Where's the faith?
Okay fellow BTBers, I need to know. How can you be hopeful for the rest of this season? How can we expect Wade to fix the things he has not begun to fix all year? How can we hope Redball will return to his status as "offensive whiz kid."
Last Sunday, I officially lost hope. Watching that Rams game, I had a sinking feeling in my stomach and a loss of energy that took me back to the Campo days. I see varying degrees of optimism and pessimism on this blog and I want to be optimistic, but I can't find any reasons to do so.
Our O-line stinks, our secondary is a mess, our players look confused and beaten and our head coach keeps saying "Its my fault, I'll fix it."
I have no doubt that Wade WANTS to fix it, but I don't think he can. If Stewart was really that bad, how come it took this long for him to recognize that?
This post is not meant to bash our team, I really want to know - how do you guys keep faith? What can I cling to as our season goes down the drain?

the return of injured players
who are very important part of the team like Romo, Felix, Kosier and Newman. I agree the Cowboys aren’t focused mentality, but not having a lot of your best players is not helping at all.
Hope IMO is going to come after our bye week, until then I don’t see us playing much better or winning any games until we get healthy and refocused.
Whether it will be too late or not is up for debate, but thats I see the season playing out. Weather this storm and make a run in November and December, thats our only shot.

+1
I think returning injured players will provide a much needed boost to the team and the fans. However, I’m afraid it’s going to be too little, too late. I think if we lose these next two games, which is pretty much assured without Romo, our season will be too far gone, though they may make a late season push to try and catch a wildcard spot. But I’m afraid it will all be for naught.

it depends how the NFC shakes out
It the team can catch fire in November and December when healthy, they can still win 10 games even if they fall to 4-5.
Personally, I’d be shocked if 10 wins don’t get you in this season.

From what I've seen...
These guys don’t have the stones to go on the run they’ll need to get into the playoffs. 9-7 is NOT good enough for the NFC…I see us crapping the bed, yet again, and we’ll be blogging about how much butt we’re gonna kick next season…PLEASE MAKE ME EAT CROW, BOYS!

Just look at the schedule, even if we drop to 4-5
The key is the Redskins game, after the bye
@Redskins-We can win if we get our act together during the bye
SF at home – should be a win
Seattle on Thanksgiving – they are probably more disappointing than us at the moment, win
@Pittsburgh will be a tough game for sure.
Giants at home – rivalry game, anything can happen
Ravens at home – our offense should be healthy, and nobody can stop it. I like us here
@Philly – our season could come down to this game. If we don’t win it we don’t deserve playoffs
So it all will start with Washington, assuming most of our injured guys come back as expected. I really think that we could go on a 6-1 run with that schedule.

I think its the players attitude
They are playing like they expect to win and it seems like they are playing with no desire to win. From hearing some of the things they were saying after the game, they give up on themselves way too easily.
I think that wade needs to get into their @$$ a little and not be so soft

I don't really know how...
but I do have faith in “dem cowboys”, just like I have faith that the rangers will become more then a farm team trading away their pitching every year. Things may look pretty bad right now but look at the game last night the pats blew out the broncos after being after being blown out by the ravens the week before, things can change turn around this week. You got to look at the glass half full, for example with all the media attention we get around the clock if we do make it to the super bowl this year, where a big question always is how will the teams focus with the concentration of the mass media through super bowl week, to the boys’ that’ll be like training camp, yawn.

I believe in the cowboys
and will be a fan until the day I die. Last sunday just really knocked the wind out of my sails and I am not optimistic that the current coaching staff has it in them to make the necessary changes.

I know hindsight is 20/20
but I think to most it looks as though Jerry made a big mistake in hiring Wade originally. As fans we gave him the benefit of the doubt, but I just don’t think he is a very good motivator which is an essential trait of all good coaches. He allows the players to motivate themselves, and obviously they cannot do that.
Its a shame because all of this talent just seems to be wasting away yet again. Very disappointing and frustrating as a fan.

Tom Landry wasn't a good motivater

thats not true at all
You don’t have 20 consecutive winning seasons without the ability to motivate, absolutely impossible.

-100
He wasn’t a “typical” motivator.
His players played as hard or harder than any team in the modern era. So what if he wasn’t a player’s coach or a scream till you bust a blood vessel coach?
His players, and they had a lot of personalities on those teams, all went balls out on every play because of the culture of accountability that he alone created.

Ask anybody who played for him if Landry wasn't a motivator
His players respected him and feared his disapproval. He didn’t rant and rave but he knew how to get their attention.

Players were also alot different then
The coach actually had power. Now coaches are babysitters.

Bellicheat is no babysitter
Neither are guys like Del Rio (we need a guy like him!!!) or Andy Reid.

For all the talent Reid has had over the years
he hasn’t done squat and he is terrible at game/clock management.

Agree on the clock thing...
but I must point out that your point has nothing to do with what was asked.

-1 on Reid
He is no motivator at all. Terrible example.

Funny how his teams always come ready to play against NFC East rivals
Not sure we can say the same…

He doesn't need to motivate them for Division games
He’s a smart HC, but I don’t exactly consider him any type of motivating factor. For all the talent he’s had, he’s won exactly one NFC championship, pathetic when you factor in the lack of talent in the NFC during his run.

I'm not blaming just the injuries
But this team misses T-New bad, especially after Pacman screwed up yet again.
And of course Romo has to play for this team to win. BJ is incapable of leading this offense.
Plus the team is also missing the wow factor without El Gato.
When those players can get back on the field, as well as Kosier, Burnett, and Spencer, things should look much better.

with 9 games to go...
how could anyone give up on the season
by cowboyup3181 on Oct 21, 2008 8:48 PM CDT reply actions 0 recs
Doesn't matter how we've been playing
If we can turn things around. I know that’s a HUGE if….but….
The Rams were the laughing stock of the NFL for weeks, then in back to back games knocked off 2 of the “Beasts of the East”.
Any team can turn it around.

I have faith!
I know the Cowboys will come through with a victory against the Buccaneers. All that they have to do is remember that they are football players, with a heart and passion for the game. Everything else will fall into place.

About Stewart,
Wade is loyal almost to a fault, thats his guy, and he wanted to give him every opportunity to succeed.
