Larry Allen hanging it up?
NFL Network saying that Mr. Larry Allen is set to retire.
I must say... Larry Allen is one of my favorite players. The best non-Jimmy Johnson draft pick that Jerry ever made, I honestly think Allen is one of the best offensive lineman of all-time. The man made seamless transitions from guard to tackle and back to guard, all the while continuing to perform at an All-Pro level and racking up Pro Bowl appearances.
Too bad he couldn't play his entire career in Dallas, but one of the all-time greats all the same.

Maybe
He can sign one of those meaningful yet meaningless contracts that will allow him to retire as a Cowboy.

all time greatest OL of all time
I don't think its even close. He completing dominated every DL he ever faced and was the strongest man to ever step on a football field. There was strong and then there was L.A. strong.
Will look forward to him being inducted into the HOF in 2013, especially his induction speech since he was always a man of very few words.

A true legend
It's unfortunate that he had to depart late in his career. A great player and study in human strength. :P
It's amazing how he used to dominate people back in the day. Try to imagine Leonard Davis, then add brawn.

LA
not only Davis with more brawn, but also more speed, because LA could be the pulling guard or tackle on sweeps

Yes, I used to love seeing LBs & DBs eyes...
...which read, "oh sh__" whenever LA would lead on a sweep to his side. I would always laugh at the replays.
I thought Larry Allen was one of the all time best... defintely HOF material.

I still remember....
...The Thanksgiving game against the Packers when LA was just a rook filling in for the injured Erik Williams at RT and Reggie White, with a cast on one hand, was just abusing LA all day. Who would have known at that time LA would become one of the best ever to play the game.
Maybe there is still hope for Rob Pettiti? =)

He would
put fear into opposing linemen. I think I remember talk of some DT's coming up with mysterious injuries right before having to play against LA.
Last draft was the year of tackle, maybe this year will be the year of the Guard since these guys take time to develop and be had later in the draft.
