I really thought

the Cowboys would come up fired up for this game after their last 2 performances. They look flat.

Geaux Cowboys!

by dlthibo on Oct 12, 2008 4:44 PM CDT reply actions

I'd say the O-Line looks flat

rest of the O is playing OK, and the D is playing great

by strobman on Oct 12, 2008 4:45 PM CDT up reply actions

Clearly the OL has played awful so far, But

Romo deserves his fair share of the blame for just standing back there and not stepping up in the pocket and/or getting rid of the football

by SaltyDawg on Oct 12, 2008 4:46 PM CDT reply actions

Again I ask

When is the last time we saw Romo rollout on a scramble? We’ve done it a couple of times on designed plays, but Romo seems so intent on keeping his footwork clean and standing tall in the pocket that he’s lost his creativity.

by WB3forMB3 on Oct 12, 2008 4:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Poor half

I agree that we’ve gotta be happy with a tie after all the poor play that has happened. What I’m not happy about is that this team doesn’t seem to be performing as well as we know they can thus far this season. Unpopular opinion, I know, but I worry about what Mike Ditka said today about needing vocal team-first guys in the locker room to fight through this stuff. We don’t have many vocal leaders.

by some_weird_kid on Oct 12, 2008 4:47 PM CDT reply actions

BUT the D has shown up big!

the Cards have 75 total yards and no offensive points. give them their props.

by scottmaui on Oct 12, 2008 4:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Good point

I agree wholeheartedly on this. After the kickoff return and the 3 and out, they showed Ellis and Ware on the sideline looking earnest and determined. They’ve come out and done their job 100%

by some_weird_kid on Oct 12, 2008 4:50 PM CDT up reply actions

SWK... you could not be more wrong

this team is STOCKED WITH VOCAL LEADERS

You can say all you want about the OLine not giving Romo time, the receivers not getting separation, Romo not responding… the special teams…

But, it’s tied going into the half. Unless you see guys not trying, don’t blame leadership.

Tar Heels football will surprise this year

by DalaiLuke on Oct 12, 2008 4:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Trust me, I'm no pessimist

I agree with all the negatives in the game, and I agree that there are a lot of character guys on the team, but Witten and Barber don’t say much and lead by example. Romo plays hard and practices hard, but doesn’t get on other guys when they mess up. TO is a great vocal leader, but when he gets discouraged, that doesn’t show as much. Tank Johnson is the only real vocal leader that I can think of.

by some_weird_kid on Oct 12, 2008 4:52 PM CDT up reply actions

Let's examine the Romo dude...

What is going on? I contend that most of the problems stem from the offensive line play. He his getting pressured from every direction and isn’t scambling like he used to do. He isn’t stepping into his throws because theirs guys in his face and yet he is holding onto the ball too long waiting for someone to come open.

The Cowboys need to turn into a 1-2—3 Throw!!! Type of offense. The defense will not back off blitzes or stacking against the run until the Cowboys start making them pay for it.

by Brandon Worley on Oct 12, 2008 4:48 PM CDT reply actions

we need a mix of quick hitting and slower developing plays

by Scoobay on Oct 12, 2008 4:49 PM CDT up reply actions

Hey our O played like crap and were tied 7-7. I will take it.

I just want to see this D play like this the rest of the year.

by houseofprime on Oct 12, 2008 4:49 PM CDT reply actions

Hey guys

Well, I guess given the way we played, 7-7 is a good thing. Unfortunately, if we were playing a really good team, we’d be down 24-7 right now.

I don’t get it. We have too much talent to be playing like this so it must be the coaching. My biggest hope is that the leaders in the locker room realize that if they don’t make some noise in the playoffs this year, they may not get many more chances to time to nut up!!
