I am really getting tired of this whole concept of leadership.
I cant understand that why professional athletes need to be led. I've never played in the NFL, but when I played in college, I never needed anyone else to get me ready to play football. In fact, being a grown man, and having another grown man try to yell at me only pissed me off. Anyone who has ever been in a football locker room knows that there is even a little bit of resentment for the so-called leader.
Everyone keeps saying that they want to see someone "get in everybody's face." Once again, the football players on this blog know that that is the kind of stuff that creates enemies and divides a locker room.
A loud, cuss-you-out coach will only push his players to turn on him.
Either you are ready to play ball or you aren't. Either you know your assignments or you don't. It's either in you or it isnt. If you are not ready to play intense, motivated football every week, you need a new job.
I dont want to hear anymore about a lack of leadership being the reason for this team's downfall. Do you think our secondary is getting burned because they're really not very good, or because they dont have a leader. Do you think our defense as a whole struggles because Brian Stewart cant call plays, or because we dont have Winston Churchill in the huddle.
Leadership is the most overrated excuse for bad football. Grown men, professional athletes do not need to be led. Teams must work together, but every man must be responsible for his own play.
