Irvin gets another honor
Get elected to the Hall of Fame means you get to throw out the first pitch.
Michael Irvin, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this summer, will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Rangers' home opener Friday. Irvin will be the 20th in the series of "Texas Heroes" to throw out the first pitch.

Q: Has anyone of Greg Ellis' age and position come back from an Achilles' injury? It seems that his ability to apply pressure would be directly affected, no?
Tim Cowlishaw: I don't know of anyone specifically, but I think one thing that helps is that Ellis is a tall, lean player. I think a heavier set player would lose more explosion from having to deal with a repaired Achilles. Still, if I am Wade Phillips, I am not penciling in Ellis for 16 games at left outside linebacker. Another thing is that with Ware likely to be rushing on almost every play, there is less need to have the linebacker at Ellis' spot being a rush guy. So some of the others may fit in there in pass coverage.
Ellis is certainly a question mark heading into camp. It’s hard to imagine he’ll be 100% recovered from the injury so training camp will be a very important measure of how effective he can be. Good thing Bobby Carpenter is waiting in the wings.

By coincidence, I was discussing Tank Tyler in a previous post and now Rick Gosselin has a full article on him.

interesting question
in the Cowlishaw article regarding the Cowboys leadership.
nardo: Do you think that the Cowboys have a real leader on this team or do you think that's something that is missing? Please don't say Bradie James. He is more talk than action.
Tim Cowlishaw: That's a great question because we know who the leaders aren't. It's not Terrell Owens. It's not Roy Williams. DeMarcus Ware is too young. James, as you mention, is willing but not enough of a star player. So it may be left to Tony Romo to lead this team. A few wins and a hot start can have leaders coming out of the woodwork, but leadership is not overstocked in the Valley Ranch locker room as of right now.
No question in my mind this team becomes Tony's this season and for seasons to come.
