The State of the Season
Guys, we're still in this thing. We certainly have a tough schedule ahead, but this is doable.
Giants - Probably not great odds this time around, but hey, you never know. (5-4)
Bye- Could not come at a better time, getting guys healthy will be key (5-4)
@Skins- Skins have calmed as of late. We can take these guys (6-4)
49ers - No excuse for a loss here (7-4)
Seattle- (See 49ers above) (8-4)
Steelers- Definitely beatable if we are healthy, based on yesterday (9-4)
Giants- I'll give this one to us, because the games is a toss up, so we'll split (10-4)
Ravens- I was originally going to give this one to Baltimore, just because. But, they have Pitt and the Skins right before us, and may be reeling by then. (11-4)
Eagles - Hate to say it, but I have a bad feeling about this one (11-5)
I say we finish 2nd in the division behind the G-men and beat them in the playoffs.
All this is best case scenario, obviously, and is in direct relation to a freeze on getting injured from here on out.
I guess i'm pointing out what everyone else already has. This was a big win, and the difference between 5-3 and 4-4 (especially in the nfc east) is absolutely HUGE.

At this point in the season
if somebody offered me that record, I’d take it in a heat beat. Hey, it just might be good enough for the divsional title, the GMen are now just heading into the toughest part of their schedule.

6-2 with no upset losses?
Not likely.

very likely

yeah really
Were not going 6-2 down the stretch. Were losing 3 maybe 4 more games after the bye.
If I had to guess, were dropping the Steelers, Eagles, Skins, Ravens…..
Were going to be rusty coming off the bye so we lose that game
Look up... get up...Don't ever, ever give up!!

you're starting to sound like Deke
we’re definitely not losing to the Steelers, I’ll be there to cheer them on, I’ll get those guys fired up for that game lol

If the D
Plays like it played like vs TB we will go 6-2 if Romo is back.. You just can’t give Romo TO and Roy and expect other teams offense’s to keep up..

So you see us finishing 8-8 then?
We could lose to the Steelers and Eagles but I think they will win the other 2. The Skins have looked just okay the past 3 games and we will hopefully have all our big guns in that game. I see 10-6 and being the 6th seed in the playoffs probably playing at Arizona.

Amen.
As I said, above was “best case scenario.” I think your opinion here is closer to actuality. One of those games that I have a win down for, we will probably mess up, but I don’ think it will be Pittsburgh.

As Much As I Hope You're Right...
We’ve had trouble with the Skins for the last three seasons now.
They’ve won the last three against us @ FedEx Field — with two of them being blowouts.
And our games with them at home have been close, chain-smoking, bullet-sweating battles (losing the latest one earlier this season and winning a tight one last year when Romo threw 4 TD passes to TO in a come-from-behind victory).
So even with our big guns back, i still expect a tough battle with Washington.

+1....everyone thinks the Wash game is a lock cuz we'll have some of our players back
We didn’t beat them when we were at full strength….doubting we’ll beat them at their house, even when we get a bunch of our wounded, rusty players back…

I disagree that everyone is thinking that
We’re not saying it’s a lock, we’re saying we’re going to have most of our injured players back which in turn gives us a much better chance of winning the game, plus we’ll be coming off of a bye.
Lets face it, if we play our game with a relatively healthy team, Redskins will not beat us. If we play poorly, of course they’ll beat us as any number of teams could.

so your saying...
that the same team that went 10-1 in their first 11 games last year doesn’t have a chance to go 6-2.
Let me remind you that we havene’t seen this team at it’s full potential yet because of injuries. Once Romo and F. Jones comes back they will get to play with RW11 for the first time. I’m expecting our offense to be unstoppable (better than the patriots offense last year).
by calebsmith on Oct 28, 2008 7:37 AM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
that all depends on the O Line....as this team has more offensive talent than the '07 Patriots..
Now if Garrett can call a sound game remains to be seen….the guy has no creativity at all…

We lead the league in scoring before Romo got hurt, how do you figure Garrett has no creativity? Our only issue is health..

ummmm.....I could have led this team to league leading point totals, prior to injuries....don't kid yourself...
This team on talent ALONE put up those points, not the play caller……If Al Saunders, Norv Turner, Mike Holmgren, Mike Martz, Sean Payton, etc….or any half way decent, experienced, and creative OC would have put up even more points…Garrett is stiffling, and holding these talented players back from being even better than they’ve shown thus far….If you can’t find creative ways to get TO open, can’t run up the middle, or to the left, or make better use of available personel, then your failing in your duties as OC.………Anyone of the above mentioned OC’s would be a major upgrade in offensive game planning, and play calling…In fact, I can think of at least a dozen OC’s i’d rather have running this offense…and all would be superior to Garrett…….and some want him as HC as well ?? geeeeeezz, he can’t even handle his current duties, we’re looking to add to those responsibilities ??

IF
-our defense can keep up this fire and intensity
-we can avoid injuries from here on out
-The offense can pull its head out of its bunghole and start getting the ball into the hands of TO and RW2
Then there is no team in this league we can’t win against. Everyone has Pittsburgh in the super bowl but I don’t see it. They are beat up and getting beat up and will wilt come playoff time. The skins are totally beatable, ask the Rams the Lions. The giants are good but I love the Plaxico press and hope to hell he tears their locker room apart. The eagles are coming back but we can still beat them.
The boys have used up all their chances early in the season and must play playoff football from here on out.

If the Cowboys play with the energy and intensity
in their remaining games that they displayed against the Bucs, winning 6 out of their next 8 games is very doable, provided of course we get back our injured studs healthy again.

I think starting Bollinger gives us a better chance of beating the Giants...and Wade would be a complete fool not to give him more reps this week in practice..
BRAD SUX ….anyone with any QB experience at all would be a better choice…even Stanback & Crayton are a better option…
btw…If Romo had any nuts at all..he’d be playing against the Giants…3 weeks is long enough to mend a broken pinky…..scale down the splint and strap it up Hollywood. !!!

you're wrong Boyz
fractures take at least 5 weeks to heal, to risk a displaced fracture would be stupid. He could play if this were a playoff game, but it’s not that important.
Believe me, Romo wants to play but can’t afford to risk further injury which is the smartest move. Has absolutely nothing to do with his toughness, because nobody is tougher.

I played RB/MLB with a multiple fractured hand...by hey....that's just me.
THIS GAME is important…THIS IS a playoff game……..IF Brad goes into this game, and gets hammered, and we lose big, it will rip whatever wind is in our sails right out…….I’n not saying Romo needs to start, but he should be available to play if needed….I know how long fractures take…I’ve fractured several fingers, my hand, a few ribs, multiple vertabrae, my ankle, and collarbone….3 weeks and it’s already rebuilt, not completely healed, but in place, and takes another 3 weeks to completely mend…….He can be fitted for a composite splint, that would have minimal effect to his throwing ability……..For us to think after the bye week it will business as usual, are setting yourself up for serious disappointment……Sure, some players will be back, but will they be in game shape, or have the rust out of their game ?…ummm..NO….losing to Washington again is a strong possibility……..We lose to NY and Wash…..the season is over…..period….

obviously you haven't been keeping up
with the latest news because the training staff already tried to fit Romo with a composite splint that would have minimal effect on his throwing ability but it can’t be done, they tried. The splint will not allow him to grip the ball fast enough.
You can’t compare playing RB and LB to QB with respect to finger fractures. RB and LB don’t have to grip and throw a football so obviously your cast would be much different than his in this regard.
I think the bye week will do wonders for this team and will be much rested and energized after that break. A loss this week will not be devastating at all since we’ll be over .500.

ummm...I saw the wrap job they did on his hand...it was enormous....it can be scaled down tremendously..
I could understand two weeks or a week ago he may not of been able to go….but by this week, the bone has bonded, vulnerable, but bonded…he doesn’t need a protective cast around the pinkey….a simple flex composite splint, with minimal wrap, ajoining the other finger would give the finger flexability and leyway to sustain some impact without further damaging it….available to play…not start…..otherwise we are conceding this game before it’s played……..sure 5-4 keeps us in the hunt…going 6-1 the rest of the way may be too much to ask…….
and to the notion a RB doesn’t need to grip the ball…huh ?

I said grip and throw, two different things
And Romo does need a protective cast around the pinkie until its fully healed or the fracture has a chance of becoming displaced upon a hit and then he’s out at least one more month which obviously ends the season.
Going 6-1 or 5-2 is very doable with Romo at full strength, the Cowboys have won over 70% of the games he’s started so I’ll take my chances with a healthy Romo going 6-1 or 5-2 then the risk of having Brad Johnson finish the season.

I wish that would happen
I see Dallas splitting the division the rest of the way, with the possible exception of beating Philly one more time.
I think it all hinges on the Washington game. Thats a prime time game, with most of the key injuries in the rear view mirror. If they can win that one convincingly, the momentum will be huge. If they lose…I actually dont want to think about that.
All that being said, if BJ is our quarterback this week, I say pull anybody who is a game time decision or needs to heal up (Witten) and tell the defense to go win the game.

This is still the team that Parcells built.
This season is just like the Boys under Bill. They’re inconsistent, lots of penalties, looking at 9-7, need help to get in the playoffs, can’t run well, leave the middle of the field wide open on defense, etc. It cracks me up when people say we need Parcells, because this season is going a lot like they did when he was here.

Bledsoe's a baby
He could have been a man and stayed to backup Romo. Then, during a critical stretch like this one, he could be the man but instead wants to make wine in Idaho or whatever the hell he does. Don’t put too many of your sour grapes in the wine, Bledsoe.

Bledsoe would have been the ideal buck up here...but i can understand why he bowed out..Parcells yanked him twice...I wouldn't of stayed here under him either...
