It's time we admitted it... the O-line is killing us
There were enough mistakes to go around today. Special teams weren't all that special. The defense took winning situations and snatched defeat out of the jaws of victory. J-W dropped first down passes. Stewart forgetting to blitz on the Cards 2nd and 15 from the 10 yard line is now the biggest choke joke. And the dude who blockes for punts is dead to me. But in the end... the O-line was exposed for the third straight week.
Flo is making me regret the wasted O-line drafts for the past three years and his re-signing this year. His new nickname in my house is now and siempre "El Matador". Every week the coaching staff has seemed to fix the gaffs fromt he week prior, but Houck has his work cut out for him. And if they don't fix it, say good bye to the Cowboys for another season.

Don't be so quick to blame Flo
Apparently he couldn’t lift his arms above his shoulders. He had a shoulder stinger.
Blame the coaches for leaving him in.

If he was hurt, I missed it
but he had something to do with each fumble. On the first, he seemed to accidentally strip it out.

+1
Blame the whole OL because they all looked like crap today. I never thought Kosier being out would affect this team the way it has.

I admit nothing
This line, when healthy, is still among the best in the NFL.
What IS killing this team is the continuously pathetic Special Teams play.
Dallas must be worst team in the NFL at KO coverage, and probably worst by now in punt returns (with a guy who has 3 or 4 returns for TD’s in 2 seasons)
Today we got to see a new wrinkle, the inability to block for a punt attempt resulting in an overtime loss and an injured punter.
You’re doing a heck of a job, Brucie!

Well health or not, they played badly today
And it is possible to have bad O-line play AND crappy special teams play. We saw it last night.

They didn't play well against the Cards
But I disagree that the O-line has been a root cause of problems during the course of the year.

Not completely, but partially
They were great against Cleveland. They did pretty well against Philly. They began struggling against Green Bay’s four man rush. They played marginally against the Skins, OK against Cinci and badly against AZ.
When you struggle against a four man rush (as they did at times against GB, AZ, Wash) there is an issue. Not sure what it is, perhaps Flo’s health, but it’s galringly obvious at this point.

GB has a good front 4
When Dallas played them Cullen Jenkins was playing great, plus Kampman is a top DE.
WAS has a better defense than I thought, but I still think Dallas should have run more and not had Romo drop back 47 times. That is tough on any O-line.
I’m not making any excuses for them in the AZ game. They didn’t protect Romo, and they failed to get much push in the running game. It doesn’t help when you leave a one armed LT in the game. That is a question I would like someone to ask Wade.

Maybe Hudson Houck is the problem?

The entire team is just underachieving
point blank
and i’m talking about BOTH the players and the coaches…

I've been saying it for the last 3-4 weeks
The O-line is not playing right. I know there have been a couple games where Romo hasn’t been sacked, but if you’ve been watching, it is clear he has been under more pressure than usual. I also think this has been contributing to TO’s lack of production. Since he is getting jammed at the line, by the time he gets off the press and gets open, Romo has already had to get rid of the ball because of the pressure.
I understand that with Kosier hurt, that may be accounting for some of the poor OL play, but seriously, something needs to be done. It’s more than just Proctor playing bad out there.

I agree completely
teams win and lose based on O and D line play first and foremost. And it’s clear that neither has lived up to expectations.
And I could not agree more on the TO comment. When teams double and triple Owens, he can still beat them, but it takes time to unfold and Romo has to believe that he has the time to let Owens improvise or out-run the coverage.

The OL needs to play much better
Dunk is right, they are simply not getting it done which in turn is causing Romo to be blamed for fumbles and mistakes.
Romo as any qb does, needs time in the pocket which he isn’t getting. The OL is allowing way too much penetration into the pocket which is causing his errant throws. Its funny how people are ripping on Romo for mistakes he’s making, but I’ve seen Manning and Brady make those exact same mistakes when their OL has sucked in the past.
A qb is completely 100% dependent on their OL, its simply a cold hard fact that can’t be overlooked.

And beyond all the hits he took -
which interestingly few are acknowledging – there is no shape to the pocket so he can slide and then step up while throwing, and no lanes to get the ball to where the play was designed. Completing a pass is dependent on all those things, not just “oh, he didn’t get sacked so he should have hit the receiver”. You notice that the running game also limped along. Someone said Flo was hurt and clearly that must have impacted over-all play because they were terrible.

yes, the OL couldn't run block as well
although that never was there strong suit anyways, however they could always pass block well, but now they can’t seem to do that anymore.
It all starts with these guys, our future success or failure will directly depend on whether they get their s*&# together. They have to improve their play more than any unit on the team.

What's Gurode's problem?
Anybody know? Finally, somebody (TO) confronted him. Those shotty snaps and spacing out when the ball was on the ground is concerning. And shouldn’t he be aware of the play clock/snap count. Duh.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

Partly it was standing around watching people go after the fumble
but I think I saw TO say something about “your quarterback”. I was cheering when I saw him rip into that guy.
