Tank Johnson on SIRIUS radio 10/10
Bruce Murray had Tank Johnson on the "Moving the Chains" program today for a couple minutes.
There was the obligatory Pacman talk, but what interested me was Murray's question about the Dallas Defense, and whether anyone on the squad is happy with how they're playing.
I am not sure I liked Tank's answers. They're paraphrased below, not direct quotes, so take with a grain of salt.
1. This team is 4-1. So we must be playing pretty well. (Wonder where he's heard that line of reasoning before...)
2. Every team in the league plays us like it's their Superbowl, they give it their best shot, and really get up for us in a different manner than they get up for other teams. So, for instance, with Cincy, the fact that it was a desperation game for them, and they really gave it everything they had...and we still beat them...that means we're doing pretty good.
3. People want us to throw one knock-out punch at the beginning of the game and see the other team flat on it's back for the rest of the 60 minutes, or else we're not playing well. But they're all pros, too. They all get paid, too. The bar has been set too high, the expectations placed on us are not realistic.
Also, he said other stuff that I liked better. In answer to the question, tell me about the Redskins game:
1. That game was good for us, in that we learned a lot of things.
2. We are fully up-to-speed, now, on the fact that we can't let up on anyone, or think that we're going to have an easy Sunday.

interesting
Tank always ultra-positive, so I don’t expect him to be guy that comes out says we are not playing to our potential. I do completely agree though that every team gets up for us like it is a playoff game..
It’s time for Spencer and Ellis to bring their A Game!!
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
I like his answers
Maybe the expectations are too high.
I especially like that the other team are all pros, too. It’s true.
What bothers me about that answer
Is that it could be used in any situation in which you personally get beat by the guy in front of you.
It’s not that I failed in my assignment; it’s that the other guy is real good, too.
I confess that I do want our guys to consistently win the battle with the man in front of them.
Tank is absolutely correct
This is the NFL and teams get paid to play, the Cowboys aren’t playing college kids.
He is also right about every team they face that the Cowboys are that team’s Super Bowl, they play with extra motivation to beat us. Thats the price you pay for being the best.
In Romo we Trust
i agree with tank..
i mean what if were just not that good that we can blow everyone out…hell we might not be the best team in our own division…..but i still love um…
I don't need a compass to know which way the wind shines....
