A few Questions with... JScott, Bucs Blogger

Hello Cowboys fans, JScott here from Buc 'Em welcoming you to Buccaneers-Cowboys week. As part of the cross-blogging that will be going on all week between Buc 'Em and Blogging the Boys, we figured we would create these FanPosts on each others sites to answer any questions that were out there about each team.

Got a Bucs question? Let 'er rip! I look forward to a great game Sunday. Hopefully the Thanksgiving woodshed beating from two years ago doesnt repeat itself. Good luck, and ask me any questions about the Bucs, the game, etc!

I'll check back in regularly to get those questions answered!

Are we going to see Galloway in the lineup Sunday?

I read Gruden will continue to give Bryant the same amount of playing time even if Galloway does return.

This is going to be somewhat of a homecoming for Bryant. I think we Cowboy fans knew he had all the talent to be a really good one in this league, but he let his immaturity get in the way. It’s good to see that he finally turned things around in Tampa bay. I know he is going to be motivated coming back to Dallas.

There could be two ex-cowboy wr’s on the field Sunday for Tampa. I just hope they don’t have a good game against us..lol

Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

Bryant is going to want to smoke us bad

I look for a huge game from him.

no definitive

word on Joey Galloway yet.. There’s been talk this week that even if he did return, he would no longer be in the role he enjoyed last season as Antonio Bryant has filled in very nicely. So nicely in fact that he may remain in Galloway’s spot for the rest of the season. This team needs speed though and its sad that Galloway or our 2nd round pick in Dexter Jackson are not able to provide that much needed speed.

after the Bucs watch the game tape

from the Rams game, do you think they’ll take us lightly??

I really hope so… try to take it easy on us Sunday, okay? It could get ugly with Brad playing again.

It's the Bucs, dude

31 teams may dream of the Superbowl but only one team, the Dallas Cowboys, expect it.

Um, the Bucs are 5-2

we’re not. We have no right to say “it’s the (insert team name here) dude” on anyone. One more loss and they will be saying that about us.

The older I get, the better I was.

Apologies

i don't think they'll take your Cowboys lightly
  1. it’s the Cowboys #2 the game is in big ‘D’ #3 it’s the Cowboys. The Bucs got embarrassed the last time they faced you guys so redemption will be on their minds. I don’t expect to see a blowout though, i expect to see a tight ball game where both teams play almost flawlessly…

That’s of course if Romo plays… is he expected to start?

Doesn't sound like it

Someone just posted in another thread he’s saying he won’t be back till after the bye.

by mhuff13 on Oct 21, 2008 8:25 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

I highly doubt it

The reason he didn’t play against the Rams is because the protective cast he wears to protect his finger doesn’t allow him to take snaps and grip the ball quick enough to set up and throw.

He is out until week 11 more than likely.

i hate to hear that

i hate playing opponents that arent 100%…. it throws a disgusting realm of unknown into the team’s win column. Hopefully Brad Johnson finds a way to make it competitive…

Hey, this is the NFL

take a win any way you can get it. If the game is competitive, it won’t be because of Brad Johnson, it will because our OL, defense and ST come to play and stop committing penalties and mistakes.

Offensive Line question

I was wondering how good the offensive line of the Bucs has been against stopping the pass rush. Obviously the Dallas secondary has been playing awful, and with Wade taking more control in calling the defense(hopefully), and with him wanting to use Greg and Ware more as pass rushers, that could be a way to help the secondary out. I see that Garcia/Griese have only been sacked 8 times total this year, but they have only played the Saints, Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, Denver, Carolina, and Seattle, who currently are ranked 13th, 24th, 13th, 18th, 8th, 22nd, and 13th in sacks respectively, so in the two games that they lost (Saints and Broncos), how much did this affect them? Dallas currently sits tied for 4th with the Jets, so this should be a test for that Tampa line.

by Zach22 on Oct 21, 2008 10:16 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

the o-line has been great against the pass rush

They’ve had three games in which a sack was not allowed, one of which our QB threw the ball 67 times (@ Chicago). The Saints didnt really get to Garcia that much, he was just off accuracy-wise all game. The Broncos however did get to our QB’s and even put Griese out of the game with a shoulder injury. Leading up to the Broncos game, their fans swore they had no pass rush yet they pressured our QB’s all day. Our line, though its young, has been our greatest strength. Sunday is no doubt a great test for them.

Bucs are good, but...

It is really a question of what the Cowboys do in regards to changes in their personnel/gameplan. Personnaly, I have faith that the Cowboys will play with heart and fire, and give the Buc’s a run for they’re money. Apparantly, our offensive line isn’t the same without Kyle Kosier. Obviously, our offense isn’t the same without Romo. So here is my question Jake….Do you believe Brad Johnson is capable of doing in his old team?

Being a Cowboy fan that now lives in NY but grew up in Tampa, I have more right to ask this question of you than any other Cowboy fans, since this game is internal Turmoil for me (Buc’s my second team behind Cowboys).

Based on Johnson's performance last week

i’m inclined to say no. Our d-line doesnt have a ton of sacks to speak of, but coupled with the LB’s pursuit they definitely have their fair share of QB disruptions. If I remember anything about Brad Johnson, its that he was slow to get plays started. Fast forward six years and he must look like a sloth out there.

If the coaching staff calls for quick plays, 3 step drops, and a ton of looks over the middle to enter threat here the Cowboys would present a pretty good challenge for our defense. If they rely on Johnson to take 5 step drops in hopes of hitting T.O. deep it could be a long day as our d-linemen are very distinctive and disruptive. Gaines Adams has two interceptions from the left end position.

Our rush defense has been great thus far so they will be tested again this week with Marion the Barbarian…

How would you rate your defensive line?

for some reason the pass few weeks our o-line has looked like [expletive].

by quincyyyyy on Oct 21, 2008 11:05 PM CDT reply actions   0 recs

it's a line that won't scare you sack-wise

Our sack leader in DE Greg White (3.5) hasnt registered a sack since week 3. It’s not that they don’t pressure the QB because they do, they just havent been able to register a bunch of sacks. Gaines Adams has two interceptions (one for a touchdown) so that shows you what type of instincts he has. And the defense has been really great against the run (Chris Hovan and Jovan Haye up the middle) by not allowing a 100 yard rusher all season or a rushing touchdown.

The ace in the hole is our MLB Barrett Ruud coming in on blitzes. He’s caused tipped passes, has a sack, and has two interceptions himself. We certainly don’t possess the toughest defensive line you’ll face all season, but they are far from push overs.

We're the opposite.

We get lots of sacks, but little pressure. Looking strictly at our sacks, you’d think our defensive line consistently wreaks havoc. You’d be wrong.

by Mandmeisterx on Oct 23, 2008 12:02 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah half the time its Ware getting the sacks

he is the only player on our team that is consistent.

by quincyyyyy on Oct 23, 2008 12:23 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

And most of Ware's sacks are garbage time.

Not counting the last game (which he was a man in), he’s even invisible most of the time.

by Mandmeisterx on Oct 23, 2008 1:12 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

That sack vs. zona

Was huge.. That wasn’ garbage time..

Ware facing double teams and his teammates doing nothing, is the problem. Not Ware..

Dwight Freeney faced the same treatment in 2006 and had 5.5.. Show Ware his proper respect!! sw

And the sack against Philly

Was huge. That was on Philly’s last drive that could have beaten us.

Saying Ware gets sacks in garbage time and no other time is just nit-picking.

They’re not sacks in garbage time. They’re sacks in crunch time.

by mhuff13 on Oct 23, 2008 4:46 PM CDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah

Ware scares the bejesus out of me with his sack numbers… how’s the rush defense?

It depends on which Dallas defense you get...

At first the run defense was a strength, then Portis gashed us (who hasn’t he tore up though) and Stephen Jackson made us look like a Pop Warner defense.

I'm going to the game this weekend

I was wondering if there were any up and coming players that non-Tampa fans wouldn’t know about that I should be on the watch for.

S Sabby Piscitelli

has been reminiscent of former Buc S John Lynch. He’s not a starter but tends to come in on nickel packages and has produced by laying the thunder, causing fumbles, and intercepting the ball. He’s a wrecking ball on special teams… He’s definitely a up and comer

Another Safety Tanard Jackson typically flys under the radar. He’s one of the hardest hitters on the team and is always mixing it up with opposing offenses.

I’m not sure how familiar you are with MLB Barrett Ruud but he’s our best defensive player. He’s got a radar for the ball. He’s in on the action every single play. When he rushes the QB he tends to provide splash opportunities for his teammates (he helped CB Phillip Buchanon return a ball for a touchdown against ATL). He’s got great cover skills and is a sure tackler who is always looking to strip the ball. He is rarely if ever caught out of position.

On offense, I’m sure Antonio Bryant is familiar to you, he’s been phenomenal for us lately. He doesnt possess ridiculous speed, but he’s been snatching the ball out of the air and he provides our greatest weapon to stretch the field.

In the category of not-so-glamorous: Rookie Guard Jeremy Zuttah has been enormous while filling in for injured Guard’s Davin Joseph and Arron Sears. He’s a big reason why our run offense has been so consistent. For a rookie to #1 be so versatile on the line and #2 be able to be effective… he’s been a great addition…

your guess is as good as mine

in a league where the Browns beat the Giants, the Chiefs beat the Broncos and so on and so on. I dont think any match-up is a gimme. Obviously the odds are on our side with the bounty of players who won’t be suiting up for your squad this week. With the Bucs there’s always the potential to look past the Cowboys considering all of the perceived weaknesses your team now possesses. Luckily for us we have to play the Chiefs next, so I don’t think the Bucs will have a problem focusing on the ‘Boys… Plus they’ll want to avenge for that Turkey Day ass beating from a couple years ago….

Last weekend any Bucs fan would have thought we would demolish the Seahawks at home, we only won by 10 points so going on the road, anything can happen

I think Warick Dunn

Is hurt right?

you'll see Earnest Graham extensively

Warrick Dunn has was limited in walk throughs yesterday… i dont think he’ll see the field. Earnest Graham should get the majority of the work load this weekend. Cadillac Williams has started practicing this week after being injured for more than a year, but he wont play this weekend either…

you may see Michael Bennett out there, but its difficult to say as Gruden likes to keep this info close to the chest
