
6 receptions is a lot, especially if he doesn't play the whole game. Can't see it happening, though I'd love to be wrong. How about throwing to him continually until he gets there, then yanking him?!
** Will Romo get the seven completions he needs to set the single-season Cowboys record? Yes, when Romo is in they pass to Witten and Glenn constantly while JJ plays the RB position. When Brad Johnson comes in, so does MB3, they feed him the ball for his 1,000 yards and then JJ finishes the game with Tyson Thompson. **
Again, I wish they wouldn't play Romo at all, but I'm sure he'll be in there for a quarter to a half. Assuming that's true, he's very likely to get 7 completions. That particular milestone is the one that seems the least significant to me. Tony already has the team record for most yards and TDs. Don't risk him more than you have to.

chances are he won't
more than a 50 percent chance of rain and sleet in the DC area. Romo and MB3 might see less time also.

Dallas has to win

Romo will play the first half
He gets the completion record, MB3 gets over 1,000 yards, Witten gets 100 catches, and Glenn plays awesome for a half.
Doesn't make much sense
I thought we were suppose to rest players or bench them from not having the opportunity to get hurt, yet we still want them to play some? Really?

Its a delicate balance
yes, you need to rest players to prevent injury, however, they also need to stay sharp because if they don't play for 3 weeks, they'll surely get rusty.
15 or so plays in the next 3 weeks
will surely keep them rusty...that's why, like the Pats and Giants, they need to play the entire game...

First play
Stanback lines up as a tailback, takes the handoff from Romo and bombs it to Glenn for a TD.
Whatever our starting line-up is, the 'Skins
are a nine point pick...at least in the Dallas Morning News. Of course this paper is filled with Cowboy-haters.
