exactly
I think something tipped the scales...I guess we will here some of the names that interviewed here now for that job....
they ahve a good D already and honestly have a similar situation in terms of QB...so do they get someone that can keep on tutoring rivers or go with a guy to continue to push that D....will be interesting.....
Woah!
It's not that I thought it would be impossible for him to get fired, it's just shocking that they would wait this long! I mean, they've lost at least 3 possible head coaches in the last few weeks.
So strange...I thought they had a good GM, but this makes me wonder.
I agree with you simbaa though, they have such a good team. I'm not saying this based only on record either, I really thought they had the most or second most talent of any team in the league. That should make it easier for them to get a good coach.
I wonder how this will affect the guy Wade wanted

AJ Smith is a serious turd
And blaming Marty for the assistant coaching defections is bogus. You mean to tell me that Smith couldn't have denied other teams to interview their assistants. To me, that's just an excuse to fire Schottenheimer.
OC - Cam Cameron now HC with Miami
DC - Wade Phillips now HC with Dallas
LB coach - Greg Manusky now DC with San Francisco
TE coach - Rob Chudzinski now DC with Cleveland
Heck, Smith could've just fired Marty after the season was over and hired Cameron or Phillips.
And when ol Wade was interviewing with King Jerry, they could've prevented the Niners from talking with Manusky.
You can't blame Schottenheimer for wanting his assistants to move upward in their careers, but as a GM, AJ could've vetoed Marty allowing this and not allowed other teams to converse with their assistants.
It'll be interesting to see what the Chargers do.
