While everyone is busy jumping off the cliff....
We need to get a little perspective on what a team's goals in the NFL should be. No team, no matter how talented, is automatically put into the playoffs. Here are the Cowboys goals in my opinion...
1). Earn a playoff spot
2). Win the division
3). Get a first round bye
4). Homefield throughout the playoffs
5). Win a playoff game
6). Win the NFC
7). Win the Super Bowl
This is October, and this is the NFL. This is not college football. We need to quit talking about the Super Bowl, being Super Bowl contenders, or whatever such nonsense people like to boast about. Our goals are listed above, in that order.
Starting off 4-2 goes a long way to helping us achieve #1. Sure 6-0 would be better, but at least we're not the Seahawks, a supposed playoff team who is now 1-4.
So quit talking about the Super Bowl. The expectations ARE too high. I don't care what some fantasy football book, or expert on ESPN that you now talk crap about, or some blogger told you. This is October football.
We need to worry about the Rams.

That's for the perspective, mhuff13.
However, i should hope that the coaches and players NOW have a sense of urgency to start preparing and playing with a continual chip on their respective shoulders and improve their performance for an entire game… starting with this Sunday against St. Louis.

very well said mhuff
Most Cowboys fans are just so spoiled it makes me sick. I guess they forgot that just a few years ago we would have been jumping for joy at being 4-2. The expectations clearly were too high.
Before the season I believed the Cowboys were the best team in the league and I still believe that, but I also learned from the last several NFL seasons that the SB isn’t won in October or even November. I knew we weren’t going to dominate the league, it’s impossible.
The team playing the best football currently will not win the SB if current history is any indication, its the team thats playing the best in December and January that will win it all. Ask the Pats how peaking in October and November turned out for them last year.
I’m glad we’re 4-2 and I’m glad we need to work on a lot of things because if we would be peaking now, we’d surely not win in January.
Its not how you start, its how you finish, thats the bottom line.

Its not about the high expectations
its about the fact that this team is playing worse every week. We are declining as the season goes on and more problems spring up every week. This team has little confidence and no sense of urgency and the coaches saying “hey, we’re 4-2” is only adding to the problem. Some azzes need to get kicked today from the top to the bottom of the organization or this season will end badly.

It's all about next week
We’ll see if they turn it around. A team with the talent the Cowboys have should come out next week and really take out their frustrations on the Rams, giving a game that will cause all doubters to turn around.
If they phone it in next week with a sloppy loss, I’ll be concerned. If they lose, I’ll be in full blown panic.
How Bout Them Cowboys!

Time to break it down even more.
Like make 3rd down conversions.
Like force more 3 and outs.
Like break down on ST coverage tackles.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

I won't disagree with you here
I just wanted people to quit talking Super Bowl, and that was before I found out about Romo’s injury…
