Why Dave Campo and not, say Ray Rhodes?
I'll preface this by saying that I don't Campo's ability as a DB coach.
However the part I don't like is that Wade didn't get to hire a DB coach familiar in the 3-4. This is a Jerry-hire, and I don't like the fact he is doing the hiring (like he did with Houck over Solari).
I am also wondering why we didnt inquire about Ray Rhodes. He is a native Texan. Has been successful everywhere he has been and I am sure he would light a fire in Roy Williams arse.

I mean the guy signed on to be an assistant DB coach in Houston.

No opinion on Ray Rhodes
But coaching the secondary in a 4-3 or 3-4 is really no different. Only the front seven are affected by the differences in the two defenses.
I hope Wade had input....selecting his coach
I would say Ray Rhodes has better experience..

Jerry Gray would have been my choice.....
Not that it really matters, but Jerry Gray is also from Texas. Jerry Gray also played DB in the league and might relates to the players well.
Jerry Gray helped develop Antoine Winfield and Nate Clements in Buffalo and I was very impressed with the play of Shawn Springs, Sean Taylor, Carlos Rodgers, LaRon Landry and even Freddy Smoot during Gray's stop in Washington. The Redskins have been one of the worst pass rushing teams in the league over the last two seasons, and the Skins secondary held their own.
Is anyone else concerned with having too many former DC's on our staff? I hope it's a non-issue, and everyone buys into Wade's philosophy, but I'm a little fearful that we have too many guys wanting to devise game plans and not enough guys coaching their position players.

why does everyone think this is Jones' hire?
Just because Campo was a previous coach doesn't mean Jones is hiring Campo without Phillips input or say into the matter. I read in the DMN that Phillips was the person who interviewed Campo and Jones wasn't involved in the interview process at all.
If Campo is hired it will because Phillips wants him, not Jones.
I agree
My take has been that Jerry told Wade that "Hey, I have a guy you should talk to about the secondary coach."
I think the fact that Jerry picked Wade over Norm last year shows that he's willing to talk to anybody, but he'll only hire who fits. I think Wade has the final decision on this one.
