Dal vs. NY my take
I have read a lot of comments off several threads and everyone is debating the following subjects:
Should Brad step down for Brooks?
Will the D show up again?
Did the days off for the team affect/effect their play?
Is it impossible for the boys to beat the Gints?
I do not know how many of you guys are in the state of TX but I am; I watch a lot of the localized cowboys shows that come on FSN. I also listen to talking cowboys and the lunch break from the dallas cowboys website. A lot of talk, excitement, frustration, hope, and anxiety about this coming game against the gints. On to the first question.
Brad is the only QB (other than Romo) who has practiced on a regular basis with the first team offense; Brooks has been strickly practicing with the scout team (i.e. running plays that the opp team runs, not the ones our Offense runs). Brad is a shell of his former self, I will not rule out the possibility that he may be benched. The thing we can look at as fans is that we see no real way that Brad will score enough points for this team against the gints. The flipside is will Brooks handle the pressure of that D and the unfamiliarity he will have with our off and play any better than Brad? The odds are a wash in my opinion, Brad may not be able to go deep and will provide the gints with an easier gameplan; but on the other hand Brooks could meltdown and turn into a turnover machine and the game would be lost. I do agree with what Nate Newton had to offer on talking cowboys yesterday, he said that going with Brad is the best option we got. The truth is it will be completely up to our Def and ST to make the plays and put the O in good field position or even score some points. The argument the other way for using Brooks is that the boys are willing to go for broke and hope the other areas of the team will be able to handle any mistakes that come from the Off. On to the second question.
Will the D show up again?
The D has another monster challenge this week, the gints are a power run team and stick to it unless they are trailing badly. The loud mouth b#*$ch Brandon J will be in full douche form for this game and so will his second banana Ward. The D knows that they have to stop the run and get in sheli's face. Stopping the run should be the priority, because sheli is dependent on not having to win the game with his arm, he compliments the running game but does not open it up. I will refer to Nate again "stop the run and the old eli will come back". The team went through a slobber knocker game this week and found a way to win behind its D. The D still has its back to the wall because of the condition of the off which now has more impact players hurt than the D. The D knows that the majority of the burden of this upcoming game is on them; like it was last week and I feel that they have the ability to play with type of intensity again. Especially against the gints, a team they truly hate. On to the third question.
Did the days off for the team affect/effect their play?
I had heard after the game that Wade had given the team the day off on saturday before the bucs game. I do not know how I would have reacted to it if I had found out before the game (not like it really matters) but since they won it is less of an issue with everyone in the media. I think the reason he did so last week and is doing the same now is because he is aware that the offense is not going to be able to put up points and sustain long drives to give the def a break. The O converted three 3rd down plays out of 15 (thats 20%) and that means a lot of punting and having the D on the field. The day off was in preparation for this event, and the days off they got after the game are for the same reason; to get their bodies a break. I gurantee you they are going to need to be physically ready to take on the running attack the gints have and if not they will be gassed by the end of the 3rd qtr if not sooner. So the rest in my opinion is a tactical choice ranther than a atta boy for their performance; the coaches are not going to take any time off they are working round the clock to have a gameplan ready for the players when they comeback. On to the fourth question.
Is it impossible for the boys to beat the Gints?
The challenge is daunting, the gints are playing good football, they are not dominating but they do find a way to win; they are aggressive, they are a hard hitting team but are not without their flaws. The boys are the wounded warrior, and they are not expected to win; some think it will be an outright victory for the gints. Personally I do not know what to make of the boys chances; truthfully they do not stand much of a chance to win. I think the more important question is should the victory be the only thing they play for? What I mean by that is if they get the victory then great, kudos to the boys; but they should not feel the pressure to feel that if they do not win that the season is lost. Of course this is dependent on how they fail; if they look flat and are unable to compete with the gints then that is a sign that the bucs were just having a bad day. If on the other hand the boys are able to compete with the gints and it takes until half-way or late in the 4th qtr before the gints finally pull away. That type of game will tell the boys that we may not have had enough to beat you this time but we came pretty darn close and next time we'll be better and we will kick your butt. So there is a small silver lining in a defeat, I hate, hate, hate to use this as an example but the game the gints had against the pats last year gave them the confidence to beat them in the superbowl. This game could give dallas the confidence they need to keep the right attitude and realize that they have the talent and ability to rise above the adversity and remember what it takes to win in the NFL. My hope is that they give the gints the fight of their life, take that feeling all the way through the end of the season, and let the chips fall where they may.

Nice post.
In my opinion, Brooks would have a greater chance of losing the game himself than Brad would.
Defense has to play stellar again.
Maybe this is the game Tashard Choice gets a few series of his own? He’s kinda the last secret weapon that Dallas has that the Giants may not be able to account for. C’mon, Cowboys: Barber can do everything better with fresher legs.
That #38 sure should wrap up!

Right on
Garrett ought to give Choice at least 10 carries if not more. I hope Garrett learned his lesson on giving MB3 too many carries in the playoff game. Time to split the carries up a little bit and give MB3 a break
choice
I wonder if he is missing blitzs protections..
"If you see me up in the mountains with a lion, I ain't lyin
don't help me, help the mountain lion"
Yeah we can't afford for the rb to miss on blitz protection with Brad back there.
Actually the Cricket whiffed on a block that led to Romo getting hurt.

This is an interesting stat in our favor
If you haven’t checked out Mike Lombardi’s blog over at the National Football Post, you should. The former NFL executuve has a theory when it comes to playing Pittsburgh: you’re not the same team the next week.
The Steelers have been and are one of the most physical teams in the NFL. You may beat them, but you pay a price physically and it costs you in the following game. The Giants beat the Steelers last week in what was a typical, hard-fought, big-hitting game.
This week the Giants play the Cowboys.
So if you’re looking for any bit of good news as a Cowboys’ fan, you can look at Lombardi’s theory as a sign of hope with Tony Romo, Terence Newman, Felix Jones, Anthony Spencer and maybe Jason Witten and Anthony Henry not playing Sunday.
Over the last two years, teams are just 7-14 in games after they play the Steelers, including a 1-5 record this year.

I watch the Steelers more than any other team since I live in western Pa and as a casual observer of the team, I have to say there is some truth in this. Pittsburgh has always prided itself on having extremely tough, physical teams who just love to punch you in the mouth all day long. As I was watching the Steelers/Giants game I was thinking if the Steelers don’t win, at least beat them up good for us the following week.

However...
We play the Giants the second time after playing the Steelers.
although it actually works against us
later on in December when we are scheduled to play the Giants AFTER we play the Steelers and I believe that Giants game will be a lot more important than this weeks game.

Lame!
Who knows what both teams’ injury status will be then.
Live for the now, so that we can survive into the future.

I think thats exactly what we're doing
just trying survive the injury onslaught the best we can. The NFL season is all about surviving injuries and usually the team that goes all the way is the healthiest in the end.
Other than McBriar and RW1, all of our injured players can eventually get healthy again and thats all we can hope for.
