Cowboys and Rams article links
I guess the big news is the possibility that Greg Ellis might return to the field, perhaps even this weekend. I doubt that will happen, but we might see him soon. Here’s an article on it.
All the injuries are covered here, beyond Greg Ellis. Basically, Bobby Carpenter has a quad strain and sat out practice today, Oliver Hoyte was limited in practice and Terence Newman resumed work with the nickel team. Courtney Brown left with an arm injury and will be evaluated, Keith Davis has a shoulder injury that is likely to sideline him this week.
DeMarcus Ware gets some coverage here.
Terrell Owens in his own words.
"I do feel like a Cowboy," T.O. said. "At this point in time, I definitely would like to retire here and go into the Hall of Fame as a Cowboy. It’s a lot of fun right now."
T.O. said he could see himself playing for another three to five seasons.
Tomorrow I'll have a review of the Rams, but here are some links to get you started.

I'd love to see
Ellis back on the field, but the real question is: How long will they be without Brown and Carpenter??
Issac Bruce
He'll join the rest in the L column...
Week 1: Brandon Jacobs - Lost and injured
Week 2: Joey Porter - Lost, run over by the Barbarian and left dejected on the bench
Week 3: Devon Hester - Lost and made to look sub-ordinary (but at least they got a new QB out of the deal)
Week 4: Issac Bruce - ???
It's safe to say that in addition to our regular weapons we have another one...our opponents big mouths. Thanks Issac.
Spencer starting to play well
And now Ellis is finally coming back (maybe). After Spencers performance Sunday I'm wondering if limiting his gaining experience is a good thing. Ellis was incredible in his transition to linebacker, but how good is he going to be this year vs how good Spencer will be?

It has been good for Spencer
but Ellis has such great technique that having him out there will immeidately upgrade the pass rush and make Ware that much more dangerous. Plus, they'll be able to run some packages with Ellis, Ware, Hatcher and Spencer on the field at the same time.
I could see T.O. playing another 3 years
Jerry would have to pony up some dough, but T.O. is one of those freakish athletes that could still be very explosive into his mid to late 30s like Jerry Rice was.
Since he and Romo have an awesome relationship both on and off the field, I feel it would be in the teams best interests to re-sign him after next season.
quote of the day
Tony Romo being Tony Romo, he had to crack wise when asked to explain his uncanny ability to dodge defenders and make plays downfield.
"I mean, it's obvious I'm a premier athlete in this league," said Romo, who delivered the line with a straight face but punctuated it with his trademark devilish grin.
That's crap
since when can you trademark the devilish grin?? I guess I need to start working on my impish grin.
T.O.
..already has a trademark on the impish grin.

Then what would you call
The Eli Manning face?
A smirk? Or just the "younger brother, used to getting my ass kicked" look of a loser.
I would call it the..
"why am I in this commercial with my family and Matt Leinart and I don't even get one line to speak" face.

NFL website matchup
According to the nfl.com site one of the more ntriguing matchups will be the Rams D vs the Boys O. I have read that the Rams D is ranked 7th against the pass; but this is because teams that have faced them can run the ball all day. I am just suprised how the "experts" are ignorant of facts and just gloss over the games.
I agree
that they should be able to take advantage of the Rams' issues, but I'm glad the media is talking up the difficulties. I'd hate for Fox to pull the game off the national stage. Plus, if helps the team focus, more power to them.
My real worry is the match-up of Rams' WRs vs Cowboys DBs, especially if Ferrotte starts. I know their line is beaten up, but anything could happen.
I think the perfect gameplan would be
to use our massive line to pound the ball right down their throats all day with JJ and MB3 since they have a smallish defense, and then kill them on play action for some quick TDs.
This will keep their WRs and our CBs off the field and our pressure players fresh.
Only one 0-4 team has ever made the playoffs...
the '92 Chargers and they had to go 11-1 the rest of the season to do it. Rams are in a deep hole and I really hope that our coaches can not only prepare the team from an X's & O's standpoint but also for that fact that they'll be facing a team that's literally playing for its season...this early in the season.
I gotta say
I was extremely impressed with T.O.'s comments in the Spags article...I'm usually VERY skeptical towards T.O., as I'm always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I think Grizz is right, aliens have taken over that man's body, or at least his mind. He said all the right things, and more importantly seems to be doing all the right things.
Buuuuut, we're 3-0, so it's easy to be all-smiles now. But this guy, dare I say, has seemed to change a little...
T.O.
It seems to me that T.O. is saying "we" and "team" more than he used to. Not so many "I" s as there used to be. He's not completely there yet, but I think he is actually changing for the better.
However, as someone on this blog said, it's easy when you are 3-0.
My thoughts, I just don't know yet if he has "turned the corner". I think he is turning it.
Hell of a receiver now though.
One of things that has to be going on
is Owens contemplating the end of career. If he retired today, his legacy would be "Talented but troubled receiver", "Could have achieved more but became a disruptive player", "Selfish and immature". His mention of the HOF is telling. He's facing his football mortality and I think he wants to chart a new direction for a career that has drifted off course.
He's thinking about other things than just money
That's a good sign. I think he feels appreciated. Hopefully we won't have to break the bank to keep him. If we can fit in a couple more big time players within the budget then look out New England.
thats always really been the key with T.O.
This guy needs affirmation that he is needed and the feeling that he is respected and appreciated. His pysche is very fragile and the coaching staff and players just need to know how to treat him.
Obviously SF and Philly weren't intelligent enough to figure this out, but Jerry is, and he along with the current staff and guys like Romo, are doing every right in handling T.O. and his fragile pysche.
To be fair
I think Reid handled him well in Philly until he was forced to choose between two huge egos - Owens or McNabb. Bad position to be in. What is different here is that Romo, Garrett and Phillips don't have that deep-seated need to have their egos stroked like McNabb does, so there's no competition for attention.
thats true
you're probably not going to come across a more easy going, laid back personality than Romo's.
