It's official - Wade Phillips introduced as Cowboys coach
The press conference is going on, but the Cowboys website keeps crashing for me so some of you guys have probably heard more than I have.
In that spirit, this is an open thread for discussion of the press conference, or just general chat on the hiring. If Wade says anything interesting, be sure to post it.

Missed it
If I can get to the DC site, they should have it.
I'd like to see a lot of action with the staff over the next several days - I'm hoping folks like Singletary would still come in to play the role of D-Coordinator, Wade can't worry about holding someone's hand while he manages the big picture.
I guess I'm glad it's not Norv, he can get conservativ-itis at times, especially if he's scheming to save his job and not to win. The hiring of Wade probably leaves Garrett with the chance to be creative while still showing his smarts.

Too many lame sayings
"I'll do my best to carry the torch forward... or I should say carry the star."
"I'm like the frog that dreamed of being the king."
Also, he spent a lot of time defending Jerry's interview process. I thought that came off strange.
I hope he gets us over the hump. We'll see.

You really can't pay attention
A lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen in any given year, only part of which is who the head coach is.
A 48-42 record isn't stellar, but if the personnel and the talent is there, the wins will come.
Any Yankees fans remember the media's reaction to the hiring of Joe Torre back in 1996? Try not to let the columnists get you down...

I don't factor in
The ESPN guys are like any other media. Find controversy and overplay it, and where no controversy exists, hype something small on a popular team until it looks controversial. Why is Owens their favorite target instead of Roid-Dude Merriman, gangsta Sean Taylor, or head cases too numerous to list from the Bengals? It apparently sells.

I'll say this
I think our guys back there could've used more of a pass rush, so Phillips stunting will be welcomed by me. Plus, Bowles has hinted that he and Zim were restricted in what wrinkles they could implement, if he stays one maybe things change.
I'm looking forward to see how this works -- I think Phillips was the best choice.

Give him our back
I don't know enough about any of these guys to know who's "the best". BUt he seems pretty down to earth, actually in a Parcells way. I think he'll be a good fit.

The OFFICIAL Fan Site of America's Team
Because I agree with Lee and a lot of others that you get more in-depth, unsensationalistic Dallas Cowboys information here than in DMN, DFW, ESPN, SI, FOXSPORTS, CBSSPORTSLINE, USATODAY, MSNBC, THESPORTINGNEWS and PROFOOTBALLWEEKLY.
You do all of us Cowboy fans a great service, Grizz.
Props to you, Bro!!!
