Sat and Sun at camp
Sat with Grizz and Shango today. It was nice because these guys know football, and they know the Cowboys.
A few impressions of the team this weekend:
- There are constant substitutions on defense, all the time. I'm hoping that this will keep everyone fresh so they can go all out.
- I expect a number of the players we cut will play on other teams this year. The talent level is high, and deep, at some positions.
- Anthony Henry is physical and smart. He abuses the young receivers.
- The first team O-line is much better than the rest.
- They are spending lots of practice time on special teams. Not sure if that's good or bad.
- Nick Folk is my choice at kicker. Both he and Grammatica are better than Vanderjack.
- Romo continues to impress.

Matt Moore thoughts?
Another web site says today that Matt Moore has nailed down the #3 QB spot. This site likes Moore better than Brad Johnson.

– Matt Moore has seized the lead in the 3rd QB sweepstakes. The UFA from Oregon State made some sharp deep throws today.
Moore produced the ‘06 acid flashback of the day when he zipped a deep seam pass to TE Adam Bergen. The defense has played almost no cover two this camp, but they did on this play and Bergen got inside Roy Williams.

Moore was my pet cat
after the draft and he hasn't disappointed so far, I would love to see him eventually get the back up spot.

Moore?
I'd say Moore has good potential, but he's not even close to ready yet. He just can't make the reads quick enough right now. But he looks good in drills. Definitely better than Bartel right now. Moore looks slow in 11v11 but Bartel looks lost.
Johnson is a solid #2; he knows the reads and has the experience and ability to get the ball out quick. There'll be no long bullets from his arm, although he can throw an accurate long ball over the receiver's shoulder.

You
are obviously a genius:
- Nick Folk is my choice at kicker.
Uh huh.

Defensive Substitutions
Opposing teams typically gameplan around D's that use situational substitution packages a lot, trying to catch defenses out of position or with too many men on the field. Indy and Philly do this extensively. Hope we have that factored into our gameplanning

But the flip side is
that those teams can't count on what they'll see from down to down. I think the team's predictability has been one of the most frustrating things for me to watch about this team for the last ten years.
