Spencer trade a bad move?

I saw this discussion elsewhere and thought you guys might find it interesting to kick around.

Spencer was generally regarded as a late first/early second round guy. So did Dallas mess up by giving up an extra 3rd and 5th to go up and get him?

Consider this...

If you look, no DE went between #26 and #36. Only one LB(since that basically is what Spencer will be) went in that time and it was Paul Posluszny, who is completely different than Spencer and will play a different LB slot. In fact, only 2 defensive players total went between those two picks. I believe 3 or maybe 4 3-4 teams, who would likely be the only ones interested in Spencer, picked between then all of which had greater needs than an OLB(One was the Chargers who are pretty set at OLB for instance). Only maybe Baltimore could have been a threat, who probably still would have taken Grubbs even if Spencer was there. Now, there's always the possibility that someone else could have traded up for Spencer, but the Cowboys would have likely had a chance to counter that offer which is likely to have been less than a 3rd and 5th.

So it's not too much of a stretch to see a scenario in which Dallas could have gotten Spencer at #36 and not given the Eagles extra 3rd and 5th round picks. A little food for thought.
