Romo's Response To Turnovers: So What?

Tim Macmahon from DMN.com asked Romo about his streak of 8 straight games turning over the ball:
"I am pretty sure we won the ballgame," he said when asked whether he was concerned with his turnovers. "If you never turn the ball over as a quarterback, you are probably not going to be that good. Everyone strives for no turnovers, but there's no way you are going to make plays sometimes if you don't trust it and just let it go."
I'm sorry but this to me reveals Romo as a un-inspired leader, if he really is one that is. You can read the rest HERE.

Nobody likes the turnovers

but they are going to happen with Romo. Here are two good comparisons.

Favre has the most TD’s of all-time, but also the most interceptions.

Last year the top 5 turnover leaders in the NBA were DWade, Gilbert Arenas, Steve Nash, LeBron James and Deron Williams.

If you take as many risks as Romo there are going to be some games where he has stupid turnovers.

You know what else Favre has?

12 years since he won a Super Bowl. The only year that Brett led his team to a Super Bowl win, his TD:INT ratio was 39:13, or 3 to 1. Besides, Favre is a 3 time MVP and a Super Bowl Champion. When Romo is either of those, I’ll buy that comparison, but until then, I don’t think so.

Did any of those guys win the NBA title last year, or ever? I know Wade won once, but what about the other guys?

You are so right on this.

I wish people would stop comparing Romo to other players, especially Favre, when Romo has done nothing of note except put up pretty numbers, which lately, have not even been that pretty. See the stat about his last 8 or so games and turnovers and completion %. I love the Cowboys, but the Romo homerism is just absurd. And what really worries me is that now that Pacrcells is gone, Romo might be surrounded by yes men which stunts his growth.

What's absurd is homers who don't see the reality of the situation

It isn’t hatred, it’s fans commenting on crappy play.

We get to do that, you know…

Terry

face the facts

TR is another Danny White can put up big numbers – but has he won anything yet ?

70% of his games

I’ll take that and a comparison to Danny anytime, thank you very much.

Romo is asolutely correct

You cannot make great plays without risking the bad. This just shows he’s willing to do whatever it takes to win and his great leadership of this team.

Well,

Except for cut down on turnovers, apparently.

Sorry, but you left that one wide open.

The rise of Tony Romo

is what has this team contending for a championship. The dark years between he and Troy weren’t that long ago that I don’t completely appreciate the position he puts us in.

That said, he’s gone a little Wade on us (we did win 13 games) in responding to his turnover issues. Although, ‘Darn…I suck,’ was a classic for the ages

Stats

Attempts per interception

Campbell – infinite
McNabb- 87
Delhomme- 71
Cutler- 47
Warner- 45
Ryan- 43
Roethlisberger- 41
Rodgers- 40
Orton- 38
Cutler- 38
Orton- 38
Brees- 37
Brees- 37
Garrard- 37
Rivers- 34
Romo- 32
Palmer- 32
Favre- 31
P. Manning- 30
Hasselback- 29
Flacco- 26
Griese- 24
Kitna- 24
OSullivan- 23
Anderson- 19.5
Schaub- 14

So yes, Romo is below average interception wise thus far. But he hasnt been unreasonably bad out of control or anything. There are some very good QBs right around the same rates. And some meh ones above him, but they dont rank…

Yards: 3rd
YPG: 4th
TDs: 2nd
1st%: 4th
PCT: 10th
Rating: 5th

the preceding post was a great success.

Ha! Romo is better than the great Peyton Manning

I guess he sucks too and the Colts should bench him as well.
