Terence Newman has surgery; out one month

Well, it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Cornerback Terence Newman will miss a month of playing time, but at least it wasn't a full-blown sports hernia. That could have cost him up to two months. From the DMN blog

Cowboys cornerback Terence Newman had surgery today on his groin and will be out at least a month. Doctors thought Newman would be out six-to-eight weeks, but discovered his groin muscle wasn't as badly damaged.

Hat tip to silverblue5 for first posting this news

Are you guys Pac'ed out? Yup, I'm tired of the whole Pacman mess this week. But, there is a little more news, so I have to post it.

NFL officials said Friday they will not complete their investigation into an incident involving Jones until next week.

We'll find out then. Until that time, I'd advise Jerry Jones to keep his mouth shut on the incident, or he'll say stuff like this.

"I almost feel like I'm an enabler," Jerry Jones said. "Because it's the very people that I have with him that created this. Had we not had that security with him, this wouldn't have happened. Really. Had we not had the security with him, it wouldn't have happened."

Just stop, please.

If you haven't had your fill, you can get more details here and here

Anquan Boldin is definitely out for Sunday.

well newman

will be out until their game with the skins. Newman will have about 5 weeks due to the bye week. It will be a challenge to face the gints without him and pacman if he gets suspended.

I guess the way I look at this is

the team was without Newman or Henry for several wins last season and the rooks are better than what was available as replacements then, so maybe it’ll work out OK.

You can probably add 1 or 2 games to that

I will be really surprised if he can make it back for the Skins game. Even if he can, what kind of football shape will he be in? It will take another two or three games even after for him to return to normal. I wouldn’t expect him to be 100 percent until December which means we will have to ride most of the season with Pacman, Jenkins, Scandrick and Henry. Hopefully Pacman is in the equation. If not, were screwed!

I'm glad Newman's out.

This just hasn’t been his year. Better to get him back healthier later in the year—that way Jenkins and Scandrick get some much needed playtime right now.

Really, I’d much rather have either of those hungry-to-play guys on the field rather than an apprehensive vet.

That #38 sure should wrap up!

I want to see more Jenkins

I think the more he plays the more he will be the cocky aggressive dude we saw a South Florida.

at least he's not on IR

as some others predicted would happen. The good news is that he should be ready to go down the stretch run into the playoffs.

T-New, shutting down WR's for Dallas since 2003

Might as well

by the time he gets back off injury and in football shape it will near the end of the season. So basically, Newman for all the money we just gave him didn’t help this team this season. Let’s hope we can skate to the playoffs without him.

Guess you are counting on not making the playoffs. Way to be optimistic.

Plus we still have our ace CB Alan Ball (is he still on the team?) LOL

Football layers get hurt.

If he’s back December one, it will be huge. He deserved every bit of money he got. He did not miss a single start the first 4 years of his career.

Do you think the Patriots think Tom Brady is a waste of money?

In Newman's defense

MAybe just maybe this had something to do with his awful coverage against Washington. Sports hernias and groin probs are very debillitating.

I'm sure it did

in fact I think he said as much

I think so too

these guys don’t issue excuses to the media, so we may never know, but that is a reasonable assumption based on his play.
