Sharp as a whistle...
Let me preface this by saying: I love Emmitt Smith. He's everything I would like America to be: a winner, classy, a good teammate, emotional, stand-up kind of champion. A true rolemodel. Trick Daddy may love the kids, but like ODB, Emmitt is "for the children."
I've got several of his jerseys. He was the engine that pushed the '90s dynasty. He was tough. He could be mean. He was competitive. He was clutch (**cough** Tony Romo **cough**...I'm joking, Terry. Lol.) He wasn't a headache Monday through Saturday but he was a headache on Sundays.
That being said, and you might be able to see where I'm going with this post because of the effusive praise I'm giving Emmitt, he's an absolutely, terrible, no-good, rotten, awful announcer, broadcaster, TV personality, etc.
I mean, he's really, really, really bad. Worse than Magic Johnson's talk show bad.
Apparently, Jimmy Kimmel and, obstensibly, the DMN Blog, has picked up on this. The clip is pretty hilarious. It just highlights what Emmitt's strengths are.
Dancing? Check. Sharp dresser? Check. Speaking coherently on camera? Not so much.

Way to go ESPN
they got rid of Michael Irvin during his hall of fame year and replaced him with this. Probably the worst announcer I've ever seen.
Emmitt did so much for us and he was a hero. You can only hope he finds another line of work....
Truly
It's torture to watch Emmitt do analysis. Please, someone make it stop.
I posted a diary about this....
On December 11th 2007...Over 86% of responding Cowboys fans responding to a poll on his skills, felt he was terrible.
Nearly two months later and we can see now that over 86% of the ESPN's national audience would more than likely agree that Emmitt sucks when it comes to being an on air analyst..
I doubt seriously ESPN would bring him back for next season....I always look at Chris Berman whenever Emmitt is talking....I could just see him gringe and say to himself -Why didn't anybody properly interview and test this clown before hiring him ? ..I didn't really get to see him on NFL Network, supposedly worked there before switching over to ESPN.....but I doubt NFL Network was sobbing when they decided to let Emmitt go...I could only imagine that the network had no intentions of bring him back...man...he's embarrassing.

If you watch Tom Jackson closely when...
Emmitt is doing his so-called "analysis" he has a real subtle head-shake and eye-roll going on. I keep thinking to myself, Emmitt has gotta be reading this from a tele-prompter that someone else wrote for him, but then how could he actually screw something like that up as bad as he has?
I guess is was nice that ESPN showed enough respect for him that they let him finish out the season. In football Emmitt had a chance to choose when it was his time, but that's probably not going to be the case for pre-game analysis.

emmitt hasn't..
looked this good since he went flying into the dallas defence smacked into roy williams and then came flying back out onto his ass with a broken shoulder..he should have stayed a cardinal..
man, I can't believe you guys are bashing
the greatest RB and one of the greatest Cowboys of all time. Maybe he isn't the most articulate analyst, but he knows what he's talking about and I think the substance of his analysis is very good, he just doesn't speak that well.
But he's Emmitt guys, without him, there are no 5 SB titles, only 2, there is no dynasty and greatest team of all time.
I enjoy listening to him because he's just the best to ever tote the rock on a football field, thats good enough for me.
Emmitt has to go
He was a great running back, a hall of famer, but he is absolutely brutal on the ESPN pregame show, I gringe everytime he speaks. They cant bring him back next year.
Howard Cossell is spinning in his grave.
Marcellus Wiley and Shaun King...
Why ESPN hasn't put these two on the Monday Night/NFL Sunday Countdown crew is beyond me... They are MILES ahead of the crap they trot out there week in and week out.
Jaws, Wiley, and King are the only analysts ESPN has that knows their head from their ass...
Emmitt Spoof
