wade phillips

lets see how he adjusts during the half

1st half defense was pretty sad

by bkcowboy on Sep 9, 2007 8:55 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

No real improvement

over last year's team. No pass rush and no secondary.

It is just depressing because I watched two premier defenses play this afternoon: Chicago and San Diego. I realize now we aren't even in the same universe as those two teams. We have so far to go.

by Philosopher on Sep 9, 2007 8:57 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

I totally agree

We play the bears in two weeks, that very well could be a very very ugly game for us

by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Not quite ...

Unless I'm mistaken (and I'm not), their QB is still Rex Grossman. I'm not worried.

I agree that our defense does not compare to

SD or the Bears right now, but the Bears offense is still no prize.

No Newman

makes a big difference. I think Wade is limited because of Newman not being in there. We can be as good

by Cowboys81 on Sep 9, 2007 9:01 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

Again, I'll say it ...

Look for T.O. to be targeted early and often next half. I bet he's pissed.

I went to get some milk on the break . . .

And there were pictures of TO, Spears, Canty, Spencer and other various Cowboys on the carton!  That was weird.. . .

let them take TO out of the game and keep going

to Witten for all I care.  I would rather see sustained drives with this defense.  The only problem with that is  that TO will start to whine and be "distracting".

Blitzing

We have to be the worst blitzing team ever...our blitz never gets there. I'm amazed that we can't blitz and get to the QB

I loved the balance on that drive with Red Ball calling more effective run plays to set up the pass.

I am sorry - as much as I would like

to root for Roy - I CAN'T.

I agree that he should come out in passing situations.  I've seen it too often the last 3 years.  Hes a good guy and great against the run.  Use his strengths then hide his weaknesses - get him off the field!!!!!

Eh

I'm a big fan of Roy still, and always will. He may not  be the best coverage safety, but strong safeties get lit up all the time. And what he does do well, he does very well. He'll still get my pro bowl vote. And I'm still wearing his jersey right now.

Let him who hath understanding Reckon the number of the beast For it is a human number, it's number is 31.

one more gripe.......

we run Julius early to save Barber for the second half - except we hardly play him in the 2nd half - unbelievable.

This kind of win makes you feel a little hollow.

Julius played ok and so did Barber

Together they are better than most teams.

were you watching. JJ played sub par and Barber was very good.

in week 8 of the 2000 season against Arizona. Dallas 48, Arizona 7. I LOVE me some Red Ball!

How ironic...

is it that Madden is calling this game, because I swear this reminds me of a Madden '08 match I played a few weeks ago.

All TD's, no D whatsoever.  :-)

Only I was actually throwing to TO.

rare you see a team put up 45 pts without a ST or defensive score.

weird win but i will take it.

I'm not really worried too much about our D, we're going to score a bunch of points this season.

How can you say that Terry.

You know that defense wins titles.  Thats an assinine comment.  I don't want to turn into a team that has to score 30+ points a game.

I hope it is - but the colts won when their

D showed up in the playoffs.  I think we will be OK once we get healthy - but don't say that we shouldn't worry about the D because our offense will carry us.  Worry - hope it will get better - and hope we can win because we are performing all the way around.

im not worried about anything......we coulda scored 50 tonight and Newman is injured, which doesnt allow Wade to do what he usually does.....we knew that before the game started......how is anybody surprised?????

The Giants

had a really good offense - until we knocked Jacobs and Manning out of the game.

by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 10:49 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

knocking Jacobs out of the game did not do a

stinking thing.  Their no-name backup torched us for 89.

Make that...

just Manning - IIRC they kept coming even when Jacobs went out.

by Pete on Sep 9, 2007 10:51 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Do you think Lorenzen

would be the runner at the end needing only 3 yards if Jacobs had been in?

by lee3022 on Sep 9, 2007 10:54 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

OK Lee - your right. Our defense was great after

Jacobs went out.  Keep on believing that and make your hypothetical arguments.

There is also the issue of

losing Fergi in the middle. Kind of opened things up a bit for the Giants. No where have I said our defense was great. It was good enough to win this game and must get better to win any more.

Defense played pretty awful tonight....

The defense was terrible... If we can score 45 points in every game, we might have a chance -- but if the D doesn't tighten up, we're going to lose a lot more often than we'll win.

We're gonna be o.k.!

Offense looked good... Romo was awesome.... D will be better when we get Newman and Ellis back next week.  Looks like we can live without Terry Glenn.  We'll see!

by youthguru on Sep 9, 2007 10:57 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

Ellis wont be back next week

and Newman wont be healthy this year with that injury, it will be irrated very week and he shouldn't even play next week. What about Ferguson with an elbow injury that didn't look to good.

by Deke on Sep 9, 2007 11:00 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think you are right -

now the question is.... do we sit Henry out and start Reeves opposite Newman.  It would be a good opponent to get some game time with.

I do believe that we will be better based on having those guys back.  Spencer got better as the night went on too.
