Stanback??

I might be missing something, but why aren't we playing him? why are we keeping him inactive? we need his return skills and we could use him as a WR........I'd want to see what the kid can do in the slot.....Crayton's finger is costing us.....a TO and a missed TD which resulted in another TO, I'd like to see Hurd(More Catches) and Stanback get an oppurtunity.....I think I'm missing something, don't understand with all the ranting and raving about this kid from the organization why they wont play him, when we need a WR and Return help.....

Stanback isn't a return man

he's too big to do that, thats a job for a shorter shifty, speedy guy. Stanback was drafted as a long term project at wide receiver, dont expect to see him on the field much, if at all, maybe towards the end of the year for some garbage time. What receiever are you going to leave off the active roster on game day to replace him with a green rookie in Stanback, the answer is no one.

How is Craytons finger costing us, he dropeed one pass for a TD, so that would leave him twenty behind T.O.on that list.

Actually, there were two more Crayton "errors"...

One on like the first or second drive of the game.

And the other that hit him in the hands, which he tipped for an easy Archuleta pic.

that int was on Romo

Crayton was fully extended and it barely hit his fingers, not a catchable ball, it was overthrown.

by Deke on Sep 24, 2007 11:36 AM CDT up reply actions

Do you guys really believe that

Crayton was at fault on the INT? From my view, that ball was high and had him reaching far to his right. It hit him on the top part of his right hand but it never even touched his left hand. Check it out on super-slo-mo Tivo. That's a very difficult catch, broken pinky or not. To me, it was just a throw that got away from Romo and the pic was an unfortunate bounce of the ball.

I didn't get a chance to slo-mo it

in real time I thought it hit hands and bounced up.

by dunkman on Sep 24, 2007 12:38 PM CDT up reply actions

that was my take as well

I don't know about super slow mo but NBC's slow motion had it hitting his hands.

My understanding if it hits the WRs hands, they should catch it.

I'd say Crayton catches that pass 90% of the time

It was high and fast, but he's made tougher grabs. He said his finger wasn't the problem, but he wasn't his usual self last night.

Maybe confidence

based on the finger, but I agree. A penguin could have caught that endzone pass.

Those penguins

on Madagascar could've caught it. Those dudes were bad!

Would you say your finger was a problem?

Crayton wants to play and you can't blame him.  Would you say your finger was a problem and risk being held out of the game?  Give me Crayton at 80% over Austin.

The Red Ball Express will be rolling this year!

by BulletBob on Sep 24, 2007 3:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Agree

I'm a big Crayton fan, he's tough and more talented than he gets credit for.

give it time

He's still learning. If he was the best man for the job, he'd be in there. Trust the organization, they know what they're doing. He'll see time, I promise.

Just a theory

but I think he might start suiting out once Newman is back full-time. It could be the case that one of our DBs gets relegated to practice squat duties after T-new is back full time and we don't have to worry about depth there. I'd like to see him out there getting some PT, but I think we are doing pretty well without him. Give him time to develop and he could become something great, but throwing him into the fire too soon could hurt the team, and probably slow his development.

Not a bad theory Groves

and he would seem to me to be a perfect sub for Crayton (hands, toughness, quickness, smarts), whose confidence or confidence is apparently suffering after the finger injury.

by dunkman on Sep 24, 2007 11:01 AM CDT up reply actions

Oops

I meant confidence or concentration. But it could be a double confidence problem I suppose...

by dunkman on Sep 24, 2007 11:02 AM CDT up reply actions

He barely knew the basics of the WR position

coming into TC, I doubt he'll see time at all this year.  This is the year for him to learn.

Agree

I don't think we'll see him until later in the season if at all. Cratyon, Hurd and Miles are still ahead of him and Glenn may come back at some point.

i guess

i just didnt realize how far down the depth chart he was.......obviously it's a learning year for him, but i thought he'd still be getting PT.....

Stanback will eventually become our go to guy

after T.O. retires, but for once, Deke is right, Stanback will sit and learn the wr position for a few years, however, given his enormous physical talents, he'll become Romo's best friend in years to come.
