The game is scheduled to be shown

on NFL Network at 1:00 pm EDT Saturday.

My prediction is that we will have to throw the ball more to score here.

anyone know

why Brad Sham isnt doing the radio broadcast?

You find out life's this game of inches, so is football. Because in either game - life or football - the margin for error is so small.

Starting line up from the DMN blog

On D

Here's the defensive starters

Left defensive end-Marcus Spears
Nose guard-Jay Ratliff
Right defensive end-Stephen Bowen

If Bowen does well, he makes the team.

The linebackers are
Strong side-Anthony Spencer
Inside-Bobby Carpenter
Inside-Akin Ayodele
Weak side-Junior Glymph

It will be interesting to see how Carpenter plays tonight. Junior Glymph needs a strong game to make the squad. Spencer needs the work. He hasn't shown the team how good he can be yet.

The corners are Aaron Glenn and Jacques Reeves
The free safety is Patrick Watkins and the strong safety is Keith Davis.

Good for Mr. Reeves to get the start. Let's see how he performs. He's probably ahead of Joey Thomas and Nate Jones at corner.

ON O-

Left tackle-Flo Adams
Left guard-Joe Berger
Center-Cory Procter
Right guard-Leonard Davis
Right tackle-Marc Colombo

No surprises here. Adams and Colombo need the work and Davis has to develop chemistry with Colombo.

Wide receivers are Jerheme Urban and Miles Austin.
Whoever has the better game makes the team.

Tight end-Anthony Fasano
Fullback-Oliver Hoyte
Tailback-Tyson Thompson

Last chance for Hoyte to prove himself

Quarterback-Brad Johnson

Cowboys first defense series

A. Glenn jumps a route in the flat, gets the deflection, almost the INT

Junior Glymph stops the run after 3 yds

Vikings convert on 3/7 in front of Reeves

Underthrown pass INC

Reeves comes back on two passes in a row, knocking both balls down.

Punt, fielded at the 4 by J. Urban, TD

Yes

Thye are both young and talented and we are getting long in the tooth with TNT.

If we cut either, they will get snapped up. Let's keep them if we can and keep the youth.

by Philosopher on Aug 30, 2007 7:35 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

7 receivers is a lot

I feel like Austin will just edge out Urban

Burt-D

by Burt D on Aug 30, 2007 7:37 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

We need a punt returner

and Urban can do that. Tyson can do kick-offs now, so with Newman hobbled, and Urban returning punts, that might leave Austin out.

by Philosopher on Aug 30, 2007 7:41 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Austin is too good to cut

that would be a mistake

In Romo we Trust

by Terry on Aug 30, 2007 7:44 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Now keeping 7 WRs

means we have to cut a kicker....

...sorry Martin.

2nd OFF series

Incomplete pass thrown behind

TT picks thru middle for 4 yds

M. Austin catches two slants in a row, for 12 and 8

TT loses 2, O Line collapsed

Off Pass Interference (Fasano)

TT checkdown pass gets 11 yds, needed 14

by Incredifan on Aug 30, 2007 7:38 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Give the young man credit

He is going down with a fight.

I actually think he would be the better choice long term, but Urban can do punts and we need a punt returner.

Can a player on the practice squad beat out a 3rd String player during the year? (In other words, how can a player on practice squad move up to active roster) Or once on the practice squad is he kinda just stuck there unless someone is hurt?

I've got to admit I had hoped with a few of the line starters in there and TT that the running game would have shown more.  Either defenses are stacking the line or our run blocking needs some improvement.
