Star-divide

This is silly. This is silly. This is really discomforting. When we lose, the world says "I told you so". When we win, we didnt win by enough. Now all the sudden we are soft, and Wade's not a good enough coach, and Brian Stewart needs to be fired, and Tony Romo's overrated, and Terence Newman is a waste of money because he's hurt again. I'm from the hood, but this makes me wanna go Chris Crocker and make a "Leave the Cowboys Alone" youtube video.

I have never seen a team more scrutinized over every little detaill. The Cowboys are 4-1 people. 4-1!! Do we have to put up 500 yards of offense, and allow 150 every week for all the fans to be satisfied and for the team to be validated in the eyes of the media. I think Pacman put it best when he said "They get paid too." WE ARE NOT GONNA CRUSH EVERYBODY, EVERY WEEK! WE ARE NOT GONNA BE SHARP EVERY WEEK!

What do we gain by blowing out teams in week 5, or week 7? NOTHING. Do you want them to peak now? We've read that book before. Let's steamroll everything in our way until December and then fall apart. If we are still playing this way week 13, 14, I will be concerned. But for now, I think that the Cowboys being involved in meaningful, perhaps even back against the wall games in the final quarter of the season is a good thing. I even think it would be a good thing if we didnt have a first round bye, or even a home playoff game at all. The last two seasons this team has looked to be quite a bit more sharp on the road. They take on that underdog mentality and they just play tougher.

To be honest, I dont care if we beat the Bengals or Rams by 5 or 50. A win is hay in the barn. And we need to get as much hay in the barn as we can before this backloaded schedule gets into the ugly part. If we survive that gauntlet, we will be ready for the postseason.

Romo needs to cut down on the picks. The secondary needs to tighten the screws. The entire defense needs to tackle better. The special teams need to get right. And Jason Garrett needs to find a way to get the ball to T.O. in space. Sounds like a lot of problems, but we are still winning games, and we have about two months to really get our act together.

All 100% true

The main stat right now is 4 wins and 1 loss.

I think a lot of fans, and I’m guilty of it too, pick out the problems and start to get worried. Why? Because in our mind we are already assuming they are making the playoffs, and we are spotting things that will get you beat when you start the second season, the lose and go home season, and it scares and depresses us. How many times can we have a playoff caliber team and yet not win a single playoff game before we snap and end up with some kind of recurring facial tic? (I think I feel one of my eyelids already starting to spasm)

Rational? No.

But to a fan who has heard the hype, and seen this team roll up a 13-3 record with home field advantage, only to screw the pooch in the playoffs…totally understandable.

All we can do is hope this team gets better through the long regular season, and stays healthy, so if we do get back to the playoffs(yes we will) this team goes all the way this year.

Right on Glory

I agree 100% and you can read my post from yesterday for more of the same. All I can say is, there are way too many cowboys fans who are not enjoying this season because they have sky high expectations and that is a damn shame.

Personally, I sat through a decade of mediocrity, watching every agononizing loss during all those crappy seasons so I am going to enjoy the hell out of this year, whether the boys win by 1 or 100. To each his own but I’ve waited too long for a contender to start crapping all over this team.

Amen.

Remember the three 5-11 seasons?

All too well

My personal low – the end of the 2001 season. I had just moved into a duplex with Green bay fans living next to me. I had just bought NFL ticket for next season and had sweet talked the Directv lady into giving me the last two games of this season. Determined to end on a high note, I got ready for the boys to beat up on perennial loser Detroit and instead watched the Lions put on a show, beating the cowboys in every way imaginable. As the clock ticked down and I felt the sting of another 5-11 season coming to a close, I was startled by a pounding on my wall and a drunken voice yelling “How bout them Cowboys??!!! HA HA HA.”

The good news? I keep in touch with those guys and have returned the favor via phone call during the boys last two victories over GB.

That memory is exactly what keeps my tongue in check whenever I'm about to excessively rant

"I'll give anybody a loan here if you bet against the Cowboys." - Jerry Jones, with sarcasm dripping from his voice.

yes but

the problem with the way the last two seasons ended is that wins don’t feel that good and losses seem significant. it isn’t fair, but it seems that way. nothing matters until the post season this year. i guess that is a good thing, but it is also frustrating.

in the 90’s we started winning. almost as soon as we started going to the playoffs on a regular basis we were going to the superbowl. there was never a sense that we might collapse. this team has a history of rolling over down the stretch so i have this that failure is around the corner. i hope i am wrong, but it certainly is easy to get frustrated this year,

I remember when the NFL schedule came out

and I looked at the Cowboys’ first 4 games; I told myself, “I’d be happy if they got outta the gate at 2-2.”

Gotta keep telling myself that.

That #38 sure should wrap up!

that is what kills me

before season started people predicted us to be 11-5 to 10-6 team. We are pace to be better then that and they still aren’t happy.. I said 13-3 or 14-2 and I stand by that..

our best game was against Green Bay!

which turned out to be the begining 3 game slide for GB. I contend that we have only played 1 good team thus far and we lost by 2 points, but were beat soundly in all phases of the game!

huh

GB and Philly are good teams missing key players due to injury.. If Westbrook is healthy Philly puts Washington away last week.. GB secondary is all banged up, not to mention Aaron Rodgers..

That's true

We beat the Iggles when they were at full strength (minus Curtis), and we beat GB at Lambeau when they were at full strength (aside from Woodson’s toe injury). Gotta keep some perspective on when the games were actually played. Those 2 teams were much stronger at the time the Boys played them.

great post

Fans act as though teams like the Bengals are professional football teams…..this is the NFL people! Every team has really good players and they bring it each and every week, especially against the Cowboys, we’re going to see each team’s best all season so be prepared and get used to it.

+1

Carson is a top 5 Qb when healthy, especially if you protect him.

Chad and TJ arguably 2 top 10 WR’s.
