Cowboys Best in League

Per Scouts, Inc.

Take this with a grain of salt, but Scouts, Inc. has evaluated the Cowboys as the best playoff team (by a nose).

Star-divide

Scouts, Inc. has broken down the playoff field at various key positions, essentially corps by corps. Their method ranked players at individual positions, from 1 (best) to 12 (worst). Then they added the scores to determine each unit's rankings. Follow the links for position by position analysis and complete rankings.

Offensively, my Boys are ranked one point behind the Pats and Colts, who are tied for first, with a rating of 11. Our offensive rating (12) is followed by the Bolts at 21 (the nearest competition). The Pack is rated 26, Gints 31, Raljon Racists 35, and Bucs 38. By their reckoning, we have the fourth best quarterback, third best backs and receivers, and second best offensive line.

Defensively, my Boys are tied with Green Bay for the top spot in the ratings at 12. San Diego is close behind at 13, with New England at 14. The Seahawks are the next team in our bracket at 18, with the Bucs (24), Gints (25), and Foreskins (30) rounding out the field. We have the top linebacking corps, fifth best defensive line, and sixth best secondary.

If you follow their ratings to their possibly-logical conclusion, your Dallas Cowboys have the best aggregate score in their ranking system (24), followed closely by the Pats at 25, then the Colts at 29. The Pack is our closest competition in the senior conference at 38. Of course, Scouts, Inc. and ESPN didn't rank the field with an aggregate score, but that's not stopping me from posting about it here.

I don't see

How our defense could possibly be ranked #1 out of all the playoff teams.Thats a joke! R williams,j reeves, anthony henry...ALL need to be replaced and are liabilities that every def coordinater we face will be focusing on. I do think we have one of the better front 7's in the league with lots of depth. But c'mon theres no way or secondary could possibly be considered the best of anything! Colt brennan and hawaii would torch these guys(given time)

Maybe you should read the article

Our secondary isn't ranked #1. They broke it down by position, and I think they're right. Scouts Inc did a pretty good job of evaluating the teams this time, and our secondary was ranked #6.

I do agree about Brennan though

That kid is going to be special, and without Newman I bet he'd do some nasty stuff to our D. :-)

Hawaii did not look so hot today

With their offensive line I question whether they could win against any secondary. Brennan looked lost against a good defense (imagine what Southern Cal would have done to them today!

georgia has better DB's

Than we do!
HaHa!
Hawaii did look pretty bad today, but in brennens defense he had no time to pass.

thats still a little high
for our secondary.I don't need an article to tell me how pourous our pass defense is. I've seen it up close and personal all year long. The redskins owned our secondary BOTH games this year.Hell even the lions ran it up and down the field against us all day long. The panthers QB moore,a lowly rookie, looked like an all pro most of the day against us. And these aren't just good passes against tight coverage, most of the times the wideouts are w i d e o p e n .....

Bottom line...if our front seven does not pressure the QB...we are a below average defense. Most of our wins this year came from outscoring opponents, not stellar defense. opponents got behind early and were forced to play catch up ball. Our offense was our best defense for most of the year. Big shocker that when our offense struggled(2nd half green bay-until the end of the regular season) that the team struggled as well.

JUst my opinion, but I don't see our fefense as anything above average.

You have to remember

That both of our starting CBs have been playing with injuries all year. I don't think either of them have been healthy at the same time all season. Not making excuses, I just don't think we've played at the level we're capable of. I think #6 is pretty close, though I would think that Pitt would have been ranked higher than us.

OK...I actually read the article

and I think its mostly on target.I guess i'm just down on our db's right now,as they haven't really played well in the last month, and I see them as our achilles heel.
I think our DL should have been ranked a little higher than it was, especially when you take our rotation into account.
But overall it was a good article and pretty much spot on in their rankings.

there's no way Roethlisberger should be ranked

higher than Romo, thats complete BS. Romo is 10 times the playmaker Big Ben is, not to mention a much better pocket passer.

In Romo we Trust

One comment that I caught
"SS Roy Williams is a liability in coverage but is a killer against the run and should stay near the line of scrimmage."

Killer against the run? What? Are they kidding? How do they, being paid to do this for a living, not see what the some BTB readers, watching only the Fox Sports feed from their couch, can obviously see. Roy completely sucks! Everyone - except for those that actually watch game tape - can see that!
